Abstract

"SEMENTE DE GIRASSOL, óLEO DE GIRASSOL, PROCESSO PARA OBTENçãO DOS MESMOS, USO E PRODUTOS". A invenção se refere a uma semente de girassol, compreendendo óleo de girassol tendo um teor maior de ácido esteárico quando comparado com sementes do tipo agreste, obteníveis por tratamento de sementes precursoras com um agente mutagênico durante um período de tempo e em uma concentração suficiente para induzir uma ou mais mutações no traço genético,envolvido na biossintese do ácido esteárico, resultando em um aumento na produção de ácido esteárico, germinação das sementes tratadas e cultura das plantas descendentes das mesmas, coleta e análise das sementes descendentes, seleção das sementes que adquiriram o traço genético desejável e opcionalmente repetição do ciclo de germinação, cultura e coleta das sementes. Preferivelmente, as sementes compreendem um óleo tendo um teor de ácido esteárico entre 19,1 e 35 porcento em peso, relativo ã quantidade total de ácidos graxos no óleo, e são obteníveis pelo tratamento das sementes precursoras com um agente de alcoilação, tal como metano sulfonato de etila em água ou com azida de sódio em água. A invenção se refere ainda ao óleo de girassol obtenível pela extração das sementes de girassol, a um processo de preparação de sementes de girassol, tendo um teor maior de ácido esteárico comparado com sementes do tipo agreste, ao processo de preparação de óleo de girassol tendo teor maior de ácido esteárico de plantas de girassol produzidas das sementes e o uso do óleo de girassol em vários produtos.
