Abstract
"PROCESSO E APARELHO PARA PRODUZIR FERRO". Descreve-se um processo e aparelho para produzir ferro pela redução por fusão de concentrado ou concentrado pré-reduzido em um banho de metal em um reator, por exemplo, um conversor (10). Concentrado e agente redutor carbonáceo são alimentados ao banho de fusão que consiste de uma camada (28) de ferro fundido e uma camada (30) de escória flutuante no mesmo. Gás que contém oxigênio, tal como ar quente, é insuflado por meio de algaravizes (38) dentro de uma zona chamada de pós-combustão (37) no sentido da camada de escória, de forma a queimar os gases redutores que estão sendo descarregados e a aquecer o banho fundido. Os gases de descarga quentes produzidos no processo de combustão são conduzidos para fora através de uma saída (12) no teto do reator. O gás que contém oxigênio é insuflado para dentro de uma zona de pós-combustão protegida em relação às paredes do reator por meio de painéis de resfriamento (42) de forma a impedir que a escória e gotas de metal que respingam durante o insuflamento alcancem as paredes não resfriadas (11) do reator na fase gasosa.
