Abstract

trata-se de um processo para extrair compostos de magnésio de minérios que portam magnésio que compreende lixiviar o refugo de serpentina com hcl diluído para dissolver o magnésio e outros elementos como ferro e níquel. a sílica residual é removida e a solução rica é neutralizada adicionalmente para eliminar impurezas e recuperar níquel. o cloreto de magnésio é transformado em sulfato de magnésio e ácido clorídrico por meio de reação com o ácido sulfúrico. o sulfato de magnésio pode ser decomposto adicionalmente em óxido de magnésio e dióxido de enxofre por meio de calcinação. o gás de enxofre pode ser convertido adicionalmente em ácido sulfúrico.
