resumo método de processamento de biomassa lignocelulósica para formar uma polpa de celulose acilada; polpa de celulose acilada ou desacilada ou hemicelulose acilada ou desacilada; método de fermentação para produzir um produto de fermentação desejado; e polpa de celulose derivada de pelo menos um item dentre o híbrido de milho ou a palha de trigo trata-se de um processo para a produção de xaropes enriquecidos com açúcar c5 e c6 a partir de biomassa lignocelulósica e produtos de fermentação oriundos da mesma. uma biomassa lignocelulósica é tratada com um ácido c1-c2 (por exemplo, ácido acético) com lavagem da mesma com um solvente orgânico miscível em ácido c1-c2, (por exemplo, acetato de etila). uma fração enriquecida com hemicelulose solúvel e lignina é obtida separadamente a partir de uma fração enriquecida com polpa de celulose e a lignina é removida da fração de hemicelulose solúvel. essas frações contêm celulose e hemicelulose acilada (por exemplo, acetilada), que são desaciladas mediante o tratamento com um álcali e/ou com uma enzima de acetil esterase. as frações desaciladas são, então, digeridas com enzimas celulolíticas e/ou hemicelulolíticas adequadas, preferencialmente na presença de detergente não iônico para render os xaropes enriquecidos com c5 e c6. também são descritos os método de fermentação dos xaropes para produzir etanol para pelo menos 7% em p/vol mediante métodos de hidrólise separada e fermentação (shf) ou hidrólise simultânea e fermentação (ssf).
