Abstract

"MéTODO E APARELHO PARA CODIFICAR/DECODIFICAR ITENS DE DADOS DE LEGENDAGEM". Legendagem pode ser baseada tanto em dados de pixel como em dados de carácter. Dados de caracteres permitem codificação bastante eficiente, mas, apenas a partir de cadeias de caracteres, a legendagem não pode ser convertida em uma representação gráfica para ser sobreposta no vídeo. O conjunto de caracteres visados, fonte e, por exemplo, tamanho de fonte, tanto deve ser codificado explicitamente dentro do fluxo de bits de legendagem, bem como se deve fazer uma suposição implicita a respeito dele. Em legendagem com base em pixel, quadros de legendagem são levados diretamente na forma de representações gráficas, descrevendo-os como regiões (tipicamente retangulares) de valores de pixel na tela AV, às custa de considerável aumento na largura de banda para os dados de legendagem. De acordo com a invenção, é necessária uma memória de fontes, que permite uma concretização eficiente da escrita de legendagem com base em pixel, em virtude de os glifos precisarem ser transmitidos apenas uma vez e, em seguida, serem referenciados por referências de caracteres relativamente compactos durante o evento AV. Assim, a invenção combina as vantagens de esquemas de legendagem baseada em pixel e baseada em carácter puro, evitando-se ao mesmo tempo a maior parte dos seus respectivos inconvenientes.
