Abstract

"GENES PARA DESSATURASE E USOS DOS MESMOS". A invenção exposta relaciona-se à identificação de genes envolvidos na dessaturação de ácidos graxos poliinsaturados no carbono 5 (i.e., '<30>5-dessaturase') e no carbono 6 (i.e., '<30>6-dessaturase') e aos usos dos mesmos. Em particular, a <30>S-dessaturase pode ser utilizada, por exemplo, na conversão de ácido diomo-g-linolênico (DGLA) em ácido araquidónico (AA) e na conversão de ácido 20:4n-3 em ácido eicosapentaenóico (EPA). A delta-6 dessaturase pode ser usada, por exemplo, na conversão de linoléico (LA) em ácido g-linolênico (GLA). O AA, ou os ácidos graxos poliinsaturados produzidos a partir do mesmo, pode ser adicionado a composições farmacêuticas, composições nutricionais, alimentos para animais, bem como a outros produtos, tais como os cosméticos.
