The invention suggests an apparatus comprising first and second compensation adapters. The compensation adapters are each made with female terminals to accept the fluorescent lamp contact pins and with plug pins for electrical and mechanical connection to the contact elements of opposite lamp clamps. An energy-saving medium is connected between the female terminals and the plug pins of the first and second trim adapters. Thus, the apparatus according to the invention allows a modern T5 fluorescent lamp to be operated on a conventional lamp socket.
