Abstract

"ELABORAçãO DE LIGAS DE TIPO ALUMìNIO-SILìCIO". A invenção se refere a um processo de elaboração de ligas Al-Si, através de introdução no alumínio líquido, a uma temperatura compreendida entre 700 e 850<198>C, de grãos de silício metalúrgico de granulometria inferior a 10 mm, no qual os grãos de silício, quando eles atingem a temperatura do alumínio líquido, têm a propriedade de se fragmentar em grãos menores. Esses grãos são obtidos, de preferência, através de seleção granulométrica entre 1 e 10 mm do material obtido por granulação do silício líquido na água. A invenção permite aumentar a velocidade de dissolução do silício e reduzir as escórias formadas por ocasião da elaboração.
