Abstract
"PROCESSO PARA A PREPARAçãO DE áCIDO FóRMICO". A invenção refere-se a um processo para a produção de ácido fórmico, que compreende as seguintes etapas: a) hidrólise de formiato de metila para dar uma mistura de água, ácido fórmico, metanol e formiato de metila em excesso, b) separação do metanol e do formiato de metila da mistura de água, ácido fórmico, metanol e formiato de metila em excesso por destilação, para dar ácido fórmico aquoso, c) extração do ácido fórmico aquoso com pelo menos um éster de formiato, para dar uma mistura de éster de formiato e ácido fórmico, d) separação de formiato de benzila e ácido fórmico por destilação. O processo da invenção permite uma síntese suave de ácido fórmico. Somente um pequeno grau de decomposição do ácido fórmico ocorre e, sob as citadas condições de reação, o ácido fórmico mostra um efeito corrosivo limitado.
