Abstract
The invention relates to a refrigeration device (10) with an heat-insulating housing (11) that has at least one door and with a heat exchanger that is used as a condenser (20). The refrigeration device further comprises a collecting container (16) that collects the melt water produced in the defrost operation of the refrigeration device. The problem one is often faced with in such refrigeration devices is that the running times of the refrigerant compressor (14) are substantially reduced owing to the highly efficient heat insulation so that the evaporation of the melt water favored by the heat dissipated by the compressor (14) is reduced to such an extent that it cannot be excluded that the water in the collecting container will spill over. According to the invention, this problem is solved by removing the melt water from the container (16) to a certain minimum level by means of an absorbent, hydrophilic material (23), said absorbing material (23) being exposed to the heat dissipated by the condenser (20) to accelerate the evaporation rate of the absorbed melt water.
