Abstract

"MéTODO DE TRATAMENTO DE UM MATERIAL PARTICULADO DE CAULIM". Um método de tratamento de material particulado de caulim para melhorar suas propriedades pela remoção de impurezas que inclui as etapas de: (a) produzir uma suspensão aquosa dispersada de um material particulado de caulim contendo pelo menos 0,1% em peso, baseado no peso seco de material particulado de caulim, de impureza separável pela adição de um agente dispersante no material particulado de caulim para desflocular as partículas sólidas do material na suspensão; (b) condicionar a suspensão antes da adição de polímero de floculação seletiva na mesma pela permissão de que a suspensão envelheça por um período de pelo menos 30 minutos e opcionalmente pela adição de um ou mais agentes químicos condicionadores na mesma; (c) ajustar o pH da suspensão para ser pelo menos de cerca de 9,5; (d) adicionar na suspensão em um pH de pelo menos cerca de 9,5 um polímero de floculação seletiva que facilita a separação da impureza separável do caulim pela floculação do caulim e pela permissão de que a impureza separável seja ou permaneça desfloculada; (e) permitir que a suspensão em um pH de pelo menos cerca de 9,5 em um separador de floculação seletiva se separe em camadas compreendendo uma camada de produto floculado e uma camada de impureza desfloculada contendo a impureza separável; e (f) extrair as camadas separadas do separador.
