On utilise pendant une première phase de soufflage au moins 80% de l'oxygène total nécessaire à l'affinage et tout le laitier de fin d'élaboration de la charge précédente avec une partie de chaux nouvelle d'une quantité au plus égale à 25 % de la quantité de chaux totale voisine ou identique à la quantité stoechiométrique nécessaire à la neutralisation des oyxdes de silicium et de phosphore formés au cours de l'affinage ou contenus dans les additions minérales et métalliques et à les transformer en silicate dicalcique (CaO2) SiO2 et en phosphate tricalcique (CaO)3 P2O5.
