<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>

"Plug-in type safety switch and wall outlet" "Plug-in type safety switch and wall outlet"
Safety and practicality are always two essential characteristics
look for a wall switch and wall outlet. However, common and conventional wall switches and receptacles still cannot meet the requirements of these two features. By taking repair safety for example, a main switch or a power outlet cannot usually be repaired or replaced before having cut the main supply. As a result, the power supply for other consumers or loads will be interrupted. In this case, the power supply for lighting equipment will also be interrupted and any repair or replacement work will be very difficult, if not impossible to do overnight.
In the old conventional type of switch or socket, when this element gave a fault, the whole base plate had to be replaced and the other switch or socket in satisfactory condition in this base plate was also lost. After repeated repair,
the base plate or the thread of the screws may be damaged, causing the entire base plate to become impossible to fix in position or to fall.
In some new switches or sockets, any switch or socket on a common base plate or frame can be replaced by removing the panel. Since the power wire is directly connected to the switch or
at the outlet, the power supply must be cut off and the supply wire must be removed before working
on the back of this base plate with or without tools to safely disassemble the switch or plug. Therefore, it is always difficult
to remove or replace such an element, in particular for members of the current family with little knowledge in the electrical field.
Although the aforementioned conventional switch or wall outlet is capable of avoiding an electric shock since the element is impossible or difficult to remove in isolation, this safety feature may also have other elements of lack of safety and uneasiness during repair in the event of a breakdown. Consequently, such elements will obviously be disputed in the area of
security and convenience.
The object of the present invention is to offer a plug-in type of wall switch and of safety wall outlet offering the following characteristics, effective taking into account the simultaneous principles of safety and ease:
1. The wall switch and wall outlet devices include a plug-in unit, respectively. After simple wiring and work, a switch or plug-in socket unit can be inserted, respectively, into a single niche of a power socket assembly or can optionally be inserted into several niches of a socket assembly supply, so as to fix them in the niches and bring their contacts to come directly engage contacts installed at the bottom of the aforementioned niches. In other words, all plug-in units are interchangeable before practical wiring, so as to give architects and workers more flexibility and choice.
2. When the switch unit and the plug-in socket unit have been inserted into the recesses, their interchangeability will be lost so as to ensure correctness and safety after removal for replacement (ie say in order to prevent the possibility of insertion into a wrong niche).
3. Under normal contact conditions,
there are two retaining functions between the plug-in unit and the power outlet assembly for
a reliable fixing function; the plug-in unit will not come out suddenly simply because it is accidentally touched by the user or a child is playing with it.
4. In the case of a faulty plug-in unit, this unit can easily be removed by simple handling without using any tools, in order to replace it with a new one or to repair it if necessary.
5. The plug-in switch unit or plug-in socket unit has two fuse slots for enclosing, respectively, two fuse elements, one of which is used to provide a protective function while the other is a reserve element.
6. The wall switch and wall outlet
have an anti-theft design to prevent
plug-in units to be stolen or replaced or
in order to offer absolute security assurance
absence of electric shock. However, when removing the screws on the power socket assembly panel, a pushpin head pin, which can indirectly prevent the plug-in unit from being removed,
will be easily removed to restore removable nature
plug-in unit for repair or
a replacement, if necessary.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description below, given by way of non-limiting example and with reference to
to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Figure 17 is a diagram illustrating the static relationship between the plug-in switch unit and the control frame. Figure 18 is a partial exploded view of the wall switch and the wall outlet illustrated
in Figure 1, with the plug-in switch unit removed and a portion of the panel next to the plug-in socket unit broken away to reveal the protruding tab of the plug-in socket unit under the panel.
Figure 19 is a diagram illustrating the dynamic relationship between the plug-in switch unit and the control frame. Figure 20 is an exploded diagram illustrating the anti-theft design on the back of the base plate of the power outlet assembly illustrated in Figure 14.
Referring to Figures 1 and 2, there is illustrated an embodiment of the invention in which the power outlet assembly 1 receives
by inserting a plug-in switch unit 2 and a plug-in socket unit 3. The power supply assembly 1 comprises a panel 11 and a base plate 12 fixed together and two niches or housings 13 'and 13 "installed below the base plate, one of them being for the plug-in switch unit 2 and the other for the plug-in socket unit 3. On the panel 11 are made two rectangular openings 111 to allow the passage of the plug-in units 2 and 3, two openings 112 for the pushbuttons 91 and 91 'of the control frames (interposed between the panel 11 and the base plate 12,
as illustrated in Figure 14) extending outward, and another opening 113 for the protruding head of the movable latch 10 extending outward. Two screw holes 14 are used to secure the power outlet assembly 1 to the wallbox using two screws. The panel 11 and the base plate
12 can be fixed together by applying an adhesive between their edges or by another method, in order to prevent the parts (such as for example the control frame and the aforementioned movable lock) between the panel
11 and the base plate 12 fall off when removing the power outlet assembly 1 by loosening the screws.
Before installing the plug-in units 2 and
3 for the first time, the switch niche 13 ′ and the socket niche 13 "can have an identical structure called the common niche 13 as illustrated in FIG. 3. Referring to FIG. 2, four holes are shown 131 at the four lower corners of the niches
13 'and 13 ", which are used as insertion holes for the supply wires 4 (partially shown). A shallow hole 132 is provided for the installation in the lower central part of the niche. of a conical spring 5. Referring
in Figure 3, two spring contacts are shown
6 and 7 and another pair of spring contacts 8 installed at the four lower corners of the common niche
13. In fact, the pair of spring contacts 8 is a connection of two spring contacts which are identical to the spring contacts 6 and 7. An insulating protruding part 133 is used to separate and fix the spring contacts 6 and 7 , while another protruding part 134 extending from the bottom of the recess is used to fix the pair of spring contacts 8.
Referring to Figure 3, four inclined studs 135 (only one of which is shown) at the bottom of
the recess are used to fix the spring contacts 6, 7 and 8. In addition, these spring contacts 6, 7 and 8 can also receive an additional fixing force thanks to their projecting feet 611, 711 (figures 2 and 3), 811 and 811 '(FIG. 2) penetrating through the four junctions 136 (of which only one is shown) at the bottom of the niche to then be bent in the four notches at the bottom of the niche 13.
The spring contacts 6, 7 and the pair of spring contacts 8 each have at least one external spring leaf and one internal spring leaf. Each external spring leaf can at least offer a contact point intended to come into contact with the corresponding spring contact on the plug-in unit 2 or 3. For example, in FIG. 3, the pair of spring contacts
8 has a longer outer spring leaf 81
and two internal spring leaves 82 and 82 'at the two ends of this external spring leaf 81. The spring contacts 6 and 7 include two external spring leaves 61 and 71 and two internal spring leaves
62 and 72, respectively.
Each of the internal spring leaves 62, 72,
82 and 82 'is a bent spring leaf, one end of which extends outside the opening of the external spring leaf.
Referring to Figure 3, there is shown the external leaf spring 81 of the pair of contacts
with spring 8 as comprising two contacts 812 and 812 'bent downwards so as to come into contact
with the corresponding plug-in unit contacts
2 or 3.
Referring to Figures 2 and 3 and taking as an example the pair of spring contacts 8, the supply wire 4 is introduced into the hole 131 and is fixed between the internal spring leaf 82 and the external spring leaf 81 Thanks to the elastic force of the extended end of the internal spring leaf
82, the stripped part of the wire on the outside of the blade
of the external spring 81 is fixed firmly, so that the supply wire 4 is almost impossible
to remove after its introduction. In addition, near the place where the extended end of each of the internal spring blades extends outwards, a window 138 was made allowing the supply wire 4 to be removed if necessary, using a screwdriver to drive it in so as to spread and hold said internal leaf spring.
Referring to Figure 4, there is shown the plug-in switch unit 2 which has an upper cover 22 for mounting the com-mutator button 21 and a base 24 for installation
of the spring contact assembly 23. At the base of the upper cover 22 are two hooks 221,
which must be hooked to two grooves 241, respectively. On the two opposite external sides of the upper cover 22 are located four grooves 222 which can be assembled in dovetail with four corresponding projecting tabs 242 on the base. Each protruding tab 242 extends from the lower edge of the base 24 to the upper cover 22 under a
appropriate angle given so as to allow it to have elasticity inwards and outwards. When the protruding tabs 242 are pushed inward, they will be fully pushed into
the corresponding grooves 222.
Referring to Figures 4 and 5, we have shown
<EMI ID = 2.1>
movable spring contact 231 and two fixed spring contacts 232, 233 which form a double action switch, and a fixed spring leaf 234 which brings the movable spring contact 231 to the lower external part of the base 24.
Referring to FIG. 6, the movable spring contact 231 can be actuated by virtue of the fact that its movable end is engaged with a notch 211 at the base of the switch button 21.
The fixed spring contacts 232 and 233 each have a curved projecting foot between the lower part and the external face of the base 24, as shown in FIG. 6b. Referring to Figure 7,
there is shown the projecting foot of the movable spring contact 231 penetrating through the lower part of the base 24 and extending in one of the two fuse slots on the lower part of the base 24. By means of the fuse element 25 kept in this fuse notch, the foot projecting from the contact
with movable spring can be electrically connected to the
foot projecting from the fixed spring leaf 234, while a reserve fuse element 25 'is kept
in the other fuse slot which has no metallic contact with any spring contacts. Two tapes 26 and 26 'each have one end fixed in the two fuse slots in order to allow easy removal of the fuse elements 25, 25'. Between these two fuse slots, a conical hole 244 is made in the lower part of the base, to engage the top of the conical spring 5 illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3, when the plug-in switch unit 2 is inserted in the switch niche. 13 '.
Referring to Figure 4, there is shown a guide groove 245 outside the base 24
and a small groove 246 on the opposite external face of this base. Returning to FIG. 3, there is shown a guide rib 139 corresponding to the guide groove 245 and upper and lower protruding parts 13a, 13b inside the common niche 13,
the upper projecting part 13a occupying the position corresponding to the small groove 246.
When installing the wall switch
on site, the lower protruding part 13b will be cut using a pointed pliers, then the plug-in switch unit 2 will be inserted into the recess along the guide rib 139 and the upper protruding part 13a. After introduction, the two fixed spring contacts 232 and 233 of the plug-in switch unit 2 will come into direct contact with the spring contacts 6 and 7 in the recess 13 ', respectively. The movable spring contact 231 of this switch unit 2 will come into indirect contact with the pair of spring contacts 8 in the niche 13 ', by means of the fuse 25 and the fixed spring leaf
234, as illustrated in Figure 2.
In other words, the common niche 13 illustrated in FIG. 3 can be used as a niche
with switch 13 'as illustrated in FIG. 2, when the lower projecting part 13b is cut.
Referring to Figures 8 to 11, there is shown the plug-in socket unit 3, which comprises
an upper cover 31 and a base 33 for installing the socket contact assembly 32. The upper cover 31 has two hooks 311 identical to the hooks 221 of the upper cover 22 in the plug-in switch unit 2. The base 33 is similar to base 24 of plug-in switch unit 2, except that an insulating piece 331
installed there to isolate the two socket contacts
321 and 322 and the left external lateral groove 332 corresponds to the lower projecting part 13b in the common niche 13 illustrated in FIG. 3. The base 33 also has four symmetrical projecting tabs 333. The socket contact 321 has two feet protruding curved between the lower part and the outside of the base 33, as shown in Figure lOb. Another socket contact 322 has a protruding hole penetrating through the bottom of the base 33 and appearing at one end of a fuse notch at the bottom of the base, so as to come into contact with the fuse element 25 kept in this fuse notch, as shown in Figure 11. The two projecting feet
of the fixed spring leaf 323 are bent over the opposite position of the projecting feet of the socket contact 321 and one of the projecting feet appears at the other end of said fuse notch, providing metallic contact with the fuse element 25.
Consequently, when the upper protruding part 13a in the common niche 13 illustrated in FIG. 3 is eliminated, the plug-in socket unit 3 illustrated in FIG. 11 can be inserted into the niche as indicated in FIG. 12, so that the projecting feet of the socket contact 321 come directly into contact with the spring contacts 6 and 7 in the niche 13 "and another socket contact 322 comes directly into contact with the pair of contacts
with spring 8, using the fusible element 25 and the fixed spring leaf 323, as illustrated in FIG. 13. In other words, when the upper projecting part
13a inside the common niche 13 illustrated in figure 3 is eliminated, this niche can be used as a niche with 13 "socket as illustrated in figure
2.
The first function of the fixed spring leaf 234 in the plug-in switch unit 2 and the fixed spring leaf 323 in the plug-in socket unit 3 is to connect, via the fuse 25, a terminal of the supply to the movable spring contact 231 and to the socket contact 322, respectively. The second function of this fixed spring leaf 234 or 323 is to provide additional contact using one of its two projecting feet, together with the pair of spring contacts 8 inside the 13 'or 13 "niche, so as to transmit power to an incident terminal from a given spring contact in one niche to the other niche
with switch or socket. Returning to Figure 2,
there is shown a supply wire 4 establishing a connection between the switch niche 13 'and the socket niche 13 ".
The protruding pieces 13a and 13b can be made up of a piece that is fairly thin (less than 1 mm) to fulfill this purpose, with one of these protruding pieces left in place to be easily cut and prevent the plug-in unit 2 or 3 d 'be introduced into a wrong niche. In other words, this part will ensure correct insertion for security purposes. When
installation work in the first place, if even the lower part of the protruding part 13a or 13b is not clearly cut, this will not interfere with the introduction, because the plug-in units 2 and 3 comprise, respectively, a base 24 and a base 33 tapering slightly towards the bottom.
Briefly, the plug-in switch unit 2 and the plug-in socket unit 3 are interchangeable during the installation operation
(i.e. the niche 13 can be adapted either for the plug-in unit 2 or for the plug-in unit 3) in order to allow the electrical technician or the electrician to have considerable flexibility . However, when the initial installation work has been completed, this interchangeability feature will be eliminated to ensure safety.
Referring to Figure 14, there is shown two control frames 9 and 9 'interposed between the panel 11 and the base plate 12 of the power outlet assembly 1. Each of these frames 9 and 9' has , at one end, a push button 91, 91 'extending out of the opening 112 on the panel 11, as illustrated in FIG. 1, so as to facilitate manual actuation. Along the edges of the windows of the control frame 9 or 9 ', four symmetrical inclined cutouts 92 and 92' are provided respectively.
<EMI ID = 3.1>
opposite inclined 92 or 92 'is greater than that
of the opening 111 on the panel 11.
Referring to Figure 15, there is shown two stamped ribs 122 on the two sides of each opening 121 on the base plate 12, in order to locate each of the control frames 9 and 9 '. The two ribs 122 between the two openings 121 are divided into two parts by a groove 123: a lower part and an upper part, which are all closed together at their top, resulting in the formation of a slot 124. FIG. 15 also represents the marks (indicated by dotted lines) left
by removing the protruding part 13a or 13b when modifying a common niche 13 into a niche
with 13 'switch or a 13 "socket niche.
Referring to Figure 14, there is shown a movable lock 10 provided in the groove 123. The projecting head of the movable lock 10 extends out of the opening 113, as shown in Figure 1, so that this movable lock 10 can be moved laterally. In the slot 124, a small rubber roller 20 with a diameter greater than the depth of this groove, is adapted so as to come to exert a pressure on the movable lock 10 in conditions of rest, so that this lock is always kept in the central position without free movement, regardless of how the supply assembly 1 is installed
(horizontally or vertically) in the wall box on the wall.
Referring to Figures 14 and 16a, the two control frames 9 and 9 'each have a slot 93 and 93' which are adjacent to the two ends of the movable lock 10, so that the ends of the latter penetrate into the slots 93 and 93 'over a short distance, respectively, under the aforementioned rest conditions. Under these conditions, a pressure applied to any one of the push buttons 91 and
91 ', in the direction of the arc springs 15 and 15', will not cause the control frames 9 and 9 'to move downwards along the ribs 122.
Referring to Figure 16b, there is shown schematically the case where the movable lock 10 has been moved to the slot 93 .. Under these conditions, the control frame 9 'can be moved down as shown in Figure 16c, and it will be returned to its original position under the action of the arc spring 15 'when the pressure is removed.
Since the width of the opening 121 of the base plate 12 is slightly greater than that of the opening 111 of the panel 11 (referring to FIGS. 12 and 15 and admitting that the plug-in socket unit 3 shown in FIG. 12 is a plug-in switch unit 2) and since the position of the projecting four tabs 242 on the plug-in switch unit 2 is exactly opposite to the static position of the four inclined cutouts 92 on the control frame 9 as shown in Figure 17, during the introduction of the plug-in switch unit
2 in the switch niche 13 'through the panel opening 111, the four projecting tabs 242 will be gradually pushed back by the edges of the opening 111 until the upper surface of
these projecting tabs 242 is less than the lower surface of the panel 11. Then, the projecting tabs 242 will be released by the opening 111 and will return by a spring effect to their previous position. In other words, when the plug-in switch unit 2 is fully inserted into the niche
13 ', the four projecting legs 242 will immediately move outward with a spring effect, with their upper surface retained on the panel 11 so that the plug-in switch unit 2 is fixed in the niche 13' without being pushed back by the conical spring 5 at the bottom of the niche.
The above state also exists in the plug-in socket unit 3. Referring to Figures 12
and 18, there are shown the projecting tabs 333 of the plug-in socket unit 3 retained under the panel
11. Referring to Figures 3 and 18, the four inclined protrusions 135 (shown in part) both in the switch niche 13 'and in the socket niche 13 "also fulfill a fixing function for the units pluggable 2 and 3, given that when the latter are introduced respectively into the recesses 13 ′ and 13 ", their bases 24 and 33 will be accommodated with precision between the four projecting parts 135.
As mentioned previously, when the movable lock 10 is located in its central position in
a state of rest, the control frames 9 and 9 ′ are fixed by the movable lock 10 and cannot
be moved. The control frames 9 and 9 'can therefore keep the plug-in units concerned
2 and 3, respectively, against direct removal. Consequently, each of the plug-in units 2 and 3 has, under static conditions, two locking means for a better fixing result, in order to prevent it from being expelled with a spring effect when it is accidentally touched in the darkness or when a child is playing with it.
Referring to Figure 18, we have indicated
that the movable lock 10 has been moved to the gripping side. Then, a certain pressure is applied to the push button 91 so that the four projecting tabs 242 are pushed back by the inclined notches 92 in the four small grooves 222 (shown in FIG. 4) of the upper cover 22, as shown in Figure 19. The projecting tabs 242 are no longer retained by the panel 11 and the plug-in switch unit 2 can be removed using the conical spring 5 at the bottom of the niche 13 '. Likewise, if the movable latch 10 is moved to the switch side and the push button 91 is pushed down, the pluggable grip unit 3 can be removed.
In the case where the importance of the anti-theft character receives a higher priority than the ease of replacement and repair (for example in a
or entrance hall, public staircase, public place or the like), the present invention has its special anti-theft function which will be described as follows, with reference to FIGS. 1 and 20:
Referring to Figure 20, there is shown a diagram in which a shallow hole 125 is made on the back of the base plate 12 and is located opposite the movable latch 10. In the center of this shallow round hole 125 is a small hole on the side
in part 126. The shallow hole 125 is used to place a pin with a pushpin head 30, which passes through the small hole right through 126 and the small hole 101 on the underside of the movable lock 10.
When the installation location presents
an absolute anti-theft or anti-shock requirement, the pushpin head pin 30 will prevent the movable lock 10 from moving, thus preventing the removal of plug-in units 2 and 3. If a trouble occurs, the screws will be removed screw holes 14 on the panel 11 and the head pin 30 will be removed from the slot above the shallow hole 125. Then, in accordance with the procedures defined above, the plug-in unit 2 or
3. In the case of an installation site with no absolute anti-theft or anti-shock requirement, the pin
with pushpin head 30 can be removed when installing the power outlet assembly 1.
Since the common niche 13 can be adapted to both the plug-in switch unit 2 and the plug-in socket unit 3 during installation, a power socket assembly 1, with one or more of a common niche 13 can, by adapting it
to said plug-in unit (s), offer one or more of a wall switch or wall outlet or offer
the same number of switches and wall outlets after
the first installation. When a supply assembly 1 contains "N" (N greater than 1) niches arranged side by side, provision may be made for "N - 1" movable locks 10
and each of them must be installed between two control frames. When a power outlet assembly 1 has a single recess, a single movable lock 10 will be installed. In the case where the "N" niches are not placed side by side, the number of movable locks 10 can be determined in accordance
the conditions of arrangement of the individual case considered. These embodiments can be considered by analogy and no drawing has been given.
It should be understood that the present invention is in no way limited to the above embodiments and that many modifications can be made without departing from the scope of this patent.
