<EMI ID=1.1>

<EMI ID=11.1>

<EMI ID=16.1>
<EMI ID=17.1>

"Method and device for adjusting the height of building blocks and the like".
The present invention relates to a method for adjusting, to a predetermined height, the height of building blocks and the like, in particular of hollow concrete blocks intended to be
<EMI ID = 1.1>
then a binder.
The object of the present invention is to provide a very useful variant of the method described in main patent 879,765.
To this end, the method according to the present invention consists in making blocks of which
the upper face has at least one projection,
the distance of this face from the underside of these blocks being slightly less
at the aforementioned predetermined height and the distance between, the apex of the projection and this lower face being slightly greater than the aforementioned predetermined height, and in reducing the height of the apex of the protrusion substantially to this predetermined height.
Advantageously, blocks are produced, the aforesaid projection of which, before reducing the height, as indicated above, has a summit substantially in the form of a point or crest.
According to a particular embodiment of the object of the invention, the top of the projection is reduced to the aforementioned predetermined height before the blocks harden.
The invention also relates to a device for adjusting the height of building blocks and the like, in particular for implementing the above method.
This device is characterized in that it comprises, on the one hand, a press in which is mounted at least one mold making it possible to produce blocks whose upper face has at least one projection, the distance from this face, with respect to
to the underside of this block being slightly less than the predetermined height and the distance from the top of the projection and this underside being slightly greater than the aforementioned predetermined height, and, on the other hand, means making it possible to reduce the height from the top of the projection substantially to the predetermined height.
According to a preferred embodiment, the mold comprises a punch cooperating with a die and having, in its face intended to form the upper face of the blocks, at least one recess corresponding to the aforementioned projection.
The invention also relates to the mold for manufacturing the aforementioned block, as well as
the block obtained.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description given below, by way of non-limiting example, of a particular embodiment of the method and of an advantageous device for the implementation of this. method, with reference to the accompanying drawing which shows schematically and in elevation of this advantageous device for adjusting the height of building blocks.
Sewn for the main patent, the invention essentially relates to the manufacture of concrete blocks, heavy or light, having at least one hollow crossing these blocks right through over the entire height, which can be assembled dry so as to form channels. descending into which one can be sunk. binder, especially concrete.

Next, the height of the apex 6 of the projection 3 is reduced substantially to this predetermined height 5. Thus blocks are obtained,

determined 5.
As also shown in the figure,
the aforementioned projection has, before its reduction in height., a substantially point-like apex, so that the material to be removed or flattened from the projection 3, for adjusting the height of the block 1, is reduced at least.
These projections 3 can advantageously

In other cases, for example, the projection may extend over practically the entire length of the blocks, along the two longitudinal edges. In this

Similarly, the height of the projection 3 from the face 2 is generally of the order of 0.5 to 4 mm.

In this way, the gap between two superimposed blocks is reduced to a minimum, while

The apex 6 of the projection 3 can be reduced
at predetermined height 5 before hardening
blocks, so as to facilitate the removal of excess material from the projections or crushing
of the latter.without the blocks themselves being damaged or deformed.
In this case, we can flatten the submit 6
projection 3 by means of a rolled cylinder,
<EMI ID = 11.1>
According to the invention, it is possible to further reduce this height from the apex 6 of the projection 3 to the predetermined height 5 by planing, milling or grinding, which would therefore possibly make it possible to work on hardened blocks.
As already indicated above, the invention also relates to a particular device for adjusting the height of building blocks and the like, in particular of hollow blocks intended to be laid dry on top of each other.
This device comprises, on the one hand. a press, for example, of the type of static presses known for the manufacture of traditional concrete blocks
masonry in mortar, in which is mounted however
<EMI ID = 12.1>
in one operation, blocks having protrusions 3 on their upper face 2 which form a whole with
the body of blocks 1 and whose shape and dimensions
<EMI ID = 13.1>
This device also comprises means making it possible to reduce the height of the crown 6
of the projection 3 substantially at the predetermined height
5.
This mold comprises, as, moreover, traditional molds, a punch cooperating with a die. The punch has however in its face intended to cooperate with the upper face of the blocks at least one recess corresponding to the aforementioned projection.
The attached figure does not show such an <EMI ID = 14.1>
already indicated below, with a generally classy appearance - <EMI ID = 15.1> The attached figure shows, on the other hand, a [pound] equalization device 7 mounted downstream of the mold and making it possible to reduce the height of the summit 6 of the projection 3 of the blocks 1 substantially at the predetermined height 5.
This equalization device generally comprises a leveling element 9 mounted above a space 8, where the blocks can be brought after they leave the mold to reduce in height
the aforementioned projection, as already indicated, and spacers or guides 10 for maintaining the lower face 4 of the blocks in this space
8 at a relative distance from this element corresponding substantially to the aforementioned predetermined height.
More particularly, this leveling element 9 comprises, in the embodiment shown in the figure, three identical cylinders 11 whose axes extend in the same substantially horizontal plane. These cylinders are actuated around their axes, so that each point on their surface generates a cyclotdale curve relative to
to the blocks, that is to say rolls, without sliding, on the tops of the projections 3 provided on the upper faces of the blocks.
There is therefore a relatively perfect synchronism between the speed of rotation of the cylinders 14 and the speed of advance of the blocks 1 in space
8.
The equalization apparatus 7 further comprises
a sliding frame 15 suspended, via
of screws 16 controlled by handwheels with handle 17,
a frame of a fixed frame 12.
The cylinders 11 are in turn mounted in a frame 19 which can undergo a downward and upward movement, as indicated by the arrows
20, relative to frame 15, between a position
high, in which the cylinders are in
an inactive state, and a low position, in which
the cylinders can accomplish the aforementioned flattening operation. This movement of raising and lowering of the chassis 19 takes place by means of jacks
bellows 21.
The spacing or guide members 10 are fixed relative to the chassis 19 carrying the cylinders ll, on either side of the ends of the latter, and cooperating with the two lateral edges 13 of the plate or of the board 22, bearing the blocks 1 to be adjusted, when the cylinders are in their low position, that is to say near the upper face 2 of the blocks. This is the position shown in the figure.
In this particular embodiment, the spacing and guiding members 10 comprise wheels or rollers 23 mounted on the lower end of a vertical section 24 welded to the chassis 19. These wheels or rollers are, in FIG. 1 , two in number per unit 10 and extend on both sides
of the vertical plane of symmetry passing through the axis of a cylinder. The edges 13 of the plates or boards 22, with which they cooperate, are slightly lower than the central part 14 of the plates or boards and may possibly be provided with wear surfaces.
Means are provided for adjusting the distance between the cylinders and the wheels or rollers.
In the embodiment shown in the figure, these means consist of machined shims 25 which can be placed between the lower end of the profile 24 and bearings 26 fixed on the latter and carrying the rotation shaft of the wheels or rollers 23 .
Such means could, for example be used to adapt the distance separating the cylinders 11, in their low position, from the boards
22, with which the rollers or wheels 23 cooperate in this position.
The wheels or rollers 23 rotate freely about their axis in bearings 26, while the cylinders 11 are driven by means of a geared motor 27 controlled by an incorporated frequency converter. This drive takes place by means of toothed belts 28 moving around pinions 29 mounted on the rotation shaft of the cylinders 11.
This drive is such that when the cylinders are in their low position, they can roll on the blocks 2 without slipping, that is to say so that each point of the cylindrical surface of the cylinders 11 generates a cycloidal curve.
The operation of the device according to the invention can be described as follows:
When a board 22 of blocks 1, provided with projections 3, leaves the static press, this board is conveyed by a conveyor belt 30, through the equalization apparatus 7, according to the invention, mounted downstream of the hurry.
This conveyor belt 30, preferably formed by two endless parallel chains,
moving in the direction of arrow 31, bring the board 22 carrying the blocks 1 into the space 8 of
<EMI ID = 16.1>
where the wheels or rollers 23 meet the board and roll freely on the latter, this descent being for example of the order of 0.5 to 1 cm.
In this position, the cylinders, driven by the geared motor 27, roll on the projections 3 of the blocks 1 to thereby flatten their upper part to the predetermined height 5.
It could also be important
to provide a cylinder 11 cleaning system, for example by means of squeegees, not shown, acting on the cylinder surfaces of the cylinders 11
when the latter are in the high position, that is to say in their non-active position.
Similarly, it could be very important, according to the invention, to provide cleaning means specific to the mold to prevent the recess or recesses provided in the punch for the formation of the projection (s), in order to prevent that this or these hollows do not clog up with concrete.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown in the figure and that many variants can be envisaged without departing from the scope of this patent.
Thus, for example, the equalization device can be one of the types described and represented in the aforementioned main patent.
Furthermore / one could also make use of an equalization device comprising a
<EMI ID = 17.1>
In order to avoid tearing off or damaging the protrusions during their flattening, it is important that these protrusions have a relatively wide base and that only the relatively narrow upper part is flattened or removed sufficiently enough however to form a base. stable for blocks to be stacked.
