<EMI ID=1.1>
chambres.
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>
Teat cup for a milking machine The present application relates to an improvement to the subject of patent no. [Deg.] 831,799.
In this patent is described a teat cup for a milking machine comprising a teat in which is housed the teat of an animal and a cup body formed of two rigid concentric tubes, usually of metal, between which is compressed
a third tube of rubber or similar material. The pulsation exerted to compress and decompress the teat is applied to the nipple through a stiffener.
In this apparatus, the metal outer tube must be slid hard over the rubber intermediate tube, which leads to serious assembly difficulties. In addition, the rubber tube is particularly compressed and stretched so that it cannot work normally, the atmospheric pressure used to create the pulsation having difficulty in overcoming the resistance due to the tension of the rubber.
The present improvement aims to simplify the means of execution of the teat cup and to facilitate its assembly while improving its operation.
According to this improvement, the cup body is formed of two pieces fitting one on the other
and the teat carries on its perimeter a projecting membrane, this membrane having along its outer edge a means of attachment to one of the parts forming the cup so as to form inside the latter soft chambers in each of which opens a nozzle for connection to a pulsator, the teat having
<EMI ID = 1.1>
bedrooms.
The embodiment according to the improvement is illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
The body of the cup is formed by the assembly of two parts 1 and 2 which fit together. On the upper end of part 1 is fixed by
<EMI ID = 2.1>
its lower end by a pipe 4 which has ridges 5 to hold it in place at the outlet of the cup.
The teat is formed with a membrane 6 projecting around its periphery approximately at mid-height. This membrane 6 is formed on its outer edge with a bead 7 which is housed in a circular groove 8 formed along the lower edge of the part 1. The membrane 6
is supported by a stop 9 integral with the part 2 which also prevents a sliding of the part 2 on
part 1. The membrane 6 forms inside the
<EMI ID = 3.1>
chambers open a nozzle, 11 and 12 respectively, for connection to the pulsator.
On each side of the membrane 6 the teat has a swelling, 31 and 32 respectively; these blisters are each located in one of the chambers A and B. These blisters surround the teat 10 of the animal on two different levels and make it possible to form around the teat a vacuum ring at a determined level and to give more vigor to the teat. pulsation at this point. The blisters also make it easier to penetrate during pressure on the teat.
Sending a pulsation of atmospheric air into
the chamber A by the nozzle 11 acts directly on the swelling 31 behind which there is a vacuum and vigorous pressure is applied to the teat
of the beast as indicated by the dotted line 13. During this time, the pulsator creates a vacuum in chamber B.
When the pulsations are reversed, a vacuum is created in chamber A and the pulsation of air is sent to chamber B, thus producing pressure on the lower part of the teat as indicated by the dotted line 14.
The alternation of pulsations therefore produces the exertion of pressure first on the top of the teat and then on the bottom of the teat.
It will be noted in the drawing that the teat 3 lengthens in the middle zone during the application.
pressure in chamber A and in chamber B
as indicated in 15 and 16 respectively. These extensions are desired and necessary to prevent the formation in zone C of a milk bag which would be compressed between the two successive pulsations and which the animal could not withstand. The effect of the two pressures must therefore intersect in order to produce a uniform pressure over the entire height of the teat. In other words, zone C is subjected to the same pressure as the other places of the teat, thus avoiding a hollow where the pressure would be inoperative.
