Title cpds. are prepd. by reacting a vincamone or a substd. ebumarine with an organomagnesium compound contg. a residue (where R is alkyl or N(R)2 is a heterocyclic ring e.g. pyrrolidino morpholino, piperidino or N-methyl piperazino). Thus 3-(N-dimethyl(amino) propylvincanol is prepd. from vincamone and an organo complex formed from Mg, and 3-dimethylamino-1-chloropropane.
