Abstract

The box is circular and its base (A) has an annular ring (2) of saw tooth cam surfaces around its inner wall. These surfaces are formed by curved ramps (2a) and vertical walls (2b). The lid (B) is flat and has a similar ring (1) of cam surfaces forming a flange on its undersurface and engaging the cam surfaces in the base when the box is closed. To open the box the lid is rotated (f) and rises upwards, the cam surfaces riding over each other. Before disengaging, gaps around the box periphery admit air to the interior and prevent the formation of a dust cloud when the lid is removed.
