Abstract
A raw material for cement-clinker is characterised by >=1 of the following (1) The compsn comprises a calcareous constituent, e.g. lime and a siliceous constituent 90% of whose particles have a dimension =30 mu m the C3S constituent of the clinker formed on firing being >80%, the total of the aluminous and ferrous mineral matters in the clinker, e.g. C3A, C4AF, and C2F being is not >6% (C3S, C3A, C4AF and C2F meaning respectively tricalcium silicate, tricalcium aluminate, tetracalcium aluminoferrite and dicalcium ferrite). (2) The siliceous constituent, e.g. finely ground sand, flint, or quartz, replaces kaolin or other classical aluminous constituent, and has sufficient purity for the resultant cement to be white or weakly coloured. (3) The compsn and the (siliceous constituent) (calcareous constituent) ratio are such that there is >90% C3S in the clinker. (4) The compsn. and above ratio are such that there is 2-4% C2A in the clinker.
