Abstract

The suspension is fed into a main outer tank within which are a number of open topped but sealed base filter cells esp. with opposite sides of filter material. Each cell has filtrate drain through its base the pipes then passing out through the side walls of the main tank. The accumulated filter cake on the outer walls of the cells is dislodged for cleaning by jets of fluid from a set of nozzles raised and lowered by an actuator mechanism, within the cells and directed outwards, the filter cake falling to the base of the tank for subsequent extraction as a sludge or dry cake according to the use of liquid or gas jets.
