Abstract

Cpds. of formula: X-CH2C(Me)R1-NR2-COOR3 (wher eX = o-, m- or p-trifluoromethylphenyl; R1 = H or 1-3C alkyl; R2 = H or lower alkyl, but must be alkyl when R1 = H; R3 = 1-4C alkyl), are prepd. by reaction of a cpd. (II) : X - CH2C(Me) R1-NHR2 with (a) ClCOOR3; (b) R3O-O-OR3; or (c) COCl2, opt. with intermediate elimination of HCl, and R3OH. Cpds. (I) are appetite depressants with low toxicity.
