Abstract

Gas is fed to the thermo catalytic head supplied with a self regulating current. Combustible gases burn at the head generating a rise in temperature and consequent current signal difference. The signal is fed via a relay to a mono stable multivibrator which, at a predetermined level generates a warning signal e.g. lumino-acoustic, and additionally reduces the current to the head to reduce the temperature and protect the elements. A secondary relay operating on the input voltage generates a multivibrator signal on detection of diminished voltage. Esp. used for measurement of methane in coal mine atmos., but also suitable for use in chemical and petroleum industries.
