<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Process and installation for obtaining concentrated marine proteins.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Main Belgian Patent No. 718,918 relates to a process and an installation for obtaining concentrate of marine proteins, in particular, from fish.
In accordance with said main patent, the raw material undergoes, in one and the same treatment zone, successive extractions aimed at removing fat and water. The fats are removed using a degreasing solvent chosen from aliphatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons. The water is removed by means of an alcohol.
The Applicant has observed that it is possible to carry out the degreasing and the dehydration very satisfactorily by means of one and the same solvent, preferably methanol.
In order to apply the present invention, the installation provided by said main patent can be used. However, in view of the fact that a single solvent is now used, the reservoir of degreasing solvent and the reservoir of dehydrating solvent can be replaced by a single reservoir of double capacity. The same is true of the reservoirs which collect the used solvents.
When the wringing device consists of a perforated basket rotatably mounted inside the extraction tank and contains, as a grinding and mixing device, a knife and / or paddle shaft, the latter can, during grinding-mixing, turn quickly in one direction while the spin basket remains fixed or either the spin basket

rage, or the grinding-kneading knife can be driven by a slow back and forth movement during grinding-kneading, while the member which is not driven by this movement remains fixed.
Whatever the embodiment implementing, during the grinding-kneading, a back and forth movement, the latter comprises several rotations in one direction, followed by several rotations in the other direction and so on. , at the rate of 2 revolutions per second.
After grinding-mixing, during spinning, the spin basket is driven in a rapid rotational movement.
The figure of the drawing appended hereto is a schematic view of an installation simplified to the present invention. This is of course a purely illustrative and non-limiting example.
In this figure, the same parts as in the main patent are designated by the same reference notations.
The installation comprises an extractor 1 exactly similar to that of the main patent except, as mentioned above, that during the grinding-mixing either the blade shaft and / or blades, or the spin basket can rotate inside the extractor wringer successively in both directions at a rate of 2 revolutions / sec. Said extraction and draining tank with a capacity of 300 liters comprises a solvent inlet pipe 10, the opening of which is controlled by a valve 11.
Line 10 is connected to two methanol tanks 1 and 14 ', the communication @ between line 10 and tanks 13 and 14' being set.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
by valves 16 and 17 respectively. The reservoir 13 a.
@ capacity of 200 liters, while the 14 'tank has a paoity of 5000 liters.
As can be seen, the tanks 12 and 14 of the installation according to the main patent are replaced by a tank 14 'of double capacity.
The pipe 10 and / or the reservoirs 13 and 14 'p include a device (not shown) for preheating the solvent before it enters the extractor 1.
The extraction and dewatering tank also comprises an outlet pipe for the spent solvent, the opening of which is controlled by a valve 19 and which is connected to a tank 21 'of used solvent, the communication between said :: we pick up 18 and the reservoir 21 'being regulated by a valve 23
The tank 21 'also has a capacity of 5000 liters and replaces the tanks 20 and 21 of the installation according to the main patent.
Line 18 is also connected to a device for recycling the partially used solvent to reservoir 13, this device comprising a valve 24, a line 25 and a pump 26.
Here is a non-limiting example of an operation mode according to the present invention.
EXAMPLE. -
In the extractor 1, the wringer of which contains 15 kg of fish fillet, is introduced, by opening ders var
11 and 17, 200 liters of preheated methanol from the reservoir 14. Said valves are closed and the grinding-kneading apparatus is started. At the same time the solvent is heated to 60 C. After 30 minutes of grinding-mixing-extraction, we o
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
vre valves 19 and 23 and the solvent is drained from the tank 21 '. The valves 19 and 23 are closed again. The valves 11 and 16 are then opened to introduce into the extractor 1.200 liters of methanol from the tank 13, then these valves are closed again and the second extraction cycle is identical to the one. previous.
After having expelled the methanol from tank 21 ', as in the first cycle, a third and final cycle is started by adding 200 liters of methanol from tank 14': by reopening valves 11 and 17. A at the end of this third cycle, the methanol discharged by draining and opening the valves 19 and 24, is pumped to the reservoir 13 serving to supply the second cycle.
In this way, about 30 kg of concentrated product similar to that obtained according to the main patent are obtained.
It is understood that the invention is not limited to the details described above and that it is possible to make various modifications thereto without departing from the scope of the invention.
