BREVET D' I N V E N T I O N.
Don Elmo RAINEY.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Les caractéristiques et avantages de l'invention res- sortiront plus clairement de la description détaillée suivante de quelques modes d'exécution, donnée à titre purement indica- tif sans intention restrictive aucune et illustrée par les dessins annexés, dont la figure 1 représente une vue partiellerit nt en coupe verticale et Dartiellement en élévation d'un exemple d'exécu- tion de l'invention, montrant une pluralité de glissières faites de profilés appropriés, ainsi qu'une voie inclinée unique, partant des différentes glissières et coopérant avec elles; la figure 2 représente une coupe partielle agrandie pratiquée dans la partie 2 du dispositif représenté par la figure 1 et illustrant un système de distribution graduelle de paquets provenant des différentes glissières;

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>

to form an automatic stamping mechanism, so that the packages, when leaving the device, are already. automatically priced and inventoried.
The slide-in device, with boxes, packages or other packaging of refrigerated or non-refrigerated products, can be used in grocery stores, pharmacies etc. to replace, where necessary, the usual systems of classification, inventory reading, pricing, stock rotation and refrigeration. the system according to the invention has the great advantage of compactness reduced to a minimum with maximum use of the available space, that is to say with a volume of products per unit of available space of approximately 2 to
2.5 times as large as in conventional systems. In addition, the customer sees the products, which are compartmentalized separately.
The products are spread out and distributed at the most suitable height, so that the customer no longer has to lie down or bend down to remove the items.
The system according to the present invention comprises a front loading device with a dispensing device in front of the display and dispensing lane. When the package is squeezed on the front part, its rear part rises, making it easier to remove; the next package is retained until the first is removed.
All of the slides are articulated at the base of the display slide inside the cabinet. It can be pulled out by the sherbet and be placed in a front loading position, the shelf slide being hinged by means of hinges to the anterior part of the vertical slides, thus allowing the lower slide bar to lock the shelves. packages in place both in front and behind a support hinge. The front part of the shelf slide rests on guides mounted in its lower front part

It can be seen by referring to the figures of the accompanying drawings and, in particular, to FIG. 1 relating to a first embodiment of the invention, that a main cabinet A carries a row of five vertical slides S. Each of said slides is open at the top and bottom. Under each of them is provided a single track C, extending forwards and in; clinked down-
The packages of food products are brought by means, described below, to track C, on which they are stopped by a stop device G.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
The packages of food products in question are loaded into the slides 5 and slide downwards, where they are stopped by an angular transposition device 11, described in detail below. The slides are separated by walls 8 and 12. Said transposing device is an L-shaped piece pivoting around a transverse rod.
11 'passing through tabs formed in the wall 8 by way of hinges. The transposition device 11 is pushed towards a stop position by helical springs 10, fixed, on the one hand, in the wall 8 and, on the other hand, to the vertical wall of the transposition device II.
The vertical retaining lever 9 is articulated in an opening in the wall 8 and the wall of the transposition device has a cutout to allow the pivoting of said retaining lever 9. The latter acts as a retaining member for the packages present in the slide.
The articulation of the lever 9 is indicated by the number 9 'in Figures 2 and 3. On each of the partition walls 12 is fixed an angular guide rail 13, on which the packages! are deposited and then fall on track C. A stop rail
15 also serves to guide the bundle 6 in the manner illustrated in Fig. 2. When the bundle is released from the transposing device, it falls onto the rail 13, and, when a bundle is withdrawn by the purchaser at the output end of rail C, the various packages present on the track slide downwards and thus allow the next package to come into contact with the rails 13 and to come up against the upper corner of a next adjacent package present on this track.
The packages sliding on the track C are stopped by a stop G, provided with a vertical flange 51, articulated to a lower plate 50 and urged by a spring 52, so that, when the package 6 is manually lifted and released from the stop G, the plate 50 rises to place a
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
flange in alignment with the next bundle 6 preventing it from sliding towards the flange 51, and, when the bundle has been removed from the stopper G, the latter and the plate 50 are moved downwards by the spring 52 to allow to a next package to slide into the position shown in figure 7- '
A U-shaped housing F is provided inside the stop G,
whose side walls 30 have notches
37 and which is mounted in track C. This housing F contains a counter 38 and a price marker roller 34. The latter is supported by a shaft 36, arranged removably in the notches 77, so that the price indicator roller can be replaced by one bearing other figures or be removed to change the figures. The price indicator roller in question is rotated by friction rollers 35, with which the packages 6 come into contact, when they slide on them, while an inking device 31, provided with a wick 32, ink continuously the price indicator number as the price indicator roller 34 is rotated to print the price on successive packages.
The counter 38 is actuated by the packages which successively slide over the friction roller 39 to constantly inventory the items delivered to the display lanes.
The piece of furniture A can pivot about an axis 18 arranged in diagonally opposed notches 18 ', provided in the side walls of the track C. The latter has two sections assembled by means of a support 17, such that said piece of furniture A is capable of tilting down into the position shown in dotted lines in Figure 1 to expose the open upper ends of the slides 5 for loading. The descent movement of the cabinet A in question is, as shown in Figure 1, limited by a cable.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
With regard to the embodiment shown in Figures 10 to 15, the construction is substantially the same as that described for cabinet A. The modified cabinet H, shown in Figure 10, is equipped with a row of slides
60 open at their top and provided at their base with an angular device the transposition 70.
According to this embodiment of the invention, each of the slides pours or guides the packages of food products 62 or other articles in corresponding separate inclined paths 63. Said piece of furniture H is, bark indicated at 74, pivotally supported on the rear wall of a base cabinet 59, so as to be tiltable forward and down to expose the open upper ends of the slides for loading. On the side of a last lower slide 63, comprising a roller, is fixed a support 78, to which is fixed a cable 76, which moves on a pulley 77.
A winding drum 75, to which said cable 76 is fixed, serves to bring the target track cabinet into an upper active position, a lock 80, actuated by a key, engaging with the last lower track 63.
Each of the tracks 63 is, at its front distribution end, yellowed with a stop 63 ′ and can, at its outlet end, be provided with a housing F, enclosing a counter and a price indicator roller, of the same kind. than those employed in the first embodiment of the invention and represented in FIG. 9. said stops may be of the same type as the stops G, represented in FIG. 8.
As shown in Figure 11, U-springs 61, supported by crossbars 51 'and located at a certain distance from each of the slides, have the function of wringing the sliding cover of the packages 62, and that in such a den than the total weight of the column of packages

is distributed evenly on each of the runners - The cabinet
H can be made of sufficiently strong bars, as shown, in particular, in Figure 11. Figures 12 and 13 also show an embodiment of the cabinet in bars.
Figure 13 shows another embodiment of the transposition device 70, provided with a helical spring
71. The transposition device, shown in Figure 13, is carried by a transverse rod 72, forming part of the slide, so that the packages, during their descent-movement in the slides 60, rest on the part of the device. transposition forming part of the slide, while, when the lower packet 52 engages in the distribution path, the following packet falls on the transposition device 70 and rests on the rear part of said lower packet 52, and the packets which are on track 66, descend to enter track 63, the whole group of packages sliding down to stop against the stops.
The ribs 70 ′ provided in the corner of the transposition device (FIG. 13) serve to retain by friction the rear part of the package deposited there.
In the embodiment shown in Figures 14 and 15, the entire apparatus consists of a frame with J bars forming the slides 30, provided with friction springs 91 to brake the movement of the packages 92, and also forming the tracks inclined 93. An axis 103, extending on either side through the machine, carries articulated arms 102 y, the transposition device ICI, executed according to another embodiment, thus occupying a central position relative to each slide.
Split washers 104 are fixed on the axis 103 in order to ensure an impeccable central position of the transposition device with respect to the slide-

The elements which protrude towards the rear, shown at 67 in Figures 10, 12, and 13 and at 98 in Figures 14 and 15, are opposed to the devices this transposition, respectively
70 and 101, and act as stops or guides for. packages during the passage of the latter from their horizontal position to their inclined position on the tracks, in the same way as with the transposition devices 11 and the guides 15 shown in Figures 1 and 2.
Figures 16 and 17 relate to another embodiment of the transposition device 118, which is preferred in many display and sales apparatus over the previous transposition devices 70 and 101 thanks to the fact that, unlike the latter, it no longer uses a coil spring, such as the spring 71 shown in Figure 13.
Referring to said figures 16 and 17, it can be seen that the vertical elements 110 of the framework of the apparatus define guides 112, while the elements 114 of the framework define the distribution paths 116, which are tilted down. It goes without saying that the present transposition device 118 can also be chosen to equip other embodiments of the apparatus according to the present invention, such as, for example, the apparatus represented by FIG. 1 and others. Items stored for sale are represented by AA.
The transposition device, shown in Figures 16 and 17, consists essentially of an L-shaped piece 118, articulated at the base of each of the vertical slides 112 by any suitable means, such as, for example, by means of a hinge allowing it to pivot around a transverse bar 120, provided between adjacent vertical elements 110 of the framework. The hinge is constituted by the part

122, extended rearwardly and rotating freely around said transverse bar. Sockets by way of spacers 123 are provided on either side of the articulated part 118 to maintain it correctly in the center with respect to the slide 112.
A curved arm 124 extends rearwardly from the vertical part of the transposition device Il, which curved arm the lower front face of which is preferably situated substantially in the extension of the plane of the upper front face of the device. transposition device
118 in question. As shown on the right side of the figure
16, when the transposition device 118 is in the tilted position for unloading an article on the inclined track 114, the rear edge of the next upper article slides along said curved arm 124, which thus acts as a cam, bringing back the rear transposition device in its nornal horizontal position to receive this new article, as illustrated by the left part of figure 16.
Ribs 126, similar to the friction elements 70 'shown in FIG. 13, may line the interior part of the corner of the transposition device 118 to better retain the rear part of an article AA, resting on the horizontal part of the device. transposition.
It is easily seen that the opposing vertical portions 110 of the frame members in front of the articles AA prevent these from moving undesirably forward as long as they are not unloaded onto the inclined tracks 114,
The devices according to the present invention correspond to a system of vertical slides having several depths and equipped with mechanically controlled distribution means of an entirely new design, comprising a control device provided at the base of each of the slides and having

the function of tilting the packet to deliver it thus to an inclined distribution path.
The loading of the slides from the top and their unloading from the bottom automatically cause the rotation of the product and the advancement movement of the packages in the tracks actuates a stamping roller and a counter, to sort out the packages; when they are removed from the machine, are already automatically priced and inventories. The apparatus according to the present invention comes into play for the display and sale of refrigerated or non-refrigerated food products, packages etc., and can be used in grocery stores, pharmacies etc. to replace, where necessary, the usual systems of classification, inventory reading, pricing, stock rotation and refrigeration.
It goes without saying that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and drawn here, but provides for all possible modifications and adaptations, that is to say which respect its fundamental principle and remain within the limits of claims made below.
