<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
; La. figure 12 est une vue en élévation d'une neuvième et dernière forme de réalisation du nouveau . dispositif convenant peur des tuyaux collecteurs d'août.
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
disposes coaxialement.
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>
<Desc/Clms Page number 13>
<Desc/Clms Page number 14>
<Desc/Clms Page number 15>
<Desc/Clms Page number 16>
*Les moyens de manutention mécanique sont destinés à être employés avec une grue de-travail et sont alors suspendus au crochet de levage40 de cette
Grue.
<Desc/Clms Page number 17>
<Desc/Clms Page number 18>

To this end, the new device for gripping, lifting, transporting, placing and above all placing in place at least one aforementioned construction element comprises at least one pair of arms secured to each other, provided with handling means. manual or mechanical. At least one of these arms is equipped with a means for clamping this construction element together. Generally, the clamping means in question is a preferably mechanical clamping cylinder.
To be able to be dismantled, and to be able to. be. easily transported with a minimum of bulk, the two arms of the new device are secured to each other in a removable manner.
.On the other hand, to be adaptable to various types or to various sizes of construction elements, the aforesaid two arms have an adjustable wheelbase. To this end, these two arms can be adjusted in position relative to each other. In this connection, the parts of the two arms which are adjacent to each other slide in being guided relative to each other.
The assembly of the two arms of the new device is advantageously carried out by bolts introduced into
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
corresponding coaxial openings that these arms have respectively.
For an arm to be easily adjustable in position relative to the other arm, this arm has several successive openings for housing the assembly bolts.
In their simplest embodiment, the aforesaid arms are each bent preferably at right angles so as to form together a U between the wings of which the construction element is clamped by the clamping means, in particular by the clamping cylinder,
According to features of the invention, the clamping means, in particular the clamping cylinder, can act on the construction element perpendicularly or obliquely to the two parallel wings of the assembled arms. In the latter case, the oblique direction with respect to the parallel wings of the arms is slightly inclined with respect to the horizontal and oriented upwards between these wings.
In order to grip and tighten strongly the construction element to be handled, use is made of intermediate blocks. These blocks are mounted respectively on an arm and the clamping means, in particular the clamping cylinder, carried by the other arm or on the two clamping means, in particular on the two clamping cylinders, carried by the two arms.
To be adaptable to the possible inclination of the face of the construction element against which the intermediate block rests regardless of the direction of thrust du.moyen clamping, in particular of the cylinder.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
tightening, against this face, this intermediate block is advantageously mounted to pivot at the corresponding end of this tightening means, in particular of this tightening vdrin,
In addition,
the pivoting intermediate block carries a guide blade by which it rests on a relatively large flat surface of the construction element. Thus, when clamping the construction element between the arms, the thrust exerted on this.
element by the clamping means, in particular by the clamping cylinder, is distributed over such a flat surface and provides security against any sliding of said element between the guide blade and the opposite block,
To facilitate the correct installation of the guide blade against the face in question of the construction element, the block carrying this blade is constantly urged to turn downwards by a return spring attached to the arm carrying the clamping means , in particular the corresponding clamping cylinder, In this way, the guide blade is inclined both downwards and towards this arm, Thus this blade is first in contact with the construction element near or at its upper edge ',
then rotated around the line of contact between its upper edge and this element and is finally applied against the latter on all the flat surface following when it is clamped between the arms,
In the case where the construction element is relatively high, for example in the form of a border, one of the arms of the new device is relatively long and has at the end of its free wing, a support rim
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
against which the construction eludent is firmly applied by the clamping means, in particular by the barrier cylinder, carried by the other arm,
In the case where the construction element is hollow, for example in the form of a tray, the construction element is clamped internally by two auxiliary levers articulated in the form of birds and connected respectively to one of the aforesaid arms and by means of clamps. , in particular to the clamping cylinder, carried by the other arm, or to the two clamping means, in particular to the two clamping cylinders, carried by these arms,
In the case where. the construction element is wider than the wheelbase of the arms, for example in the form of a sewer collector.
or water trickle element, the construction element is clamped externally between two auxiliary levers articulated respectively to the aforesaid two arms, at least one of these levers being controlled by the clamping means, in particular by the clamp, mounted on the. arm to which this lever is articulated.
According to an interesting feature of the invention, the aforementioned handling means comprise a handling lever secured to the two arms, preferably in a removable manner.
In order to be easily adjustable, in position along the arms, the handling lever is secured to them by means of an adjustment plate,
Advantageously, the handling lever is laterally and / or augularly adjustable in position relative to the adjustment plate. For this purpose, this plate
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
has several holes which are aligned along the arms and intended to selectively receive the connecting member of said lever and of said plate or which are aligned in a curved arc around this connecting member and intended to selectively receive a positioning member angular connected to said lever,
When the new device is handled manually, its handling means comprise two handles mounted on its handling lever and on either side of the latter. When this device is mechanically handled, these means comprise at least one cable, a sling or a suspension chain, connected to the handling lever by a connecting ring passing through an opening of the latter, and intended to be suspended from a mechanical device of lifting. If the new device consists of at least two pairs of arms, these are braced by at least one bracing bar, in particular by at least one connecting tube.
Generally, this spacer element is connected to the handling levers of the two pairs of arms. In addition, said interleaving element is advantageously adjustable in height relative to the two pairs of arms. In addition, the interleaving element in question can form a lifting beam.
Other details and features of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto, which represent schematically and by way of example only, several embodiments of the invention.

In these various figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.
The device according to the invention is used to pick up, lift, transport, put down and above all set up construction elements such as those used for road works or used for the construction of roads, tracks or the like.
In the first seven embodiments of the new device, the construction element considered is a roadside 1. In the penultimate embodiment of this device, this construction element is a waste collection container. sewer 2. In the last embodiment of said device, said construction element is a sewer collector pipe 3.
Each represented device comprises at least one pair of arms 4 and 5. Generally, the device consists of two pairs of such arms 4 and 5.
In the examples chosen, the arms 4 and 5 are each bent at a right angle. These arms 4 and 5 are joined together by one of their wings, so as to form a U together,
Advantageously, the wings of the arms 4 and 5 which are adjacent to each other, each have a series of holes 6, respectively 7, aligned rectilinearly. These wings of the arms 4 and 5 are made integral with one another by assembly bolts 8 which are introduced respectively through holes 6 and 7,
<Desc / Clms Page number 10>
arranged coaxially.
From the aorta, the two arms 4 and 5 are assembled in a removable manner and are adjustable in pool tien with respect to each other,
The arms 4 and 5 can have any cross sections. However, a particular embodiment of these arms 4 and 5 is illustrated in the second embodiment. In this case, the arm 4 is made of U-shaped profiles while the arm 5 is formed by a bent bar of practically rectangular section. These special shapes of the arms 4 and 5 allow the mutual sliding and guiding of their upper wings.
It goes without saying 'that the positioning' and the securing of these upper wings of such arms 4 and 5 are particularly easy and rapid and facilitate the adjustment of the device used.
The construction element to be handled by the new device is clamped between the parallel wings of the arms 4 and 5, using clamping means consisting of a clamping cylinder 9 in each of the embodiments shown.
In the examples chosen, the arm 5 of each pair of arms carries a clamping cylinder 9, while the attre arm 4 is devoid of such a cylinder. In alternative embodiments, the two arms 4 and 5 can each be equipped with a similar jack,
The clamping cylinder. 9 is generally mechanical.
In this case, it consists essentially of a threaded clamping rod 10 which is operated by a handwheel 11. fixed at one of its ends and which meshes with a threaded part 12 of the arm 5. The clamping rod 10 transmits the pressure. desired at building element 1, 2 or 3, by
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
its end opposite the steering wheel Il.
In some cases, the clamping rod 10 is directed perpendicular to the flange of the arm 5 which carries the clamping cylinder 9. This is particularly the case in the first embodiment in which the clamping force. developed by the clamping cylinder 9 is perpendicular to the two parallel wings of the arms 4 and 5,
In other more advantageous cases, the clamping rod 10 is directed obliquely with respect to the corresponding wing of the arm 5. In this case, the alignment direction of the clamping rod 10 is slightly inclined with respect to the 'horizontal and made with it at an angle of about 5. In addition, this direction of alignment of the clamping rod 10 is oriented upwards between the wings of the arms 4 and 5.
Such a more interesting case is shown in the fourth embodiment in which the element. construction is best maintained in a tight state between the parallel wings in question of the arms 4 and 5.
In the various embodiments shown, the construction element is clamped between two intermediate blocks 13 and 14, for example made of wood.
The block 13 is mounted on the arm 4 by means of screws 15 and with the interposition of a mounting plate 16.
Furthermore, this block 13 is fixed to this arm 4.
The other block 14 is in turn fixed to a mounting plate 17 by bolts 18. The mounting plate 17 is integral with a part 19 which pivots around a pivot 20 connected to the end of the rod. tightening 10.
In this way, the intermediate block 14 is pivotally mounted
<Desc / Clms Page number 12>
at the end of the clamping rod 10 and is therefore articulated in this way with respect to the clamping cylinder 9,
In the case where the arms 4 and 5 respectively carry similar clamping cylinders, the two intermediate blocks are then articulated respectively with respect to these cylinders, 'Advantageously, one of the intermediate blocks, that is to say. say the block 14, carries a guide blade 21 clearly visible in the first, third and seventh embodiments, -In this case,
the block 14 bears against the construction element by the guide blade 21 while 'being in contact with this element on a relatively large flat surface of the latter. This results in effective clamping of the construction element by virtue of such a contact surface between the latter and the clamping means' used. In addition, the guide blade 21 also makes it possible to guide the block 14 up against the construction element during operation of the clamping cylinder 9. In fact, when the intermediate block 14 is brought closer to the construction element to be clamped by screwing the clamping rod 10 into the threaded part 12 of the arm 5, this block 14 which is inclined downwards under the action of a return spring 22, is straightened upon contact of the guide blade 21 with this element.
The spring 22 is connected on the one hand to the mounting plate 17 of the block 14 and on the other hand to the threaded part 12 of the arm 5. FIG. 4 clearly illustrates this fact. It can be seen that the upper marginal part of the guide blade 21 touched the upper edge of the edge 1.
.
One can understand'aisement that this guide blade 21 pivots around its. contact line with edge 1,
<Desc / Clms Page number 13>
during screwing of the clamping rod 10. It can be concluded that this guide blade 21 which is inclined both downwards and towards the arm 5 is gradually straightened until it comes into contact, by almost its entire surface , against edge 1.
thus ensuring effective clamping of the latter between the intermediate blocks 13 and 14,
Each aforementioned pair of arms 4 and 5 is provided with a handling lever 23 which forms part of manual, mechanical or mixed handling means of the entire device,
In the examples chosen, the handling lever 23 is secured to the arms, 4 and 5 in a removable manner, by means of an adjustment plate 24. The adjustment plate 24 is mounted on an arm either the arm 5 or is disposed between arms 4 and 5, In addition, this adjustment plate 24 is adjustable in position along said arms 4 and 5.
For this purpose, the adjustment plate
24 in question has a series of equidistant holes 25, the spacing of which corresponds moreover to those 6 and 7 of the arms 4 and 5, In this way, the adjustment plate 24 can be placed in several different positions along the adjacent wings arms 4 and 5 while presenting however its holes 25 facing those 6 and 7 aforesaid, The assembly members of the adjustment plate 24 are advantageously the bolts 8 of mutual securing of the adjacent wings of the arms 4 and 5. Capendant, the holes
25 of the plate 24, the holes 6 of the arm 4 and the holes 7 of the arm 5 aligned coaxially can selectively accommodate like or different fasteners of the bolts 8.
<Desc / Clms Page number 14>
The handling lever 23 is thus laterally adjustable in position with respect to the arms.
4 and 5, but it can also be augularly. For this purpose, the handling lever 23 is made to pivot relative to the adjustment plate 24 as in the 'second embodiment, instead of being fixed, in particular welded, to this plate 24 as in the third' and fourth embodiment,
Thus dono to obtain the angular adjustment in question of the handling lever 23, the latter pivots about a pivot 26 fixed to the de'réglage plate 24.
On the other hand), this adjustment plate 24 has a series of holes 27 aligned along an arc of a circle centered on this, pivot 26. Furthermore, the handling lever
23 has in turn an unreferenced opening which can be selectively placed vis-à-vis the holes 27 of the adjustment plate 24, The handling lever 23 is held in position on the adjustment plate 24 not only by the pivot 26 aforesaid but also by a bolt 28 which is introduced both into the opening of this lever 23 and into the coaxial hole 27 of this plate 24 and which acts as a stop rod.
In alternative embodiments, the handling lever 23 can be adjustable in height with respect to the adjustment plate 24 or to the arms 4 and 5.
In the embodiments shown, the two pairs of arms 4 and 5 are braced by a connecting tube 29 or by a similar bracing bar.
.
As can be seen, in particular in FIG. 6, the connecting tube 29 connects the two handling levers 23 of the two pairs of arms 4 and 5 ..
<Desc / Clms Page number 15>
The 'connecting tube 29 is advantageously'. adjustable in height with respect to the aforementioned handling levers 23. To this end, each lever 23 has large circular openings 30 through which the connecting tube 29 is selectively engaged so as to be able to be assembled therein, for example by a bolt 31.
The above-mentioned handling means of the device according to the invention can be manual, mechanical or mixed.
The manual handling means consist of handles 32 which are respectively mounted on the handling levers 23 'by means of tubular supports 33. FIG. 7 shows in particular four handles 32 screwed to the ends of the two supports. tubular ports 33 respectively mounted on the two handling levers 23 by clamping brackets 34. or the like ..
The aforementioned handles 32 directed towards the outside can be adjusted in height relative to the arms 4 and 5 by virtue of the possibility of positioning the tubular supports 33 respectively along the handling levers 23.
The mechanical handling means are formed by chains 35 provided with tensioners 36. These chains 35 can be connected internally by suitable connecting rings 37 or by hooks 38, to the handling levers 23, to the tubular supports 33 or to the hook. tube. connection 29. In the latter case, this connection tube 29 is advantageously reinforced and then forms a lifter 39,
<Desc / Clms Page number 16>
* Mechanical handling means are intended for use with a work crane and are then suspended from the lifting hook40 of this
Crane.
As can be seen in FIG. 12, the mechanical handling means are also adjustable, in height relative to the arms 4 and 5. In fact, this is the case since the connecting tube 29 can be selectively positioned. upwards along the lifting levers 23. In a pinch, the lower hooks 38 of the chains 35 can be selectively introduced through the wide circular openings 30 of these handling levers 23.
In the examples chosen, the mechanical handling means comprise chains 35. In other cases, however, chains 35 - may be replaced totally or partially by cables or slings.
The seventh embodiment shown of the device according to the invention is suitable for handling relatively high building elements such as curbs 1. In this case, the arm 4 is. relatively long and has at its lower end a support rim
41.
This arm 4 is placed against the large flat lateral face of the edge 1 which is thus applied firmly against the bearing edge 41 by the clamping cylinder 9,
The eighth embodiment of the device according to the invention is suitable for hollow construction elements such as outlet manifolds 2. In this case, this device further comprises two levers
<Desc / Clms Page number 17>
auxiliaries 42 and 43 articulated in scissors around their common pivot 44. The upper ends of the auxiliary levers 42 ,,. and 43 are respectively connected to the intermediate blocks 1 :! and 14.
The lower ends of these auxiliary levers 42 and 43 are applied against the inner face of the tank 2 under the action of the clamping cylinder 9 ..
The ninth embodiment of the new device is applicable in the case where the building element, for example the collecting pipe, of August 3, is wider than the wheelbase of the parallel wings of the brans 4 and 5. In the latter case, the device further comprises .des other auxiliary levers 45 and 46 double-elbows and separated from each other. The upper end of each lever 45 is articulated to the arm 4, for example around the corresponding bolt 8. The upper end of each lever 46 is in turn articulated to the arm 5, for example around the other bolt 8. This auxiliary lever 46 is. furthermore connected to the clamping rod 10 and is thus controlled by the clamping cylinder 9.
The two auxiliary levers 45, 46 respectively, are moreover secured to each other by spacer tubes 47. The lower parts of the auxiliary levers 45 and 46 each carry a sliding bracket 48 to which is fixed a support plate 49 on which are mounted internally 'blocks 50. The sewer collector pipe 3 is clamped between these blocks 50 under the action of the clamping cylinder 9 and using the auxiliary levers 45 and 46. It should be noted that the brackets sliding 48 and therefore the support plates 49 and the blocks 50 are adjustable in height along the
<Desc / Clms Page number 18>
lower parts of auxiliary levers 45 and 46.
To this end, these lower parts of the auxiliary levers 45 and 4.6 each have a series of holes 51 opposite which can be placed selectively two ooaxial circular openings of the corresponding Strier 48 and through which can be selectively engaged a positioning rod 52 also passing through the coaxial openings of this caliper
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiments shown and that many modifications can be made within the framework.
form, arrangement and constitution of certain of the elements involved in their realization, provided that these modifications do not conflict with the object of each of the following claims.
