Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

  "Advanced pallets".

   Different types of pallets have already been proposed for handling goods. When pallets are intended for local use or to travel regularly on a well-defined circuit, their price is not of paramount importance, the emphasis being rather on longevity and ease. of use. It is often quite different when palletized goods are shipped to distant and / or sporadic buyers.

   In such cases, in fact, the problem of the repatriation of the pallets can lead to significant difficulties and, in any case, to significant costs. It would therefore be desirable to be able to consider the pallets as lost packaging, which, with currently known pallets, is often excluded given their excessively high price, which cannot

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   be supported by the goods transported. Indeed, the cheapest pallets currently on the market cost around $ 2 US, are made of wood of questionable quality, and often do not withstand the inevitable bumps and impacts during handling.

   The object of the present invention is to provide a sufficiently strong and extremely inexpensive pallet. To this end, the invention provides an improved pallet, consisting of the combination of a metal mesh top and a metal wire base constituting, on the one hand, passages for. the teeth of conventional fork carriers and, on the other hand, ': a frame ensuring the rigidity of said plate.'
Such a pallet is capable of being produced entirely by automatic welding machines, which also contributes to the desired reduction in price.

   A pallet according to the invention also offers the advantage of offering a scrap value justifying its removal after use, which is not the case with the aforementioned lost wooden pallets, particularly in countries where labor is low. Dear.

   For greater clarity, the invention is described below in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of one embodiment of a pallet according to the invention; Figures 2 and 3 are cross-sectional and longitudinal sections respectively of the pallet according to Figure 1, the figure is a schematic representation of another embodiment of the invention,
As shown, a palette is:

  we have the present invention! is substantially constituted by a metal mesh 1, preferably a welded mesh, and by a base 2 constituted by a plurality of profiled metal wires 3 arranged

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 parallél.les to the transverse direction and the other to the longitudinal direction of the mesh 1. These profiled son.

    3 are welded together at their point of intersection as indicated at 4 in FIG. 1. The three-dimensional base thus obtained is secured to the underside of the mesh 1, preferably by welding points, the location of which is some is indicated at 5 in Figure 1.

   Each of the profiled son 3 'of large diameter has. preferably a crenellated shape of which the dimension of the crenellations is established according to the widths of passage necessary for the teeth of a forklift and also correspond to a multiple, of the width of the meshes of the trellis 1 so as to obtain a set perfectly rigid,
Profiled wires! can be regularly distributed over the entire surface occupied by the lattice 1, or occupy only certain areas of these surfaces, 'for example areas parallel to the edge of this lattice, as represented by the hatched areas in FIG. 4. elsewhere,

  the profiled yarns 3 may be of equal length either to one or the other of the sides of the rectangular mesh 1, or of a length less than one or the other of these two dimensions.

   It is obvious that both the dimensions of the meshes of the plate 1 and the number, the arrangement and the shape of the profiled wires 3 can be modified in proportion to the needs, the invention not being in any way limited to the exemplary embodiment. described above.
