"AUGE D'ECHAUDAGE"
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
La fig. 1 représente une auge d'échaudage en perspective ;
La fig. 2 est une vue par l'avant de l'auge dont on a enlevé en partie la paroi avant ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"STEAMING TROUGH"
The present invention relates to a scalding trough for stripping slaughtered livestock of its hair, in particular in the case of pigs, this trough having an approximately semi-circular cross section and comprising a double bottom as well as a device. of heating.
In the scalding troughs known to date, the heating device was incorporated and this is below
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
a perforated plate provided in the bottom of the trough or in a closed chamber completely separated from the interior of the 19-trough and extending inside a double bottom.
In such cases, if the heating coil or the heater rod of the heater burned out, or if it was necessary to carry out repairs or maintenance for this heater, this required a large loss due to the installation. of work and time.
To remedy this defect, the invention provides for sliding the heating device in a chamber formed by the double bottom of a scalding trough of the type mentioned above, this annular chamber preferably being cylindrical. The invention thus allows easy and rapid access to the heating device.
In order to be able to quickly change a heating element considered alone, it is particularly advantageous to arrange the heating elements from cross members arranged transversely with respect to the length of the trough and to secure these heating elements by also holding members. transverse elements resting on a plate forming part of a cylinder, since it is thus possible, thanks to this new arrangement and despite the ease of changing the different heating elements independently of each other, easily remove the entire heater outside the trough.
Since it is necessary to avoid as much as possible any heat radiation coming from the outer wall of the trough and directed outwards, it is advantageous to provide a good insulation between the heating device and the outer wall of the trough. 'trough.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
This result is easily achieved by sucking an interesting pèrfec- .tissement of the invention thanks to the fact that the plate is applied to an outer wall of the double bottom of the trough by means of supports provided at the ends of the length of the trough and in particular of marginal elements bent more or less at right angles outwards.
It is also advantageous in this case to have a layer of heat insulating material between the plate and the outer wall in question.
In larger scalding troughs used to accommodate several animals and which have a tilting or removable grid extending along the inner wall of the trough, very advantageous operation is achieved by providing a sieve. extending over a fraction of the length of the trough since in this case a body of an animal considered in isolation and which has been sufficiently scalded to be removed from the trough, while the other animals may still remain in the trough. the trough. This makes it possible in particular to use simple tilting and lifting devices, since in this case only smaller loads may have to be handled.
Further advantages of the invention deriving from these features are indicated below, together with details of the invention which will become apparent in the following description with reference to the accompanying drawings given by way of example. On the drawings:
Fig. 1 shows a scalding trough in perspective;
Fig. 2 is a view from the front of the trough, the front wall of which has been partially removed;
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Fig. 3 shows the scalding trough in perspective, the heater being shown as partially removed.
In the drawings, it can be seen that the scalding trough 12 resting on a frame 10 has between an inner wall 14 and an outer bottom wall 16, a cylindrical annular chamber 20. Therein is a heating device which is introduced there; this heating device, the assembly of which is designated by the reference 24, is controlled by the thermostat 22.
The heating device comprises heating rods 26 which are carried by crosspieces or transverse pieces 28 and which are fixed on the cylindrical plate 34 by retaining pieces 30 and by fixing screws 32.
As for the plate 34, it rests by the supports 36 and by the support bars 38 integral with these supports and also by the folded longitudinal marginal parts 40 on the inner face of the outer wall 16 of the bottom of the trough.
In the gap formed between the cylindrical plate 34 and the outer wall of the double bottom 16 is a layer of insulating material 42 which serves to prevent any heat radiation to the outside and this at the same time as the insulating material 44 introduced the along the longitudinal edges of the cylindrical annular chamber 20.
Finally, the trough 12 carries a shaft 46 on which is wedged a grid 50 which can be tilted by acting on the lever 48. This grid only takes about half the length of the scalding trough. so that when the grid is tilted, it is possible to tilt
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
apart from the trough only a part, of the bodies of the animals contained in the scalding trough.
