<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
C'est pour éviter les problèmes que l'on vient . d'exposer que,. conformément à la présente invention, on a conçu un dispositif de commande destiné à la mise en position d'une antenne située à distance afin d'obtenir une réception maximum de signal, le dispositif précité comprenant : des dispositifs qui raccordent un moteur d'entraînement réver- aible d'antenne à une antenne afin de faire tourner celle-ci; un interrupteur raccordant une source de courant au moteur afin d'actionner sélectivement ce dernier dans un sens ou dans l'autre et de faire tourner l'antenne dans l'un ou l'autre sens;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

<Desc/Clms Page number 15>
<Desc/Clms Page number 16>

Remote control arrangement for a device rotating an antenna.
The present invention relates to a remote control and more particularly to a remote control arrangement for use with a rotating device. , an antenna, although the invention is not limited to this use.
Today, the usual devices rotating an antenna drive the radio antennas. or television at a speed of about 1 revolution / minute. Although it is advantageous to position antennas in an optimum direction at a higher speed, the rate of one revolution per minute has been considered to be the fastest acceptable rate.
Due to the weight and length of the antennas, acceleration to a higher rotational speed can create too much torque on the antenna mast when the rotational drive begins. the momentum of an antenna rotating at a higher speed and which is suddenly stopped may cause the antenna to overstep and, as a result, the antenna may not have precisely reached the desired or indicated position
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
at the point where the control is exercised. In addition, the user of the control of the device rotating the antenna may not know in advance the precise position at which the antenna gives optimum reception.
Therefore, the user often has to fine tune the exact direction of the antenna desired. For example, if the antenna is used with a home television receiver, the user will observe the television picture he is watching and set the aerial to the position giving the clearest picture. If the antenna rotates at too high a speed, this precise adjustment will be difficult, due to the tendency to overstep.
It is to avoid problems that one comes. to expose that ,. in accordance with the present invention, a control device has been designed for positioning a remotely located antenna in order to obtain maximum signal reception, the aforesaid device comprising: devices which connect a drive motor antenna reversible to an antenna in order to rotate the latter; a switch connecting a current source to the motor in order to selectively operate the latter in one direction or the other and to rotate the antenna in either direction;
and an indicator device indicating the position of rotation of the antenna, the device which is the subject of the invention being characterized by the fact that it comprises a gear change device causing it to change automatically; Rotational speed of the antenna during its rotational movement.
Thanks to the gear change device, an antenna can be driven at a first speed, during the Initial stage - and the final stage of rotation and at a different and faster pace during the remainder of the rotation.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of this antenna, For example, the antenna can be driven at the rate of one minute revolution laying the first degrees of its displacement and, during the last few degrees of
EMI3.1
this displacement # and at a rate of two revolutions per minute on the REMAINING portion of this displacement.
The antenna can be rotated at even higher speeds by gradually increasing the speed of rotation at the start of the movement and decreasing it.
EMI3.2
gradually tapering off at the end of it .. '
As an automatic device rotating an antenna, the remote control device can be used.
EMI3.3
remote to multiple motors described in the. '. U.A. rr 3,102,218 of August 20, 1963.
This remote controller uses a drive motor similar to the sorvo-motor and driving the antenna, each of which includes soft sets of co-operating inductor coils to drive the motors in a selected direction. the servo-motor that we will call
EMI3.4
thereafter the distant motor is chosen so as to have a speed slightly higher, although not too higher, than the speed of the drive motor which will be called the close motor hereinafter, so that, when
EMI3.5
the remote motor drives a use groove, such as an antenna,
This load slows down the distant engine so as to have substantially the same speed as the close engine. As a result, the two motors are sensibly synchronized. A three-position switch has
EMI3.6
been described in the patent of B, UBA * supra, one of these positions being a neutral position, another being intended for the rotation of the close motor in the direction of the needles
EMI3.7
clockwise, and the last being intended to move this motor in a counterclockwise direction.
The switch also features an action organo- '
EMI3.8
linear movement designed to actuate the switch from one position to another <The actuated device
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The aforementioned is advantageously controlled by a thrust member or cam and by a cam follower or finger, the cam comprising two concentric thrust surfaces, one of the cams being intended for the movement in the direction of the needles of a clockwise, and the other for counterclockwise movement.
The two concentric thrust surfaces are connected by a diagonal surface, the median point of which places the actuator of the switch in the neutral position, that is to say off. The thrust or cam can be moved by hand in order to actuate the switch to selected positions by rotating the remote motor clockwise or counterclockwise. The close-in motor is actuated at the same time to return the cam follower to the diagonal, neutral, or cut position.
Therefore, when the distant motor drives the use throat, the close motor drives the cam-operated switch to its off position. The present invention is described in the context of such an automatic control of a device rotating an antenna *
It goes without saying that the invention can also be used in the context of an antenna drive device of the manual or semi-automatic type.
The characteristics and advantages of the present invention are constituted by the arrangement and the combination of the parts, and by the manufacturing process as well as by the mode of implementation which will be described with reference to the appended drawing in which t FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a control assembly arranged in accordance with the general means of the present invention; FIG. 2 is a section of the apparatus shown

on fig 1;

THE INVENTION;
FIG. 7 is a wiring diagram of the control device arranged in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 8 is a schematic representation of a variant of the control system of the present invention.
Looking at figs. 1 and 2, it can be seen that the housing of a control element arranged in accordance with the present invention has been referenced. This control element comprises a near or control motor 14, a transformer 16, a switch mechanism 18, an adjustable cam 20 and a steering needle or arrow 22.
Looking at figs. 6 and 7, we see that a motor
24 antenna drive playing the role of servo-motor or remote motor, is connected in parallel with the close-up motor '14 * As will be described later, the remote motor 24 is mounted in the immediate vicinity of an antenna mast 150 and is driven substantially in synchronism with the motor 14. Although the motors are not synchronous. they: have been chosen so as to present characteristic speeds such that they have substantially identical speeds, under normal operating load conditions.
To prevent the antenna conductors from twisting, it is necessary to limit the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
rotational displacement of the drawn motor 24, in each direction at one turn of the antenna which it drives, greater a few degrees, such as for example up to an angle of 365 in each direction, 'Since the mechanism limiting the rotation motors in either direction is not part of the present invention) and has been described in the US patent above, it will not be described in the present description *.
By examining Fig. 7, it can be seen that the secondary of transformer 16 has a terminal grounded at 30, this terminal being connected in series to a terminal do, each of the windings 32 and 34 of the motor and to a terminal 'of each of the windings 36 and 38 of the remote motor 24.
Switch 18 may include a contact 40 connected in series by a movable contact 50 to the secondary of the transformer.
16 to directly power the windings 34 and 38.
A phase shift impedance, such as for example a condensa-. tower 42, connects the ungrounded terminals of windings 32 and 36 to contact 40. Thanks to this arrangement, which is well known to those skilled in the art, a phase-shifted current is applied to windings 32 and 36, this current being out of phase. forward with respect to the current sent to windings 34 and 38.
This has the effect of turning the engines
14 and 24 in one direction, by moving the contact 50 from the contact 40 to a contact 44, the current which comes from the secondary of the transformer 16 then being brought to the 'terminals-, not put µ the ground of the windings 32 and 36 , the forward phase shifted current then being applied to the unearthed terminals of windings 34 and 38, which reverses the direction of motors 14 and 24.
By now examining fig 4 together with fig. 7, it can be seen that the switch mechanism 18 which reverses the sena of rotation of the motors 14 and 24 is
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
Arranged as follows: The movable contact 50 is mounted on an actuator bar 52 which slides in such a way that it can be selectively contacted with a central open contact 54. and either of contacta 40 and 44.
Another movable contact 56 which comes into contact with an open contact 58 'for the transformer when the contact 50 is not in contact has been mounted on the opposite side of the action bar 52 with respect to the contact 50. contact only with contact 54.
It will be noted that the length of the contact 54 is insufficient to cover the distance between the contacts 40 and 44, - Two contacts 50 and 56 are short enough so that they can be adjusted so as to come into contact only with the contacts. open contacts 54 and 58, respectively, when the parking bar is moved. so that the contact 50 engages with the contact 40, the contact 56 this then engages with the contact
60a of the transformer, which closes a circuit between the winding of the transformer 16 and the energy source S.
: Similarly, when the operating bar is put in the position placing the contact 50 in engagement with the contact
44, contact 56 is in engagement with transformer contact 60b. Contacts 60a and 60b are connected together such that the primary of transformer 15 is connected to source S, regardless of that of these contacts. which is engaged with contact 56.
As one can ... see by examining figs. 4 and 7 ,. the movable contact 50 can also engage with the contacts 40a and 44a which are, from an electrical point of view, the same, respectively, as the contacts 40 and 4, At the same time, the movable contact
56 can engage with the fixed contacts 60c and 60d at the extreme ends of movement of the actuating bar 52;

it can be seen that the cam goggle 102 has an outer circular part 102a and an inner circular part 102b connected by a diagonal or median mating part 10c, the grooves 102a and 102b of the cam, constitute two thrust surfaces that are concentric and offset in the radial direction and the diagonal or median part constitutes several steps of the thrust surface decreasing in the radial direction and referenced 102D, 102E and

If the finger 104 was in the groove 102a, the contact 50 is engaged with the contacts

24 rotates the antenna, while at the same time the motor moved closer 14 rotates the arm 104 towards the cam step 102f, so that these two motors are stopped when the antenna reaches the optimum position for the spawning of radiation or television chosen. The arrangement and operation of the engine control device just described is similar to that of the US patent. above.
It will be understood that since several rungs or steps have been provided in the cam groove 02, it is possible to actuate various switches or other mechanisms to change the speed of rotation of the mast 150 of the shaft. -, 'bucket and finger 104. In accordance with the present invention, it is sought to increase in increments the speed of rotation of the antenna up to a maximum speed then, when the antenna reaches the end of its movement. , to decrease this speed in increments.
This is achieved, in the present embodiment, by using the rungs or steps.

The aforementioned mechanism can be in various forms. For example, variable speed motors can be used. The preferred and described embodiment is provided with a device controlled by a switch and intended to vary the pinion mechanism,
86 between the motor 24 and the mast 150 of the antenna.
The pinion mechanism 86 is identical both for the Iranian drive, as shown in fig. 6, and for that of the cam follower finger, as shown in fig. 2 ..
There is shown schematically, on the fig
6, the rotating mast 150 of the antenna on which is fixed an antenna drive pinion 152, itself driven by the pinion 154 of the pinion drive mechanism 86 - mounted on a support 156 which is itself even supported by a suitable fixed support 158. Mechanism 86 includes a central shaft 160, which is rotatably mounted in line to move within two spaced apart support members 162, which are supported by the support 156.
The comparison of fig. 2 and 6 will show, that pinion 90 may either be cut into the surface of the motor output shaft associated therewith as shown.

At the same time, the part 164 lowers with the clutch disc 140c, after which the clutch plate - 176 disengages from the clutch plate 174 so that the pinion 88 can rotate relative to the pinion 170. As As can be understood, when pinion 90 rotates, satellite 166 rotates around sun gear 178 driving crown 170 more rapidly, and therefore output pinion 154.
Therefore, when the solempode 140 is energized, the rotational speed of the output pinion
154, and 'consequently the load of use which it entails, are increased * It will be noted that the pinion mechanism 86 is designed in such a way that its output speed is independent of the direction of rotation and we will also notice, in fig. 5, that the parts of this mechanism which are connected together in a fixed manner, such as for example the satellite 168 and: the shaft 160, may have come as a single unit.
Since identical sets of pinions 90 and shifting mechanisms, or adenoids 140 are used with both the near motor 14 and the far motor 24, the circuit is for the ': Changing the speed of the antenna mast 150 is reproduced in the control box 10, is comparatively simple. The contacta 142 engages with a sliding contact 144 (pin 5) which is supported by the actuation ring 152 and which is spaced from the movable contact 50 * The movable contact 144 also engages with several open contacts 146, located between the two contacts 142. As can be seen, when the cam 20 rotates such that the finger 104 is inside the thrust parts 102g or 102h, the contact 144 does not engage. none of the contacts 142.
Therefore, solemoi- les 140 are not under voltage. ' However, when the cam 20 rotates such that the aforementioned finger is moved relative to the groove 102 as it passes along either of the groove portions 102s or 102e, the bar
54 is linearly displaced, whereby the contact 144 engages one of the contacts .142, which excites. the soft solenoids 140.
Schematically shown in FIG. 8 a more complicated gear change device. A thrust groove 202 has been shown to have diagonal portions 202a, 202b, 202c, 202d and 202e.
204 has been shown as being located in the groove 202, an actuating bar 252 which is attached thereto permotting to drive a contact 250 relative to it. several spaced contacts 260, 262, 264, 266, 268 and 270. The connection to the contact 250 is indicated by the contact 272. It will be understood that as the thrust groove 202 engages with respect to the finger 204, the contact 250 is selectively made with the various contacts 260, 262, 264 268,
268 and 270.
These various contacts can be used to control either mechanical or electronic devices.

either 'electromechanical to make chain the speed of rotation of the motors 14 and 24, or else that of the grooves driven by the latter.
This is why it can be seen that, thanks to the thrust groove 202 of a more complicated type, it is possible to obtain a variety of rotational speed, 11. It is understood that the pin 8 is purely schematic and, 'that in fact, the thrust groove 202 is curvilinear, each of the diagonal parts 202A to 202a being offset in the radial direction, as is the case for the groove of pouan6e 102, shown in fig 2. Similarly, the various elements 250 272 may correspond to the elements of the switch, as shown in FIG. 4.
To summarize, we can say that in the embodiment described on: rod 1 to 7, the motors 14 and 24 are rotated substantially at a speed of one revolution minute when the finger 104 is located in one or more the other the thrust steps 102 g or 102h, since the contact 50 is; consequently, engaged either with the contact 40 or with the contact 44. As the finger 140 is moved relative to the thrust groove
102, both on the throat part 102s and on the throat part 102e, the adenoids 140 are excited, since the movable contact 144 is in engagement with one of the fixed contacts 142.
When energizing the solenoids 140, the rotation cup of the output gears 154 is increased.
This speed increase can be of the order of 2 to 2.5 times the initial speed of rotation of the pinions 154. Consequently, the antenna is driven at a speed of 2 or 2.5 revolutions / minute. The initial relative movement of finger 104 with respect to thrust groove 102 is produced by the rotation of pusher member 20 when the cover 106 is rotated by hand.
Subsequently, the engine
<Desc / Clms Page number 17>
close 14 brought finger 104 to the midpoint of the step
102f, When finger 104 is trained in this manner, if it is located in either of the throat portions
102a or 102µ the antenna 150 is driven at the higher speed. when the finger 104 reaches the step 102d or
102E, depending on the case, the speed of the antenna is reduced to substantially one revolution / minute. rotation of motors 14 and
24 ceases when the finger reaches step 102F.
Thus, the speed of the antenna is automatically increased up to. a faster regime than that which could have been considered acceptable at present. At the same time, there is no sudden increase in torque on the antenna mast, since the initial speed is about 1 revolution / minute.
Similarly, it is possible to produce a precise directional adjustment in the optimum direction of the antenna, as the speed of the antenna slows down to one revolution a minute before stopping. The 102g and 102h redans can:
so represent about 102 of rotation of the an- thanks to which one can easily carry out the small directional adjustments of the antenna by turning the antenna only one revolution / minute on an angle of 102 on the side and the other of the position of the antenna. The device shown schematically in FIG. 8, is an extension of the general means shown in FIGS. 1 to 7.
It goes without saying that the description which has just been given of a presently preferred embodiment of the device of the present invention may undergo various variations and modifications in form, details, proportions and proportions. the arrangement of its constituent parts without departing from the general scope of the invention.,
