<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

Proceed to weld the wires on the condenser coils, and machine allowing its implementation. -
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The condensers used in refrigeration devices include a flat tubular coil on both sides of which are welded metal rods which stiffen it and participate in the evacuation of heat. The assembly of these rods or wires consists in placing the coil or condenser proper in a frame, then aligning the transverse wires on the condenser, by means of lairs or notches provided on the aforementioned frame, and in welding them to said coil.
This method of assembly being relatively long, the invention relates to a much faster method, oonsisting to move the coils in a vertical plane and continuously, each length of movement corresponding to the gap separating two neighboring transverse wires, and each stopping time, between two successive displacements being provided to allow welding on the two faces of the coil, of two transverse fila which, each coming from a store, are pressed on either side of the coil, by two sets of electrodes moving symmetrically in a horizontal plane, until said wires are welded against said serpentine.
'
The invention also relates to a machine making it possible to implement this method. This machine comprises means for vertically guiding the coil of the condenser two wire magazines, arranged on either side of the coil, two sweat nozzles raising one by one the transverse wires in these magazines and releasing them above. ramps which lead them against the coil, two sets of electrodes located on either side of the coil and moving symmetrically in the same horizontal plane in order to press and weld the transverse wires against the coil, and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
vertical pushers acting, during their movement from bottom to top, on the already welded wires, to lift the coil by a length equal to the interval of two transverse wires.
The appended schematic drawing represents, by way of non-limiting example, an embodiment of this machine: - Fig. 1 and 2 are respectively front and side views of an condenser, - Fig. 3 is a top view of a machine according to the invention, the transverse wire magazines being removed, and the coil being cut off at the level of the electrodes, - Fig. 4 and 5 are sectional views along respectively 4-4 and 5-5 of fig 3, - Fig. 6, 7 and 8 illustrate the three operating cycles of the machine.
Figs. 1 and 2 represent a condenser as it appears 4 the outlet of the machine, this oondenser is constituted by a coil? on each side of which are welded in parallel transverse wires 3
The machine allowing the implementation of the method according to the invention therefore comprises a support 4, serving to vertically guide the coil 2 which is in the process of being finished. This support comprises two bars 4a and 4b, in which are formed slots 5, serving for the passage of the turns of the coil 2. So that the two strands of the same turn are kept parallel to each other, the guide Dage is, moreover, provided by a vertical comb, each tooth 6 of which has a horizontal U-shaped section, and is articulated on its base, with maintenance in a vertical position under the action of springs 7.
As shown in fig. 4, the profile of each tooth 6 of the guide comb and. such as, at the intro

The two halves of the machine on each side of coil 2 being finished are substantially symmetrical. Two 8. de fi @ s stores. transversal
3 let the latter slide through a slot 9, to the bottom of a V-shaped support 11. In each of these places, the transverse threads are lifted, one by one, by a nozzle 12 from which they are torn under the action of fixed stops before the suction nozzles 12 arrive in the high position. In fact, each nozzle 12 moves angularly between two limit positions, illustrated in FIGS. 6 and 8.
The transverse wires 3 then fall on ramps 14 which direct them towards the coil 2, on either side of the oelui-oi.
Below the magazines 8 are two '- sets of electrodes 15 and 16, which are reciprocally moved towards each other in a horizontal plane, as a result of the action of a cam, respectively 17 and 18, on rods 19 and 21 which are linked to them. For this purpose, the two sets of electroding 15 and 16 are carried by two columns
22 and 23, serving them as slides.
The rollers 24 of the rods 19 and 21 are kept pressed against the cams 17 and 18 by springs 25 and 26.
Vertical pushers 27, the upper ends 28 of which are cut into sawtooth shapes, are arranged to be able to move vertically in the support 4 between two vertical strands of two adjacent turns of the coil 2. <Desc / Clms Page number 7>
carried by supports 8a articulated in 8b and are animated by vibrations.
As seen in fig. 4, the set of electrodes 15 is mounted on spring pistons 15a. The purpose of this arrangement is to compensate for the reduction in the thickness "coils 2 plus two wires 3" during welding, due to the flow of the metal, and consequently to ensure throughout the welding the pressure necessary to this weld.
Figure 5 shows that the guide support 4 of the coil 2 is surmounted by a carriage 37 movable between two vertical rails 38, carried by a support in the form of a stirrup 1. This carriage 37 maintains the last wires 3 welded to the coil 2 resting on the support 4, or on the teeth of the pushers 27 during their upward movements. In addition, by engagement on the upper ends of the coil, it ensures that it is held in a vertical plane. The cart 37 also makes it possible to control the stopping of the machine by acting on a mioro-oontaot 41 when the coil arrives, after its completion, in the high position. The position of the bar 42 supporting the oontaoteur 41 is adjustable, depending on the dimensions of the coils produced.
When the machine is stopped by the motion of the carriage 37 on the microswitch 41, all the operator has to do is remove the finished condenser and replace it with a coil. For this, he must raise the carriage 37 until the magnets 43 and 44 ensure its maintenance in the high position. After the installation of the new coil, it is easy for him to decode the magnets 43 and 44 and bring the carriage 39 to the low position.
The power supply to the electrodes
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
welding is carried out at the desired moment, by an oontactor actuated by a cam; but, any suitable control system can be adopted.
Due to the presence of numerous cams on which the transmission levers are applied by powerful springs, it could be, if the stop was carried out just before the arrival of the high point of a cam under the roller of the lever that it controls, that the pressure exerted on this cam by this lever causes a reversal.
In order to avoid any damage of oe ganre which could harm the correct functioning of the machine, the transmission chains which transmit to the shafts carrying the cams their rotational movement, also pass on free-wheeled pinions, which can also 'serve as tensioners. Another solution, which is however more expensive, consists in using brake motors.
