Definitions
- the invention relates to an automatic fin assembly machine, in particular for heat exchangers of heating appliances of the water heater or gas bath heater type.
- the automatic fin assembly machine advantageously solves these problems in that it automatically ensures, from a press supplying the fins in continuous movement, all the successive operations leading to the formation of a " finned block "especially for exchanger.
- FIGS 1 to 3 show general views of the automatic machine for the assembly of fins exiting a press 1.
- the fins 2 shown at the press outlet in the direction of the arrow in Figure 1 are immediately released from the press after the cutting tool released step by step. They are then moved by a first small chain conveyor 3 to a sliding sole consisting of two rails 4 on which the fins rest by their end edges.
- a second chain conveyor 5 is arranged longitudinally above the rails 4 so that the return strands of the chains, arranged at the bottom entrain discontinuously according to the arrows the fins by sliding them on the rails.
- the chains 5 are provided for this purpose with regularly spaced pushers 6 which attack the fins by their front edge as soon as they have been released by the first small conveyor 3.
- the fins thus move in a discontinuous movement towards two stacking stations P 1 and P 2 , produced in an identical manner.
- Upstream of the first station P l is provided a not shown system for counting the fins.
- This counting system of the induction, cell or other type therefore plays the role of distributor of fins to one or other of the stations P 1 or P 2 .
- the system for releasing the fins from the rails 4 and their stacking is ensured at the stations P 1 and P 2 by a sub-assembly of drawers, the frame 7 of which is visible in FIG. 1 and the mechanism of a station of which is shown more detail in FIGS. 4 and 5.
- the fins 2 arrive at the frame by sliding on the rails 4, under the action of the pushers not shown.
- these rails 4 are interrupted and the fins continue their movement by resting by their edges on lateral strips 8 forming continuity with the rails 4. If the fin must cross the station P 1 shown (FIG. 4 ) to go to station P 2 , it will therefore cross the frame 7 by sliding on these strips then find a new section of rails 4 to station P 2 .
- each lateral strip is mounted on a drawer 10 capable of sliding on a sole of the frame 7.
- Each drawer carries at least one roller 11 with a horizontal axis resting on a cam 12 mounted on a shaft 13.
- the cam carries a recess 14 of curvature equivalent to that of the roller 11.
- a camshaft 13a (on the right in the figures) is driven in a continuous rotational movement so that the recess 14a is presented to the roller 11a at regular time intervals.
- a coupling rod 17 connects this first camshaft 13a with a connecting rod 18 for operating the second camshaft 13b (on the left in FIG. 5). It is understood that the rotational movement of the first camshaft 13a in the direction of the arrow brings the notch 14a against the roller Ila and that this movement transmitted to the second camshaft 13b in the direction of the arrow simultaneously causes the notch 14b against the roller llb.
- the support on which the fins 2 are stacked is particularly visible in FIGS. 2, 3 and 6. It essentially consists of a carriage body 20 capable of moving in translation from the zone of release of the fins under the well 9 to the "combing" zone of the fins (described below) then to the zone for removing the finished product as can be seen more precisely in FIG. 3. This translation takes place perpendicular to the rails of the first transfer conveyor.
- a plate 21 placed above the body of the carriage is movable in height by two lateral jacks 22. This plate supports two guide pins 23 which pass through the carriage body 20 on the one hand by guide blocks 24, and pass through on the other hand a plate 25 by other guide blocks 26.
- rods 27 make integral s body of the carriage 20 and said plate 25.
- the mobile block 30 carries two centering columns 31 intended to receive the fins.
- the “carriage” assembly thus produced, illustrated in FIG. 6 therefore moves in translation as indicated above. All of the auxiliary mechanisms and flexible pipes for supplying the jacks are located below the carriage body 20. They are accessible for adjustment and maintenance by a lower chamber 38 disposed under the machine as can be seen more precisely on the figure 2.
- the jacks 22 hold the plate 21 in the high position and the jack 28 on its side, keeps the centering columns 31 also in the high position so that they extend well above the plate 21.
- the fins 2 can therefore be stacked on the plate 21 while being guided by these centering columns.
- the jacks 22 bring the plate 21 back to the low position (case of FIG. 6), to release the fin loader from the frame but the centering columns are always out of the plate 21 to maintain the stacking d 'fins. Then the carriage 20 moves to the combing area of the fins (central part of FIG. 3). There the plate 21 is raised again so that the stack of fins is level, for combing and fitting described below.
- the representation of the posts P 1 and P 2 in FIG. 2 illustrates this combing system. It can be seen at station P 2 that on either side of the central cavity 33 are arranged three groups of combs arranged one above the other. Each group 34 which has a certain number of small combs 35 is maneuvered by a lateral jack 36, which moves it transversely towards the interior of the cavity 33. The lower group 34 slides on the anvil 37 and the other intermediate and upper groups are resting on top.
- the stacking of fins is at the level of the groups of combs, the latter, actuated by their jacks 36 come to "comb" the fins, that is to say to interpose them to perfect their centering, their spacing, and to position them correctly one vis-à-vis others before the next fitting operation. Note that this operation is done in three stages, first the lower comb group, then the intermediate group and finally the upper group, this in order to correct the alignment of the fins step by step without risk of blockage. It is for this reason that the combing set was carried out in three groups rather than in a single group. The stacking of fins being thus held firmly by the combs 35, the centering columns 31 can therefore be erased.
- the jack 38 back to its rest position returns the movable block 30 to the low position for which the centering columns 31 are erased under the plate 21 (FIG. 6.) From this moment the fitting operation, that is to say the introduction into force, in the superimposed orifices of the fins which have been released. the centering columns, inner tubes which will ensure the cohesion of the fin block and which are intended for passage some water.
- FIGS 1, 2, and 3 more specifically, illustrate the fitting mechanism.
- an endless belt 39 provided with tabs 40 conveys, from a feeder not shown, the tubes 41 intended to be fitted into the fin block.
- the tubes 41 In the case shown, as there are two orifices in the stack of fins, there are therefore two tubes 41 to be fitted simultaneously.
- the tubes Upon their arrival at the top of the strip, the tubes roll on the inclined plane 42 one behind the other.
- a first tube 41 ′ stops in a first longitudinal notch of the inclined plane.
- centralizers 43 are fixed to a support arm 45 mounted on a pivoting shaft 46 which can slide vertically on lateral guide plates 47.
- a connecting rod 48 provided with cams 49 ensures the pivoting of the centralizers downwards under the effect of a jack 50 disposed at the upper part of the frame 44.
- Each centralizer carries a latching mechanism 51 of the tubes 41.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 illustrate said motion transmission mechanisms.
- a control unit 52 coupled to the press drive motor, the movement is transmitted, via the angular gear 53 to a continuously rotating transmission shaft 54 which runs all along the rails 4 to the other end of the machine in the housing 55.
- the continuous movement of the shaft 54 is transmitted by this housing, in a discontinuous movement in advance step by step from the chains 5, in a continuous movement of rotation of other cams ensuring the actuation of the actuators actuated for the other stages of production, and in particular of the actuators of the carriage assembly described above.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an automatic fin assembly machine, in particular for heat exchangers of heating appliances of the water heater or gas bath heater type.
For the continuous manufacture of this type of exchanger constituted as is known by the assembly of a determined number of fins regularly positioned in relation to each other and fitted on at least one tube, the prior art provided for a succession of stations each ensuring, manually or semi-automatically, a well-defined operation on the parts; between each. of these positions was carried out a manual or mechanized transfer with part recovery, new positioning in the working position, then new storage etc ... These successive manipulations are obviously restrictive and require all the more personnel as the operations are numerous and delicate . However, the production of an assembly of fins on one or more tubes requires numerous operations precisely because at the start there is a simple strip of sheet metal with continuous unwinding. It is first necessary to cut the strip according to the desired profile and then carry out in this profile the necessary punches and the folding of certain internal edges at the orifices or even on the side of the profile. Then - the transfer of these fins must be ensured up to the counting station where the required number of parts is arranged in superposition to then allow the introduction into the orifices of the tube or tubes on which the fins are fitted. In addition, there are spacing control and straightening operations for the fins. For this production according to the prior techniques there was also a problem of rates due to the rapid operation at certain stations and slower at others, requiring buffer zones with storage and recovery.
The automatic fin assembly machine according to the invention advantageously solves these problems in that it automatically ensures, from a press supplying the fins in continuous movement, all the successive operations leading to the formation of a " finned block "especially for exchanger.

Upstream of the first station P l is provided a not shown system for counting the fins. As soon as the required number of fins has escaped from the conveyor and have piled up at station P 1 as described below, the latter lets a new series pass to station P 2 , then again to P l , etc. This counting system of the induction, cell or other type therefore plays the role of distributor of fins to one or other of the stations P 1 or P 2 .
The system for releasing the fins from the
The support on which the
The “carriage” assembly thus produced, illustrated in FIG. 6 therefore moves in translation as indicated above. All of the auxiliary mechanisms and flexible pipes for supplying the jacks are located below the
When the "carriage" assembly is therefore under the
Once this operation has been completed, the
The representation of the posts P 1 and P 2 in FIG. 2 illustrates this combing system. It can be seen at station P 2 that on either side of the
When by the operation of the carriage assembly, the stacking of fins is at the level of the groups of combs, the latter, actuated by their
Figures 1, 2, and 3 more specifically, illustrate the fitting mechanism.
Chaque centreur porte un mécanisme d'encliquetage 51 des tubes 41.In FIG. 3, an
When the two fitted
A new operation of the carriage assembly results in the release of the fin block thus produced as seen in FIG. 3.
All of the previously described devices operate in perfect synchronism, all transfers being carried out in discontinuous movement from a continuous movement of production of parts.
All these movements are ensured from the same motor mechanism arranged at the press. Reference is made to FIGS. 1 and 2 which illustrate said motion transmission mechanisms. From a
