process for bleaching fibers and textile materials "The present invention relates to the treatment of my textiles and fibers and more particularly to the removal of the color from a dyed material, so that the latter can be dyed to new and reused.
A certain percentage of the textile materials are badly dyed and must be re-dyed because the coloring is not uniform, because the chosen coloring has not been reached or because of other reasons, such as a change of mode with regard to color. To re-dye to a different color or shade, the old color usually needs to be enhanced or toned down by a removal operation. The ability to effectively remove color has always been of importance and this is especially so with fibers.

expensive synthetics, such as acrylic fibers, known in the market as "Orlon" or "Acrilan".
Acrylic fibers, used alone or mixed with natural fibers, such as cotton or wool; or with synthetic fibers, such as cellulose acetates, polyamides, polyesters, etc., are usually dyed with cationic dyes which are difficult to remove. The presently recommended removal means are not satisfactory and where there are other fibers, especially wool, most of the dye removal means for acrylic fibers cannot be used. * The term “removal” denotes the partial or total separation of the initial coloring matter.
In accordance with the present invention, cationic coloring material is removed from dyed acrylic fibers by the use of hydrazine. As an effective removal means, an amount by weight of from about 0.2 to about 50% based on the weight of the fiber is envisioned. After the reported hydrazine treatment, the acrylic fiber, used either 100% or as a mixture, is rinsed and cleaned and may then be re-dyed with another cationic coloring material.
An aqueous solution of hydrazine is applied to the fiber in any suitable fiber-to-liquor ratio ranging from about 1/1 to about 1/50, and this application is made in any suitable manner. for example by soaking the fiber in the solution, then raising the temperature to boiling, or by soaking the fiber in the solution at a high temperature, for example at boiling . The removal can be carried out using a batch process or a continuous process. Or, instead of performing the removal in the hot liquid, a steam treatment can be employed.
One way of treating with steam is to immerse the fiber in the aqueous hydrazine solution, in

100%. and then steaming for a period of time long enough to remove the color. Whether treated by heating in the liquid or by steaming, the treatment temperature is expected to be in the range of about 80 to about 150 ° C and, at pressures above atmospheric pressure, at temperatures. about 100 C
Steam treatment can be carried out continuously.
Steam treatment is a little more effective than boil-in treatment? liquid. It is preferred for the more stubborn dyes and is carried out at concentrations of about 5 to 20% hydrazine by weight of the fiber for a period of time of about 5 to 15 minutes,
Using a fiber-to-liquor ratio of about 1/20, for example, the boiling liquid treatment is very effective with 5 to about 50% hydrazine by weight of the fiber, after boiling for a period of time. no longer about 30 minutes.
In some cases a treatment of about 2 minutes is suitable and only 0.2% hydrazine by weight of the fiber may be needed. The treatment is usually carried out for a period of time not exceeding about 15 minutes.
A 50% solution of hydrazine by weight of the fiber is used at 1000 ° C. or more for a period of up to 30 minutes, only for the more difficult to remove dyes.
Longer treatment is usually not necessary.
In order to obtain optimum results in the new dyeing, a steam treatment with 5 to 20% hydrazine by weight of the fiber for a period of not more than about 15 minutes is recommended to remove the stains. most stubborn dyes.
Most acrylic fibers are subject to o-

However, soaking in a 0.2% hydrazine solution by weight of the fiber and boiling for 2 minutes is suitable for some colors on acrylic fibers at.

The fabric which has been removed, then rinsed and cleaned, is satisfactorily dyed using 1% by weight of the fiber of the Macilon Red BL dye material.
These cationic dyestuffs are commonly employed in the dyeing of acrylic fibers and are commercially available. Each neck material is applied using a recommended IT dyeing process, which is
