<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

Mr. ORESTE MARIANI in Seregno (Milan) - Italy Double cover umbrella
The present invention relates to an umbrella with double cover.
As is known, very recently, ladies' umbrellas having two overlapping covers mounted on the same frame have been put into use, the outer cover being normally in one color (solid color) and the lower cover having colored and various designs. This gives an umbrella with a particularly aesthetic appearance.
Of course each of the two covers, the interior of which is a little less extensive than the exterior, is obtained
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in the usual way, that is to say that the necessary sectors are cut, in an appropriate manner, in respective pieces of fabric, then assembling the sectors by sewing together to form said covers. These covers are then applied to the frame in the usual way. However, such umbrellas are relatively expensive, since in practice it is a question of making two umbrellas on the same frame.
The object of the present invention is to very significantly reduce the price of said umbrellas, by drastically reducing the cost of labor both for the preparation of the two covers and for their assembly.
The umbrella according to the present invention is essentially characterized in that the inner cover consists of a single element, having the shape of a regular polygon obtained from a sheet of a textile material, elastically flexible and extensible in all the senses.
The invention will be described above all in one of its embodiments, which is given purely by way of illustrative and non-limiting example, with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIG. 1 represents a perspective view of the interior an umbrella according to the present invention; , Figure 2 shows on an enlarged scale a partial section along the line II-II of Figure 1; and FIG. 3 represents, still on an enlarged scale, a partial section along the line III-III of FIG. 1, that is to say a section corresponding to an attachment point which is located at a top of the interior cover and in an intermediate place of the exterior cover.
According to the figures listed above, in order to manufacture the umbrella 0 according to the present invention, one begins by preparing, in the known manner, the outer cover C1 formed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
of sectors S (generally eight or ten, preferably ten) joined to one another by their lateral lines 1 so that the edge 2 is on the outer periphery 3.
The inside cover C2 is then placed inside this outer cover C1 which, according to the invention, consists of a single element 4, in the form of a regular polygon, having as many sides 5 as there are. 'intervals between the branches 6, that is to say as many as there are branches 6, ie normally ten.
Element 4 also has a central hole (invisible in the figures) which coincides with the hole, also central., Which appears on the outer cover C1 and corresponds to the inner vertices 7 of the sectors S.
It is possible to use a single element 4 for the cover C2, given that said element, instead of being formed by joined sectors, as is the outer cover C1, and as was done according to the methods known until now. 'here is made of a flexible textile material capable of being elastically stretched in all directions. Such a material is preferably made of an interwoven mesh fabric, such as certain stocking fabrics, in order to be flexible in all directions. It can therefore be obtained from any yarn of silk, cotton or preferably nylon or a similar synthetic plastic material, provided it is so interwoven.
Once the covers C1 and C2 arranged so as to make correspond not only the central holes, but also the vertices 8 and 9 of the two polygonal figures with the same number of sides, said covers are threaded on the mast 10, at the end opposite to the handle 11, and the two superimposed covers are fixed to the branches 6 by means of points 12 corresponding to the tops 8 of the inner cover, and the outer cover C1 to the ends 6 'of the branches 6 by means of points 13, and the umbrella is finished. Of course the cover C1 is also, as usual, fixed to the mast 10, at the corresponding points.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
dant to the summits 7.
Cover C2 can also be fixed on the other side of the ribs, its center being fixed on the nut instead of being fixed on the round.
CLAIMS
