<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
enroulement.

Mooring buoys, whatever their shape and size, are substantially constituted by a float, a mooring ring fixed to said float, a heavy mass resting on the bottom and, between said float and said massai a flexible but good resistance binding, usually a chain.
These mooring buoys, more especially for small tonnage boats and more generally still for pleasure boats, are commonly used in the absence of docks or mooring banks.
Although theoretically mooring buoys in their traditional form appear capable of fulfilling their function, it is well known to users that they present, in practice,

the intermediary of any means whatsoever is brought on board by a tensile force which has the effect of unwinding the cable, leaving the float of the buoy practically stationary.
Another object of the invention relates to the realization of this new means in a form such that, when the cable is fully unwound, the tensile force exerted on said cable by the boat is transferred not to the float but directly to a fastening mass resting on the bottom.
Yet another object of the invention is found in the compartmentalization of the float and the filling of the compartments, except that intended to house the cable wound support, with the aid of an extremely light and non-absorbent material, preferably a material. Expanded plastic with a closed cell texture, so as to ensure the permanent flotation of the buoy even in the event of accidental ingress of water, in particular in the area of the mooring cable pass.
Yet another object of the invention is to be found in the production of the float and its filling, both of suitable plastic material, said float being easily removable at least in two parts so as to be able to easily place, respectively remove the winding device from the mooring cable, in particular for the purposes of manufacturing, checking, maintenance, repair or replacement,
Yet another object of the invention relates, as a new industrial product, to the winding device per se formed substantially by the combination of a relatively narrow spool of large diameter, having a hollow hub also of large diameter and an axis the length of which. is substantially greater than the width of said pulley;
a U-shaped stirrup presenting ,! ' towards the free end of its two branches, a seat for the corresponding axle ends of said pulley, a mooring cable of which? one end is fixed to said axis and the other end is lined with

the mooring ring and, finally, integral with the middle part of the central branch of said stirrup, a pin end intended to pass through the lower part of the float and to be connected to the end ring of the chain to connect said ground float resting on the bottom. :
This same winding device can be housed indifferently in floats of any shape biconical, cylindrical, barrel-shaped, spherical, etc.
Finally, yet another object of the invention is found in the fixing, in line with the connection between the windable cable and the mooring ring, of a profiled element or not, generally in a relatively elastic material such that it is capable of being applied firmly to the delusional nozzle of the cable pass when the latter is completely wound up * It is for simple example, so no limiting nature, that executions are described in more detail below * below,
it being understood that the invention relates to any generally any mechanical combination connecting the mooring ring to the float by means of a cable or equivalent erasable element in said float.

In this embodiment, the float 'is produced by the coaxial arrangement of two conical hollow elements mutually secured by a screw thread 10 and hooking claws 11. Small lateral orifices arranged above the waterline prevent filling float 1 with water.

This device consists essentially of a

<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
lower than that of the handle embryo 16 of the fork so as to produce an energetic tightening, the chain 3 being directly attached to the lower end of said handle embryo 16.
For ease of construction, visits, maintenance and repair, the float 1 is preferably made by two shells 24-25 assembled by bolts 26 passing through the peripheral bases? * Actively 27-28.
In order to be able to possibly repair the effects of wear which could appear in the right of the mouthpiece 9, as a result of the continual friction of the cable, it may be recommended, as shown diagrammatically in FIG. 7, to use a removable mouthpiece 29, for example fitted by clipping and made of a material best suited to withstand said wear in proportion to the nature of the outer surface of the mooring cable 4.
For example, if this consisted of a stranded steel cable of 1 6 to 8 mm in diameter wrapped in a plastic sheath, for example nylon, said mouthpiece 29 could be made in the same one. plastic or any other tightly textured material with high wear resistance, respectively very low adhesion.
In case of wear, it would suffice to replace this part. In order to be able to engage it, respectively disengage it, it may be recommended to give it a split annular cross section.
It goes without saying that these embodiments are given only by way of example without any limiting nature and that the invention relates to any generally any buoy, of any shape and of any size, as well as to an industrial product. triel new any furling device suitable for the production of such buoys substantially as described above *
Thus, the mooring line can be cleared in or through the buoy by any means other than an elastic return or a
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
winding.
In another form very characteristic of the invention, the removal of the cable in, respectively through, the float 1 can be achieved in a simple and excessively economical manner by the return of a weight or counterweight. Indeed, as briefly diagrammed in Figure 8, the float 1 can be crossed right through by a tubular passage 30. The mooring 1 passes through said passage and is provided at one end with the mooring ring 2 . and, at the other end, of a weight or counterweight 31. Or else, said moored can, by its lower end, be connected to the float 1, in which the weight or counterweight 31 has a ring 32 crossed by said primer.
This second solution has the drawback of requiring a higher weight 31 but makes it possible to practically double the length of the available mooring line, which can be advantageous in the event of a low bottom,
One could obviously adopt any other generally unspecified embodiment allowing such a passage from one side of the float 1 to the mooring line 4.
