<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
tirant.,
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>
<Desc/Clms Page number 11>
<Desc/Clms Page number 12>

The invention relates to anchoring pegs (hereinafter referred to as "anchoring pegs of the kind specified which comprise an expandable anchoring member, in the form of a jaw and a tie rod, the internal end of which comprises means specific to produce the expansion of said member after its introduction into a drilled hole, the tie rod and the extinguished anchoring member capable of coming into contact with one another, in such a way that the tie rod is prevented by the anchoring member to move axially out of the hole: drilled.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
An anchor bolt of the kind specified is decirt in French patent No. 1,118,785, filed on December 10, 1954 in the same note) this peak comprising in combination, an anchor member, in the form of a sleeve in which slots are formed. longitudinal sections which extend from one end of said member over part of the length thereof, and a tie rod provided with a rod which can be axially displaced in said member and whose dimensions, in internal cross section of said member of anchoring,
said tie rod carrying lateral fins which have the shape of a wedge when viewed from the side and which occupy locations such that they can penetrate into respective slots of the anchoring member, so as to separate from each other the parts of its wall separated by the slits and thereby producing the expansion of the slotted part of the anchor member, the thicker ends of the wedge-shaped allettes having a width which is not, in substance, inferior - re the diameter of the rod of the tie rod and the slots having a length such that, when the wedge-shaped fins are engaged almost completely in the slots, the edges of these are separated pn from the other of a length, measured at the entrances to the slots,
which is not substantially less than the width of the thickest ends of said fins.
In French Patent No. 1,118,786 filed on December 10, 1954, with the same name, a method is described, inter alia, for the installation of an anchoring pin of the type specified according to which the operation, for producing the expansion of the anchoring member, consists in subjecting this member, near its introduction into the internal part of the drilled hole, to opposing forces, oriented longitudinally and transmitted to this member by two elements placed in the sound of the hole. length of the drilled hole, one of which may be the tie itself, while the other may be a tubular member determining the position of the eyebolt and extending along the drilled hole coaxially with respect to the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
pulling.,
these two elements also determining the position of the anchoring member during its expansion, said forces being exerted on these elements by a device actuated by a pressurized hydraulic fluid.
Although the establishment of acnrage eyebolts of the kind specified by the procedure referred to above, - has in practice given complete satisfaction, it is sometimes desired to refrain from 'making use of the tubular element determining the position of the eyebolt 'to cause the expansion of the sleeve-shaped anchoring member.
When the tubular element determining the position of the eyelet is not used, it is possible, in certain cases; to effect the expansion of the anchoring element in a satisfactory manner, taking advantage of the fact that, during the initial phases of the expansion, the longitudinal forces exerted on the anchoring member and tending to move the latter towards the outer end of the drilled hole, are less than those exerted during the last phases of the expansion, and due to the fact that the contact with friction between the anchoring member and the walls of the drilled hole may be sufficient to maintain this member in the desired position in the inner end of the drilled hole, during these initial phases of expansion.
When a certain expansion has been obtained, the anchoring member presses with increased force on the walls of the drilled hole and the final stages of expansion can then take place without the occurrence of unwanted significant movement of the hole. the anchoring member towards the outer end of the drilled hole.
There are, however, cases where a satisfactory expansion cannot be easily obtained without the intervention of a tubular tool determining the position of the eyebolt and the object of the invention is to achieve this new or permanent anchor bolt. - fectin, the anchoring member of which is capable of undergoing satisfactory expansion, without the use of a tool of this kind.
The subject of the invention is an anchoring pin of the kind
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
specifies in which the sleeve-shaped aner ge organ is suitable for being connected, in its non-expanding state, to the tie rod, so as to be able to be introduced by the latter into the hole drilled towards the end internal of the latter, and in which is added to the anchoring member a retaining member comprising one or more support elements suitable for projecting laterally on the outer peripheral face of the anchoring member, when an extraction force is exerted on the tie rod, and to penetrate into the side walls of the drilled hole to oppose the release of the anchoring member,
these support elements being suitable for being bent inwards by the walls of the drilled hole or for being held inwards by the tie rod itself when a thrust is exerted on the tie rod to produce the movement of introduction of the anchoring member in the hole,; drilled.
The retaining member may include several of these support elements, these having the form of elastic metal arms whose front ends are in contact or suitable for being placed in contact with the anchoring member, the rear ends these arms being inclined so as to move away from the axis of the anchoring member.
Preferably, the arms form an integral part of a body of the retaining member, this body being connected or being able to be connected to the anchoring member. Advantageously, the body may include an elastic metal clamp, the rear end possibly comprising a complementary housing suitable for receiving said clamp.
According to a variant of the ivention, a retaining member comprising a washer, in state metal, the circumference of which is profiled so as to form elements suitable for bearing on the side walls of the hole drilled only in two diametrically opposed locations, For this embodiment of the invention, preferably two
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
washers of this type, these washers being oriented in such a way that the respective diameters on which the bearing elements are located, in each case, are perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to each other.
For any one of the aforementioned embodiments of the invention, the rod of the tie rod may include shoulders suitable for coming into contact with the faces of the retaining member oriented towards the outer end of the drilled hole when this or- grole is housed in this one.
If the retainer is constituted by one or more washers, the shoulders are preferably arranged so as to come into contact with the washer (or with that which is closest to the outer end of the drilled hole. ) at one or more points of the marginal zone which extends around the openings of the washers and which has an outside diameter smaller than that of the anchoring member itself
This arrangement makes it possible to bend the or each washer, so that the support elements flex towards the axis of the tie rod and towards the external end of the drilled hole during the introduction of the anchoring member.
In the case where the retaining member comprises arms of elastic metal, although it is advantageous to use shoulders similar to those described above, it is not so important to give these shoulders dimensions and locations depending on the function which must be fulfilled by the retaining member as in, the case where the latter is constituted by one or more washers, since the elastic metal arms themselves are inherently less inclined and are able to bend more towards the interior of the side of the tie rod without being hampered by the equlements
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, some embodiments of the invention.
Fig 1 shows, in side view, an anchor point,
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
etabir according to the invention, after its introduction into a drilled hole, the constituent parts of this eyebolt being shown in the positions they occupy before the expansion of the anchoring member
Fig. 2 shows, similarly to fig1 this same piton whose constituent parts are shown in the.
Position - which they occupy after expansion.
Fig 3 shows, similar to fig.1 but the drilled hole being removed, an anchor bolt established according to a variant.
Fig. 4 shows, in end view from the side of its rear end, the anchoring pin of FIG. 3.
For the example shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the anchoring member, in the form of a sleeve, is itself preferably constituted by two separate shells 10, in the form of segments, which, at the 'state of non-expansion (shown in fig.l), are in edge-to-edge contact, so as to form a sleeve which surrounds the rod 11 of the tie rod, this rod having its diameter such that there is a slight clearance between it and the internal face of the sleeve formed by the shells 10. to produce the expansion of the shells 10, the rod
11 has an enlarged front end 12 which, in cross section,
comprises two semi-circular parts 13 and a wedge-shaped part 14, the semi-circular parts
13 having respective diameters equal to that of the rod 11 of the tie rod. The enlarged end part 12 is shown as an integral part of the rod of the tie rod, but it is understood that it can, if desired, be constituted by a structurally separate element, provided with a threaded hole into which a threaded part can be screwed. from the front end of the tie rod, so that the rotation of this rod can pull the enlarged part towards the outer end of the drilled hole and thus cause the expansion of the shells s 10
For the layout shown,
this is obtained at the aid
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
of a nut 15 engaged on a threaded part 16 of the outer end of the rod 11 of the tie rod, this nut bearing on a plate 17 in contact with the surfaces 18 of the rocks or other material surrounding the drilled hole 19.
To be certain that the shells 10 are forcibly separated from each other by the initial tightening of the nut 15, or by any other force exerted on the tie rod and tending to make it come out of the hole (for example by a sudden shock produced on the outside) is added to the shell 10 a retaining member 20.
This retaining member 20 comprises a body in the form of a disc made of an elastic metal, this disc being pierced with a hole, the diameter of which is such as to allow the passage, with gentle friction sliding, of the rod. 11 of the tie rod.
The periphery of the disc has nozzles or hooks 21, integral with this disc and angularly spaced from each other ,. so as to be engaged in a groove 22 formed in the outer peripheral face of each shell 10, near the rear end thereof.
It should be noted that the beaks or hooks 21 are curved inwardly, so that their assembly forms a kind of clamp whose jaws abruptly cling to the rear part of the anchoring member formed by the shells 10 The spouts or hooks therefore serve to hold the two pins together on the rod 11 of the tie rod during the introduction of the anchoring member and of the tie rod into the drilled hole. They also serve to attach the retaining member to the anchoring member.
At points located between the spouts or hooks 21, the retaining member comprises arms 23, made of an elastic metal. which are fully connected by their front ends to the body of the retaining member and diverge by. the contribution to the axis of the rod 11 of the tie rod towards the rear end thereof.

In their natural state or not requested the rear ends-Se these arms 23 extend, preferably, Leié ralemet beyond the outer peripheral faces of the shells 1.0 ... and are therefore forced back inside. through the walls of the drilled lathe 19, during the introduction of the angle member and the retaining member ... This is not absolutely essential and 1,1-natural state of the arms 23 may be such that they occupy the positions shown in fig.1
The 'tie rod itself carries shoulders such as projections 24 which can be obtained by deformation of the material constituting the tarant, these projections 24 having abutment faces on the side of the front end of the tie rod,
these face-0 being preferably in a plane perpendicular to the axis thereof so as to come into contact with the face of the body of the retaining member, oriented towards the external end of the hole drilled.
When a traction force is exerted on the rod 11 of the tie rod, part of this force is transmitted to the shells 10 and these tend to move away from each other by the action of the end part. enlarged 12, while being also displaced along the drilled hole towards the outer end thereof
To this last component of the movement opposes the retaining member - whose arms 23 act as clicks which penetrate into the surface layer of material surrounding the borehole 19,
as shown more especially in fig 2 This penetrating movement is aided by the outward pressure exerted by the arms 23 on the wall of the drilled hole but it would occur even if this outward pressure, due to the inclination of the brae 23 did not exist.
By continuing to exert a tensile force on the rod 11 of the tie rod, for example following the tightening of the nut 16 until the full tensile force acts on the

pulling, we introduce the enlarged end part 12 completely between the shells c omnre visible in FIG. 2. It should be noted that when the shells 10 have undergone some expansion, it is not necessary to rely any longer on the retaining member to prevent the axial displacement of these shells towards the outer end of the drilled hole since those they themselves oppose this movement.
The retainer 20 is useful only during the initial expansion of the shells 10 when the axial force producing this expansion is of a very low value compared to that ultimately obtained by a member. retainer, of relatively light construction, compared to that of the shells, may be suitable to fulfill the aforesaid function.
. The retainer may be made of a steel which can be suitably case-hardened and, after shaping this member by stamping and stamping until it has the necessary shape, it can be case-hardened by a stamping member. heat treatment before being quenched.
For the device shown on the figs. 3 and 4, the members corresponding to those of the device of figs.l and 2 are designated by the same reference numerals.
In this case, the enlarged end part 12 of the rod 11 of the tie rod comprises fins 25, in the form of a wedge, arranged so as to be able to penetrate into the slots 26 formed between the neighboring edges of the two shells 10. The rod 11 may comprise wedge-shaped fins similar to those described in the Franco patent 1,118,785 referred to above.
The shells 10 for this arrangement are in place on the rod 11 of the tie-rod, by means of a strip 27 of rubber or other similar elastic material.
The retaining member 20 of this device may include a set of rordelles 25 and 29, the central openings of which

are such that they can slide on the rod 11 with a certain play. The periphery of each washer can be defined by the intersection of a circle and parallel strings spaced from each other by a distance slightly less than the diameter of the sleeve-shaped anchoring member, formed by the shells 10, so that each washer has protruding bearing parts designated by 300 for the washer 28 and by 31 for the washer 29.
The two washers are connected to each other and to one of the shells 10 using a rivet 32 engaged in a hole in the. interested shell 10.
The washers can be made of resilient steel and each have a thickness of about 0.3 May. while being interconnected, in such a manner, as can be seen in FIG. 4, that the central lines (which are also diameters) of their respective protruding parts, are perpendicular to each other or at least approximately
The protrusions 24 which, as can be seen in fig. 1, are triangular in shape, are preferably embossed laterally to such an extent that they still lie in the marginal region which runs alongside the openings of the washers 28 and 29, this marginal region having an outside diameter smaller than that of the shells 10.
When the device shown in fig. 3 is engaged in the drilled hole, the protruding bearing parts 30 and 31 of the washers can flex towards the outer end of the drilled hole as well as towards the inside of the tie rod axis side, so that this device can be moved along this hole without being unduly hampered, while the movement in the opposite direction is considerably hampered by the fact that the bearing parts 30 and 31 of the washers have a certain tendency to deform elastically towards the outside until

come to be placed in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the tie rod while pënétrant in the side walls of the hole.foré.
Without departing from the protection limits of the invention, the spring washers could be given a slightly convex shape, their concave faces being on the side of the outer end of the drilled hole. In this case, the action of an axial thrust exerted on the anchoring member, shaped. sleeve, towards the outer end of the drilled hole, would tend to flatten the washers and force them to penetrate into the side walls of the drilled hole, thus retaining the anchoring member during the initial phases of the expansion obtained by the introduction of the wedge-shaped fins between the edges of the two shells.
Instead of relying on the contact between the arms 23 and the walls of the drilled hole to bend the arms inwards, during the introduction of the device into the drilled hole, the body of the rete member could be given - Bare a shape such that the thrust exerted on this member, during the introduction, by the shoulders 24, causes an elastic deformation of said body and a decline of the arms 23 inwardly of the c8té of the axis of the tie rod, independently any similar inward bending produced by contact with the walls of the drilled hole. This can be achieved by giving the body of the retainer the shape of a dome, the convex face of which is on the side of the outer end of the drilled hole, this face coming into contact with the shoulders.
For this arrangement, a relatively narrow annular washer may be interposed between the projections 24 and the body of the retaining member, so that it exerts pressure on the latter in an annular zone surrounding the opening of said body.
It should be noted that the shape of the enlarged end 12 of the tie rod, shown in fig S, is interchangeable with that, shown in figs. 1 and u, and that any
