<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

A known ditch clearing machine has an auxiliary mechanical control, a conveying screw and a centrifugal wheel mounted on the same shaft, the conveying screw of which is surrounded by a closed conveying pipe, the wall of which is notched at its ex. - Front end preferably on part of its periphery, so as to partially uncover the transport screw. A particularly intense throwing action is achieved by giving the vanes of the centrifugal impeller a curved shape in the opposite direction to the direction of movement of the rotor.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
rotation of the impeller, that is to say in the opposite direction to the ordinary curvature of the centrifugal wheels.
This clearing machine gives satisfactory results, however, owing to the transverse force exerted during walking in the same direction by the conveyor screw, and having the effect of transmitting a torque to the machine, the latter has l 'disadvantage of having a tendency to tip over on one side.
The main object of the invention is a ditch clearing machine which overcomes this drawback. Its object is also to increase the efficiency of the machine, without increasing its dimensions beyond those which must be retained so that the machine can be easily operated by two workers.
Moreover, the object of the invention is to make unnecessary the wheels which. have hitherto been used to drive the machine forward and replace it with another mode of propulsion which is better suited to the conditions of clearing the ditches.
The invention relates to a ditch clearing machine comprising a mechanical drive, an earth conveyor screw and a centrifugal wheel, the conveyor screw of which is surrounded by a pipe closed at its periphery, the wall of which is indented at its end. mited anterior on part of its periphery, so as to partially uncover the conveyor screw of the earth.
According to the invention, the machine has two conveyor screws instead of one, which are arranged parallel to each other, one next to the other, turn in opposite direction and are surrounded by a joint conveyor pipe. preferably in the form of a bathtub, notched in its part, lower in the vicinity of its anterior end,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
It follows from this form of construction that the forces exerted during operation by the conveying screws which are transmitted to the machine by tending to make it tilt are mutually compensated. In addition, by arranging two conveyor screws which act in the same direction and transport the loose masses of mud from the front to the rear of the machine, the efficiency of the machine is considerably increased.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the machine can rest on the tub-shaped transport pipe as on a sled runner. A cable drum actuated by it and one end of the cable can be attached to a fixed point located forward in the direction of the forward movement can be placed on the machine for advancing it. This mode of propulsion makes it possible to obtain a considerable tractive effort which also contributes to increasing the efficiency of the machine.
According to yet another characteristic of the invention, it is possible to place conveyor screws at the end of the shafts and above them the transmission casing, above this casing the cable drum a behind it the centrifugal wheel, the axis of which is placed above the screw shafts, as well as the earth projection pipe and behind this pipe the machine control motor.
A particularly advantageous distribution of the total weight of the machine is obtained by this form of construction. Since the axis of the centrifugal wheel is placed above the shafts of the conveyor screws, this wheel can be given a larger diameter, allowing it to catch the masses of mud which are located at the bottom. bottom of the tub and are transported by the two screws and project them very violently from bottom to
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
up through the blast pipe. Preferably the curvature of the blades of the centrifugal wheel is directed in the opposite direction to its rotational movement. The centrifugal action can be further enhanced by giving the outer end of the fins a slight additional curvature in the direction of the rotational movement.
In addition, the engine control elements and the transmission housing can be operated by handles arranged on the stretchers of the machine which can be driven from behind by the stretchers, its behavior is similar to that of a plow, is convenient and not tiring for the worker.
The invention is described below in detail by way of example with the accompanying drawing on which FIG. 1 is a side elevation of an exemplary form of construction of a ditch clearing machine according to the invention, FIG. 2 is a front elevation and FIG. 3 is a section taken along the plane passing through line III-III of FIG. 1.
The conveyor device, which in principle consists of two conveyor screws 1, 2, is surrounded by a transport pipe 3, the periphery of which is closed, and the wall of which is notched at its front end on a part of its periphery. The transport pipe 3 widens at its lower part in the form of a bathtub and its bottom 4 forms a sort of sled runner.
The propelling device of the machine consists of a cable drum winch 5 mounted on the machine, and the free end of the cable 6 can be attached at a fixed point located forward of the path followed by the machine and not shown. A guide 7, the height of which can be preferably adjusted, serves to guide the cable.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
One of the conveyor screws is right-hand and the other is left-hand. A transmission case 8 and above it the cable drum 5 are arranged at the rear end of the conveyor screw shafts and above them. Behind the drum is a centrifugal wheel 10, the shaft 9 of which is disposed above the shafts of the conveyor screws, with its projection pipe 11, behind which is disposed a control motor 12, preferably a Boxer motor, to horizontal cylinder. A fuel tank is designated by
13 and one fan housing by 14. The flywheel of the engine is not visible.
The machine is driven by means of two stretchers
15, 16. The control elements of the machine can be actuated by handles arranged on the branches or in their vicinity. A handle 17 actuates the clutch of the conveyor screws and a handle 18 that of the winch. The throttle control motor
5 is designated by 19, The masses of mud transported by screws 1 and 2 arrive below the transmission housing 8 in the centrifugal wheel 10 which projects them into the open air through the projection pipe 11, following - with a high curved trajectory.
The total length of the machine can be about 2 m and that of the cable 50 to 100 m. The control motor, for example with a carburettor, is preferably operated by means of a demulti- plication 12a attached to the engine, with a gear ratio of 1: 2, and a chain transmission
12 b, rotating the main transmission of the housing 8 /. The centrifugal wheel can rotate at 1500rpm, the winch at 15rpm. and the shafts of the two augers at 350 rpm. The total weight of the machine is about 250 kg. '
