<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

The present invention relates to a joint lining composed of a retaining strip, and cement, lut or mastic, where the retaining strip serves to anchor the extended mass of cement or introduced under pressure in the joint between two elements of rigid construction which move relative to one another. When, as a result of the movement between these two elements, the shape and dimensions of the joint existing between them change, there is a risk of unreinforced cements breaking or being driven out of the joint.
In the case of mechanical stresses, such as those which appear, under the influence of a third agent, in hydraulic constructions,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
roads, etc., the cement risks being driven out or washed away when the officer in question comes into direct contact with it.
The gasket lining according to the invention reduces the importance of these detrimental phenomena. It is characterized by at least one closure element which isolates the seal from the outside, as well as by a central bead to which are connected on either side of the anchoring and retaining tabs or wings. , the cement being introduced under pressure between the closure element, the central bead, the anchoring and retaining wings, as well as the two construction elements.
A few embodiments of the object of the invention will be described below, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 represents an embodiment of a gasket lining, in section.
FIG. 2 is another embodiment of a gasket lining, also in section.
FIG. 3 represents the gasket lining according to FIG. 2, after expansion of the joint.
FIG. 4 represents the gasket lining according to FIG. 2, after the collapse of one of the building elements.
Figures 5-7 show other embodiments of retaining bands.
Figures 8 and 9 show a retaining strip and comprising a central gap with a toothed profile / provided with a spacer wedge which fits into this gap.
FIG. 10 represents a reinforcing or reinforcing member.
Figure 11 shows a retaining strip made of sheet metal.
FIG. 12 shows part of a retaining strip made of sheet metal and of a ceramic mass.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Figure 13 is another embodiment of a retaining band.
Figure 14 shows a labyrinth packing to seal the central gap.
Fig. 15 shows a backing strip for long joints stressed on both sides.
The gasket insert shown in fig. 1 has a retaining band. This strip has a closure element 1, to which is connected a central bead 2 having on either side wings or anchoring and retaining branches 3. Such a strip is interposed between rigid construction elements 4 and 5, concrete blocks for example, in order to ensure the anchoring of a mass of cement 6 introduced under pressure between these elements 4 and 5. The anchoring and retaining wings 3 also have lugs d. anchor 7, which contribute to the constitution of the reinforcement for the cement.
When the building elements 4 and 5 move, for example under the influence of temperature or as a result of subsidence, the seal between these two elements is nevertheless maintained, thanks to the cement. In order to prevent the cement from being carried away by a liquid or driven out by pressure, retaining bands are used according to FIG. 1, for example.
Fig. 2 shows another embodiment of a gasket insert, in which the closure element of the retaining strip is split, so that it consists of two parts 10 and 11.
The central bead is also split, so as to present side walls 12 and 13, which are in turn laterally provided with anchoring and retaining wings 14 and 15.
The split central bead has at its end opposite the closure element, a terminal element 16 forming a hose.
Here too, the cement mass 17 is introduced under pressure between the rigid construction elements 18 and 19.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Fig. 3 shows the respective positions of the construction elements, the joint, the cement and the retaining band, after the two construction elements 18 and 19 have moved away from each other. The gap 20 of the central bead 12, 13 has widened, while the cement 17 has retreated slightly at the end opposite to the sealing member.
A force acting on the closure element 10, 11 and constituted for example by water pressures, fails to break the seal formed between the construction elements 18 and 19, given that the anchoring wings and 14, 15, as well as the closure element 10, 11, prevent an expulsion of the retaining strip and therefore of the cement 17.
Fig. 4 shows the shape of the seal and of the retaining strip, as it appears after collapse of a construction element 18. Thanks to the end 16 in the form of a hose of the central bead 12, 13, we also obtain here a tight seal.
Fig. 5 shows another embodiment of the retaining band. Here, the retaining strip has a tearable membrane 26 which serves to maintain the original shape of the strip until after placement and to prevent the ingress of foreign objects into the gap during assembly.
In order to give the jointing strip increased flexibility with regard to the movements of the structural elements, while maintaining approximately the same width of the gap, it is possible to provide in either wall of the split central bead of the longitudinal cavities, as shown for example in FIG. 6. One of the walls 20 has three longitudinal cavities 21, 22, 23, separated from each other by ribs 24 and 25.
Where even greater stresses in the shear direction of the retaining band are to be expected,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
which is especially likely to occur in the case of large construction elements, use will be made of a retaining band according to FIG. 7. We see here a central bead with two walls provided with longitudinal cavities, the distant ends of the closing element of these two walls being - formed so as to constitute together a single anchoring element 30. The latter. element is hollow.
It comprises a cavity 31, in which is advantageously disposed a reinforcing member 32. This member 32 serves, on the one hand, to reinforce the anchoring element 30; on the other hand, during the forced introduction of the strip into the joint, it is possible to cause the introduction device to penetrate through the gap 33, so that it bears on the reinforcing member 32, which makes it possible to ensure perfect transmission of the force to the belt.
When siccant cements or other siccative materials are used, the retaining wings are replaced by boss ribs 34.
As shown in figure 8, the side walls 35 and 36 have a toothed profile, so that it is possible to press, into the central gap 37, a spacer 38 formed according to FIG. 9 and serving to tighten the retaining band, the arrangement being such that the barbs of the corner 38 are blocked behind those of the walls 35, 36 of the central bead.
Fig. 10 shows another construction of the reinforcing member. Here, the anchoring and retaining element 40 of the central bead 41 has at its end a projection 42 forming a rib and on which is disposed a reinforcing member 43, preferably metallic.
Fig. 11 shows a gasket including a retaining strip formed by sheets. This garnish
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
comprises a closure element 50 in two parts, as well as a central bead 52 provided with a central interstice 51.
On either side of the central bead 52 are provided anchoring and retaining wings 53 and 54. The base of the strip is formed by an elastic hollow body 55.
Fig. 12 shows the sealing element of a retaining strip, which comprises two sealing blades 62 and 63, preferably made of a ceramic mass and partly covered by sheet metal strips 60 and 61. These blades of closure 62 and 63 are made of heat-resistant material and are joined to the other elastic retaining band members made of sheet metal, so that when the relative positions of the building elements change, the retaining elements closure nevertheless block the slot 64, moving away from one another.
Fig. 13 shows another embodiment of a retaining band, which comprises anchoring wings or retaining tabs oriented parallel to the closure element.
In order to prevent the ingress of dust, etc., into the central slot of the strip, the split central bead (with a labyrinth baffle according to Fig. 14, where one of the sealing elements has a recess 70, while the complementary sealing element is provided with a partition or tongue 71, agas fits in this recess This labyrinth system can also be provided in the central bead.
In order to prevent the cement, or the like, from being removed as a result of significant movements of the building elements and so that, in the case of building elements attacked on both sides of the joints, for example, a side by a stream and, on the other side by infiltration water and groundwater, it is indicated to use a retaining strip according to Fig. 15.
This consists of two retaining bands
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
72,73, established for example according to FIG. 1 and arranged symmetrically, and coaxially, these bands being provided with an anchoring flange 74 disposed in the plane of symmetry and consisting of a hollow body with thin walls The anchoring flange 74 further increases the deformability of the retaining band for cement and prevents the untimely shrinkage of the cement into the interior of the joint as the joint expands.
The retaining bands described above can be made of synthetic material, metal, wood or can be mixed constructions of concrete and sheet metal, or ceramic and sheet metal. The strip can be made in one or more parts, the reinforcing elements, for example, can be made of metal.
It is advantageous to coat the retaining band with cement and to press this band under pressure, together with the cement, into the joint. Thus, the assembly prepared in advance can be set up on the site using simple means.
