<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to an obturating device for flexible tubes and similar containers intended to contain a pasty product, characterized in that it comprises a tip intended to be screwed onto the nose of the tube, which has a duct opening onto its tube. side face, and a sleeve slidably mounted on this end piece, elastic means arranged between said end piece and said sleeve
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
tending to maintain the latter in a position remote from the tube for which a part of the sleeve covers the orifice of said duct, the sleeve having an opening @ capable of being brought opposite said orifice following pressure exerted on it. the sleeve to move it in the direction of the tube against the action of said elastic means,
to allow the product to flow.
The drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention,
Figures 1 and 2 are axial sections of the device, respectively in the closed and open position) 'and
Figure 3 is a view along arrow A in Figure 1.
The device shown comprises an end piece 1 provided with a threaded connector 2 by means of which it is screwed onto the threaded nose of a flexible tube 3, in place of the cap of conventional shape of the latter, This end piece is pierced with an elbow duct 4 which opens onto its cylindrical side face.
On the end piece 1 is slidably mounted a sleeve consisting of a cap 5 which a helical spring 6 disposed axially between the end piece and the cap tends to maintain in a position remote from the tube for which the wall 7 of the cap covers. the orifice of the duct 4 (closed position of the device shown in FIG. 1). A screw 8, integral with the cap, cooperating with a groove 9 made in the end piece 1, limits the movement to the right of the cap and prevents any rotation of the latter relative to the end piece.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The cap 5 further precooks an opening 11 capable of being led opposite the orifice of the conduit 4 as a result of an axial pressure exerted on the cap @ with sufficient force to move it towards the tube against the action of the spring 6. In this open position of the device shown in FIG. 2, the product can flow through the duct 4. If the pressure on the cap is released, the device automatically returns to its position. closed under the action of the spring 6, and the strand of pasty product is cut by the cap flush with the orifice of the duct 4 and generally falls freely.
The pressure exerted on the cap 5 during the opening of the device also contributes to the axial crushing of the tube and thus facilitates the exit of the pasty material.
It should be noted that the cap 5 which will preferably be made, as well as the end piece 1, of plastic material, has a concave end face 12 intended to facilitate the exer. With the help of the thumb, the pressure necessary to open the device, a skirt 13 of the cap 5, arranged so as to surround the front end of the tube, prevents the introduction of foreign bodies between the tube. cap and improves the general appearance of the tube provided with the device.
When the end piece 1 and the cap 5 are made of plastic material, at least one of these parts will preferably be made from a plastic material which remains a little flexible, such as poyetylene for example, in order to obtain a perfect seal. of the device. The other part could be made of polystyrene for example.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
It will also be noted that the opening .Il Ju cap is found on a face 14 of the latter radially set back from the skirt 13, so that this face cannot easily come into contact with the bearing surface on which is the tube.
The device shown, of simple construction, does not include any movable part évetpible to be lost and automatically closes the tube after use.
In the variants, it could of course be formed for mounting on containers other than flexible tubes of conventional shape.
CLAIMS 1) Closing device for flexible tubes and similar containers intended to contain a pasty product, characterized in that it comprises a tip intended to be screwed onto the nose of the tube, which has a duct opening onto its lateral face , and a sheath slidably mounted on this end piece, elastic means arranged between said end piece and said sheath tending to keep the latter in a position remote from the tube for which part of the sheath covers the orifice of said duct,
the sheath having an opening capable of being brought opposite said orifice following pressure exerted on the sheath to move it in the direction of the tube against the action of said elastic means, to allow the product to flow.
