La présente invention est relative à un signal pro- visoire de circulation routière, constitué par une plaque portant les signes conventionnels et les inscriptions appropriées.
Comme on le sait, de très nombreux accidents de circulation sont provoqués parce que les obstacles provisoires ne sont pas signalés d'une façon convenable ou.,même, ne sont pas si- gnalés du tout. Comme exemples, on pourrait, notamment, citer les divers travaux routiers et les véhicules garés le long du bord de la route soit par suite d'une panne, soit pour y passer la nuit.
Une des raisons de ce manque de signalisation rési- de certainement dans le fait que le placement d'un signal provisoi re présente toujours une certaine difficulté par suite de l'absen- ce d'un signal portatif, facile à transporter et pouvant être ins-

tantanément mis en place.
Le but de la présente invention est de remédier à cet inconvénient. A cet effet, selon l'invention, le signal provi- soire est monté sur un support comprenant au moins un pied mobile qui, en cas de nécessité, peut être ramené contre la plaque, de manière telle que la plaque, le support et le pied ferment un pa- quet portatif dont l'encombrement est sensiblement égal à celui de la plaque.
Le placement et le transport d'un signal agencé de cette manière ne présentent évidemment plus aucune difficulté.
On peut donc prévoir que non seulement les entre- preneurs de travaux routiers, mais même les automobilistes parti- culiers en auront toujours un à leur disposition.
Selon une forme particulière de réalisation de l'ob- jet de l'invention, le support est une tôle plate, sensiblement de mêmes dimensions que la plaque du signal et dont le bord inférieur présente au moins une pointe dépassant le bord de la plaque et pre- nant appui sur le sol lorsque l'appareil est en service.
D'autre part,chaque pied a la forme d'une languet- te dont une extrémité est fixée par une charnière au bord inférieur du support.
Selon une forme préférée de réalisation de l'objet de l'invention, le signal comporte un plateau au moins aussi grand que la plaque portant les signes conventionnels,et dont le bord arrière est réuni avec l'extrémité libre de chaque pied par une articulation, par exemple par une charnière,agencée de manière telle que le signal se présente sous la forme d'un dépliant, de sorte que, lorsque le pied est ramené contre le support, le pla- teau peut être amené contre la face avant de la plaque portant les signes conventionnels et la protège contre toute détérioration.
Dans une forme de réalisation avantageuse, le bord frontal du plateau, opposé à celui réuni au pied, comporte au

moins un moyen permettant de le fixer à la face arrière du sup- port portant la plaque et, de cette manière, d'immobilser cette dernière dans la position sensiblement verticale, le plateau lui- même se trouvant dans une position inclinée.
Selon une autre forme préférée de réalisation de l'objet de l'invention, chaque pied est réuni à la face arrière du support par une genouillère de longueur telle que lorsqu'elle est dépliée,la plaque portant les signes conventionnels est sensi- blement verticale.
D'autres détails et particularités de l'invention ressortiront de la description des dessins annexés au présent mé- moire et qui représentent, à titre d'exemples non limitatifs, une forme particulière de réalisation de l'objet de l'invention.
La figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'un signal provisoire conforme à l'invention, comportant un plateau permet- tant, lorsque l'appareil est en service, d'immobiliser dans¯la po- sition verticale, la plaque portant les signaux conventionnels.
La figure 2 est une vue en perspective du même si- gnal provisoire mais replié et prêt pour le transport.
La figure 3 est une vue en perspective d'une va- riante de réalisation du signal provisoire conforme à l'invention, le support et le pied étant réunis par une genouillère.
La figure 4 est une vue en perspective du signal, représenté à la figure 3, le pied étant ramené vers la plaque, cet- te dernière n'étant toutefois pas représentée.
Dans les différentes figures, les mêmes notations de référence désignent des éléments analogues.
Le signal provisoire de circulation routière repré- senté aux dessins comporte, comme tous les autres signaux de ce genre, une plaque 1 portant un signe conventionnel 2 et, éventuel- lement, une inscription appropriée 3.

Le signal peut être du type déjà adopté par le co- de de la route ou bien d'un type nouveau signalant qu'il s'agit d'un obstacle provisoire. C'est ainsi qu'il peut consister en un disque rouge 4 entouré d'un bord blanc 5. Une inscription 6, telle que " STOP pourrait être inscrite sur le disque rouge 4; une flèche 7 indiquant la direction à suivre pourrait également être disposée dans le disque rouge 4.
Les couleurs employées sont, de préférence, fluo- rescentes, les signaux réalisés à l'aide de ces couleurs étant vi- sibles la nuit à 400 mètres.
Dans le cas particulier d'exécution représenté aux dessins, la plaque 1 du signal est montée sur un support 8 compre- nant deux pieds 9 réunis entre eux par une traverse 10. Le support 8 est une tôle plate 11 ayant sensiblement les mêmes dimensions que la plaque 1 du signal. Le bord inférieur 12 du support 8 pré- sente deux pointes 13 qui, lorsque l'appareil est en service, pren- nent appui sur le sol.
Le support 8 présente au centre une ouverture 14 permettant, si la plaque 1 est translucide, de l'éclairer par l'arrière en disposant derrière le support 8 une source lumineuse 15..
Dans la forme préférée d'exécution représentée aux dessins, chaque pied 9 est une languette dont une extrémité 16 est fixée par une charnière 17 au bord inférieur 12 du support b.
Dans le cas particulier d'exécution représenté aux figures 1 et 2, le signal provisoire comporte un plateau 18 qui est au moins aussi grand que la plaque 1 portant les signes con- ventionnels 4,5, 6 ou 7.
Le bord arrière 19 du plateau 18 est réuni avec l'extrémité libre de chaque pied 9 par une charnière 20 agencée de manière telle que le signal provisoire se présente sous la for- me d'un dépliant. Il en résulte que,lorsque les pieds 9 sont ra-

menés contre le support 8, le plateau 18 peut être amené contre la face avant de la plaque portant les signes conventionnels afin de protégér celle-ci contre toute détérioration pouvant survenir pendant le transport ou la manipulation.
Le bord frontal 21 du plateau 18 est pourvu de deux crochets 22 qui peuvent être introduits dans des fentes ménagées dans les languettes 23 fixées sur la face arrière du support 8.
De cette façon, lorsque le plateau 18 est accroché, la plaque 1 portant les signes conventionnels se trouve dans une position sensiblement verticale et réfléchit la lumière venant des phares de véhicules circulant sur la route.
Dans le cas particulier d'exécution représenté aux figures 3 et 4, chaque pied.est réuni à la face arrière du support 8 par une genouillère 24 de longueur telle que,lorsqu'elle est dépliée, la plaque 1 portant les signes conventionnels est sen- siblement verticale.L'extrémité de chaque pied 9 est pourvue éga- lement d'une pointe 25 prenant appui sur le sol lorsque l'appareil est en service.
Grâce à la traverse 10, les deux pieds 9 peuvent facilement être ramenés contre le support 8 et former avec ce der- nier et la plaque 1 du signal, un paquet portatif dont l'encombre- ment est sensiblement égal à celui de la plaque 1:.Il,est à noter que la plaque 1 est amovible et est fixée au support par.des bou- lons 26. Elle peut, par conséquent, très facilement être remplacée par une autre appropriée à l'emploi envisagé.
Il doit être entendu que l'invention n'est nulle- m l.imitée aux formes de réalisation décrites et que bien des monifications peuvent être apportées à ces dernières sans sortir du cadre du présent brevet. C'est ainsi que le bord arrière 19 du plateau 18 peut être pourvu d'une ou de deux pointes 25 remplaçant celles disposées à l'extrémité des pieds 9.

The aim of the present invention is to remedy this drawback. To this end, according to the invention, the provisional signal is mounted on a support comprising at least one movable foot which, if necessary, can be brought back against the plate, such that the plate, the support and the foot close a portable package, the size of which is substantially equal to that of the plate.
The placement and transport of a signal arranged in this way obviously no longer presents any difficulty.
It can therefore be foreseen that not only road works contractors, but even private motorists will always have one at their disposal.
According to a particular embodiment of the object of the invention, the support is a flat sheet, substantially of the same dimensions as the signal plate and of which the lower edge has at least one point projecting beyond the edge of the plate and resting on the ground when the appliance is in use.
On the other hand, each foot has the form of a tongue, one end of which is fixed by a hinge to the lower edge of the support.
According to a preferred embodiment of the object of the invention, the signal comprises a plate at least as large as the plate bearing the conventional signs, and the rear edge of which is joined with the free end of each foot by a joint. , for example by a hinge, arranged in such a way that the sign is in the form of a leaflet, so that, when the foot is brought back against the support, the plate can be brought against the front face of the plate bearing the conventional signs and protects it against any deterioration.

The provisional road traffic signal shown in the drawings comprises, like all other signals of this kind, a plate 1 bearing a conventional symbol 2 and, possibly, an appropriate inscription 3.

The signal may be of the type already adopted by the roadside or of a new type indicating that it is a temporary obstacle. Thus it can consist of a red disc 4 surrounded by a white border 5. An inscription 6, such as "STOP could be written on the red disc 4; an arrow 7 indicating the direction to follow could also be arranged in the red disc 4.
The colors used are preferably fluorescent, the signals produced using these colors being visible at night at 400 meters.
In the particular embodiment shown in the drawings, the signal plate 1 is mounted on a support 8 comprising two feet 9 joined together by a cross member 10. The support 8 is a flat sheet 11 having substantially the same dimensions as signal plate 1. The lower edge 12 of the support 8 has two spikes 13 which, when the device is in use, bear on the ground.
The support 8 has in the center an opening 14 allowing, if the plate 1 is translucent, to illuminate it from the rear by placing behind the support 8 a light source 15 ..
In the preferred embodiment shown in the drawings, each foot 9 is a tongue, one end 16 of which is fixed by a hinge 17 to the lower edge 12 of the support b.
In the particular embodiment shown in Figures 1 and 2, the provisional signal comprises a plate 18 which is at least as large as the plate 1 bearing the conventional signs 4, 5, 6 or 7.
The rear edge 19 of the plate 18 is joined with the free end of each leg 9 by a hinge 20 arranged in such a way that the provisional sign is in the form of a leaflet. As a result, when the feet 9 are ra-

led against the support 8, the plate 18 can be brought against the front face of the plate bearing the conventional signs in order to protect the latter against any deterioration which may occur during transport or handling.
The front edge 21 of the plate 18 is provided with two hooks 22 which can be inserted into slots formed in the tabs 23 fixed to the rear face of the support 8.
In this way, when the plate 18 is hooked, the plate 1 bearing the conventional signs is in a substantially vertical position and reflects the light coming from the headlights of vehicles traveling on the road.
In the particular embodiment shown in Figures 3 and 4, each foot is joined to the rear face of the support 8 by a toggle 24 of length such that, when unfolded, the plate 1 bearing the conventional signs is sen - sibly vertical. The end of each foot 9 is also provided with a point 25 bearing on the ground when the apparatus is in use.
Thanks to the cross member 10, the two feet 9 can easily be brought back against the support 8 and form with the latter and the signal plate 1, a portable package whose size is substantially equal to that of the plate 1. It should be noted that the plate 1 is removable and is fixed to the support by bolts 26. It can therefore very easily be replaced by another suitable for the intended use.
It should be understood that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and that many monifications can be made to the latter without departing from the scope of the present patent. Thus, the rear edge 19 of the plate 18 can be provided with one or two spikes 25 replacing those placed at the end of the feet 9.
