<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The object of the present invention is a textile insert for conveyor belts, transmission belts, tires and the like, which are distinguished by particularly uniform properties, and thus give the belt, belt or tire, etc., a durability. ; higher life.
Textile inserts ordinarily consisting of multiple highly twisted yarns which are worked into a skein of parallel yarns, or into a fabric. Multiple yarns are made of natural or synthetic yarns or fibers
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
which are twisted in several phases of work. Because of the high twist, the individual threads exhibit a very different elongation, and this circumstance greatly limits their resistance to tensile forces, and more particularly to a long-term tensile force.
The present invention is based on the principle that it is advantageous in order to increase the possibilities of the tensile stresses, to achieve as uniform an elongation as possible of the various individual yarns of these layers. For the tire fabric it is of the greatest importance that in addition to said properties, the adhesion is sufficiently high so that the fabric with the rubber or synthetic mass which surrounds it forms a sufficiently strong connection.
It has now been found that a textile insert which consists of endless individual threads, natural or synthetic, which are assembled without twisting into a cord, and which are held together by means of threads of the same or another kind. so, takes into account all these conditions.
As individual endless yarns, it is possible to use yarns which are spun from natural fibers, such as cotton, hemp, jute etc., as well as more particularly synthetic yarns, such as regenerated cellulose yarns, yarns of polyamide and polyesters, as well as yarns of other synthetic polymers.
The yarn material which surrounds the individual yarns, may also optionally consist of these and raw materials, where however each yarn of the bead / coating material does not have to be the same, and therefore the yarns may still have other favorable textile properties, The coating of the cord
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
formed of individual endless yarns may be made by giving the same or other type of yarn material a sinuous S or / Z shape, or the shape of a network or fabric around the cord . Optionally, the cord of threads can also be retained by means of a net with a larger or smaller mesh.
Alternatively, two or more of these yarn fabrics can be assembled and coated together in the same manner. The coating of the cord can be done under a temporary tension of this one. In some cases it may be advantageous to give the bead constituting endless individual threads a final rotation of eg 50 rpm to improve its hold. For the manufacture of canvas inserts for tires, transmission belts, conveyor belts etc., these thread formations are advantageously used by working them in the form of a fabric, and in particular in such a way that they are used to form the warp, while thinner threads will form the weft. It is important that the textile inserts according to the invention are incorporated in the direction of the tensile tension.
Comparative tests have shown that the resistance of the textile inserts according to the invention is 25% higher than that of a highly twisted multiple yarn of the same thickness. sister, formed of the same sons.
The elongation values are also within much more favorable limits for insert applications. This is clear from the following table:

In the table, the samples mean: No. 1. Cord of artificial silk threads of 2 x 1650 den., Which has been wrapped with an artificial silk thread of 120 den .. in the form of a Z .
No. 2. Cord of artificial silk threads 2 x 1650 den. surrounded by an S-shaped artificial silk thread in an S-shape.
No. 3. Cord of artificial silk thread of 2 x lo50, surrounded by an artificial silk thread of 120 den. Z and S shaped.
No. 4. Canvas yarn formed from two artificial silk threads of 1050 den. which have a rotation of 472 5 / m in a Z and S direction.
In addition to the strength and elongation values, the adhesion capacity of the inserts according to the present invention and of a conventional canvas were compared, which made it possible to observe that the adhesion strength of sample 3 is 9% higher / higher than that of sample 4.
There are already known formations of threads consisting of a core of threads or of yarn as well as of a thread of another kind wound in a spiral around this core and which are subjected before their subsequent treatment to a specific handling, for example. to a shrinking process, to a stiffening process or the like. However, these wire formations serve
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
exclusively for decorative or clothing purposes and more especially where an apparent effect of threads or a design after fashion is to be obtained. Because of this special character, such yarn formations are only suitable for other outs when the fashion or / aesthetic point of view plays a role.
One could not expect. that such yarn materials can be applied in the technical field where all other properties of the yarns are contemplated.
