Sur l'arbre central 5, qui constitue l'arbre de commande des divers organes de la maohine, sont' fixées les deux cames de commande 8 et 15, dont la première commande le mouvement longitudinal de deux guides latéraux verticaux 9, voir notamment figures 3 et 4-, ces guides étant réunis entre eux par deux leviers pendulaires verti- caux 10 montés sur l'arbre postérieur 7, ainsi que par un levier horizontal 11 actionné par le prolongement 12 d'un levier oscillant 13 monté sur l'arbre postérieur 6 et ooo- pérant, par l'entremise d'un galet de contact 14, avec la came 8, figure 4;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Figure 7 is a sectional view, taken along arrows D-D of Figure 3, of the cam brake.
Figure 8 is a sectional view, along the arrows E-E of Figure 3, of the servo motor assembly.
As shown in these drawings, the machine in question comprises a frame 1 which carries two roller belts, an anterior 2 and a posterior 3, on which are supported, respectively, the clay rod coming out of it. the extruder and the bricks cut from this sausage. At the upper part of the frame are provided two lateral uprights 4 between which three shafts are mounted, namely: the central control shaft 5, the front shaft 6 and the rear shaft 7.
On the central shaft 5, which constitutes the control shaft of the various parts of the machine, are fixed the two control cams 8 and 15, the first of which controls the longitudinal movement of two vertical lateral guides 9, see in particular figures 3 and 4-, these guides being joined together by two vertical pendulum levers 10 mounted on the posterior shaft 7, as well as by a horizontal lever 11 actuated by the extension 12 of an oscillating lever 13 mounted on the shaft. rear 6 and operating, by means of a contact roller 14, with the cam 8, FIG. 4;
on the other hand, the cam 15 controls the vertical movement of the guillotine support 16 provided with the. horizontal cutting wire 17, this support sliding vertically in the lateral vertical guides by means of rollers 18, the support 16 being actuated by an oscillating lever 19, one end of which is mounted on the front shaft 6 and which is provided with the roller contact 20 cooperating with the cam 15.
On the central shaft 5 are also mounted, on the one hand, the brake according to FIG. 6, consisting of a drum 21 inside which is a segment 22 provided with a lining.

brake 23 which are caused to act on this drum by means of a lever 24 rotatably mounted on the front shaft 6 and biased by a tension spring 25 and, on the other hand, a brake comprising a cam 26 on which A roller 27 is carried by a lever 28 which is also rotatably mounted on the front shaft 6 and urged by a spring 29, so as to keep the roller 27 in contact with the cam 26. At the lateral end of the The shaft 5 of the machine is mounted on the servomotor consisting of a drum, 30 mounted idle on the shaft 5 and over which the belts from an electric motor 31 pass.
Inside this drum, Figure 8, are freely mounted shoes or segments 32 provided with brake linings. At the end of one of these shoes 32 is provided a lever 33, pivotally mounted on this shoe and connected to another shoe by means of the spring 34. The lever 33 is in turn subjected to the action. tion of a lever 35 integral with a pinion 37 mounted idle on the shaft 5, while another lever 36, provided with a spout and fixed on the shaft 5, is joined to one of the shoes 32. The Pinion 37 mentioned above is actuated by a chain 38 controlled from the drive pulley 39 wedged on the shaft of the front roller belt 2, FIG. 1.
In order that the length of the bricks to be cut can be adapted to the needs, the transmission of the movement between the front roller belt 2 and the main shaft 5 can comprise a variable speed group of the type comprising a V-belt acting on it. at least one pulley with axially movable plates, this pulley being controlled by a small flywheel mounted on the shaft 5 and intended to produce the axial displacement of one of the two plates, so that the belt is caused to act on a larger diameter large or smaller, which has the effect of determining variations in speed of the central shaft 5.
At the end of the central shaft 5 opposite the servo

motor described above is fixed a pinion 40 which controls a toothed wheel 41 on which is eccentrically hinged a rod 42 provided with a toothed rack 43 and acting on a pinion 44 provided with a detent pawl and mounted on the drive shaft of the rear roller belt 3. In the machine as described so far, the clay rod coming out of the extruder @ slides on the front roller belt 2, thus determining the rotation of the machine. drive toothed wheel 39 wedged on the main shaft of this belt.
Thanks to the chain transmission 38, the pinion 37 mounted on the shaft 5 performs a slight angular displacement to which corresponds a displacement of the lever 35, integral with this pinion, as well as a displacement of the lever 33 of the servo. engine. The lever 35, by acting on the lever 33 articulated to one of the shoes 32, causes the displacement or the expansion of the shoes which, thanks to the brake linings, are given by the drum 30 a rotational movement of an equal speed. to that of the clay sausage. Given the connection established by the lever 36 between one of the shoes and the shaft 5, the latter rotates at the same speed as the shoes 32, keeping itself in synchronism with the advance of the clay rod.
As a result of the rotation of the shaft 5 and, consequently, of all the cams which it carries, the clay rod brought opposite the guillotine support 16 is cut vertically by the horizontal cutting wire 17 , thanks to the action of the cam 15 on the oscillating lever 19, by separating from this rod a portion of clay corresponding to a brick. However, in the meantime. the support 16 has moved in the longitudinal direction, simultaneously with its lateral vertical guides 9, thanks to the action of the cam 8 acting on the lever 13 which controls the hanging movement of the vertical levers 10.
It is for this reason, essentially, that the longitudinal displacement of the sup-

Harbor. 16 with the horizontal cutting wire- 17 and that of the associated system of vertical guides 9 'take place simultaneously with the Vertical displacement of the, only support 16 with' the wire 17 on the guides 9, of location which determines the sectioning of the clay coil During the upward return stroke of the support 16 and of the cutting wire 17, the central shaft 5 and therefore all the mobile equipment, are braked using the 'systems shown in the figures? 6 and 7.
After cutting the strand, the bricks obtained, three in number for example, pass from the front roller belt 2 to the rear roller belt 3, in order to allow the operator to evacuate the group of bricks obtained. and loading them onto the conveyor carriage, the rod 42. actuated by the toothed wheel 41, intervenes and, by transforming the rotary movement into a reciprocating 'rectilinear movement, acts on the ratchet pinion 44 so as to make it rotate freely in one of its two directions of rotation.
When the pinion 44 turns freely, the posterior roller belt 3 moves at the same speed as the clay slick, while, as the pinion 44 rotates in engagement with the pawl, which rests thereon, the shaft main of the rear roller belt 3 rotates at a higher speed, to which corresponds an additional rapid movement of this belt, so that the latter moves the cut bricks in question, so as to move them away from the web or the strand being cutting.
The machine described above - which is liable to undergo numerous modifications as regards. concerns-its construction features, taking into account the needs - is further characterized by the fact that the central shaft 5, and therefore all the systems mounted on the latter, do not perform any rotation except when the clay rod comes to act on the front roller belt 2, determining the control action of the servo motor system group described above.
