<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to a burner head, in particular for gaseous fuel, characterized in that its surface is provided with reliefs and / or hollows distributed with the outlet openings of the flames. Thanks to this arrangement, the radiated flux is better diffused in all directions while the surface of the head has an increased gloss. In addition, the speed of the combustible mixture which ignites in line with the orifices emerging from the hollows is greater than in the other zones. Protection against drafts is better there. This makes it easier to turn on the appliance, while the risk of untimely extinction is practically eliminated.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will also emerge from the description which follows.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
of embodiments chosen by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a view of a burner head in section along the line I-I of FIG. 2; FIG. 2 is a view of this head along arrows II-II of FIG. 1; Figures 3, 4, 5 are similar to part of Figure 1 but relate to various variants. FIG. 6 is a view similar to FIG. 2 but relates to yet another variant; ' FIG. 7 is a view, on a larger scale, of part of this other variant, in cross section along the line VII-VII of FIG. 6.
Reference will firstly be made to FIGS. 1 and 2, which shows at 10 a burner head and at II the outer surface of this head, into which open the orifices 12 for supplying fuel and primary oxidizer. The surface 11 can have any suitable orientation depending on the use of the burner. It may be vertical in particular in the case where the head 10 forms a heating panel, or else horizontal or inclined.
The surface 11, which is generally smooth, is provided with projections 13 which are preferably oblong in the manner of ribs.
The projections 13, the height of which may be for example one or more millimeters, are arranged so as to go around the orifices 12 and extend in the vicinity of the latter with a suitable distribution. The projections 13 are advantageously rectilinear and parallel to one another, each bay between two neighboring projections 13 being occupied by a single row of orifices 12. When the surface 11 is vertical, the direction of the projections 13 is preferably chosen vertical. or d iagonal.
With the arrangement according to the invention, easy ignition is obtained as well as a uniform distribution of heat and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
an accentuated shine of the head.
Alternatively (Figure 3), the arrangement is similar to that which has just been described with reference to Figures 1 and 2, except that between two adjacent ribs 13 are provided two or more rows of orifices 12 instead of one. .
In the embodiments of Figures 1 and 2 and Figure 3, the protrusions or ribs 13 are integral with the head 10, but, as shown in Figure 4, they can also be provided. reported and fixed in any suitable manner.
Reference will now be made to FIG. 5 where the head 10 comprises not only ribs such as 13 but also grooves 14 advantageously alternating with the ribs 13 and parallel thereto. It is thus possible, among other advantages, to obtain blue light effects in the hollows 14 and red on the surface in 13 and 11.
Reference will now be made to FIGS. 6 and 7 where the surface 11 of the head 10 is always provided with parallel ribs 13 and with grooves 14. Here the grooves 14 are arranged in two rows of different directions forming a cross: a row of grooves 141 parallel to the ribs 13 and a row of grooves 142 perpendicular to these ribs. Such an arrangement results in effectively opposing the untimely extinction of the head.
In more detail and according to other features of the invention, the orifices 12 preferably have a circular section and have a square distribution. Each orifice advantageously has a diameter of between 0.4 mm and 2 mm, and preferably between 0.8 mm and 1.4 mm and preferably in the region of 1.1 mm.
The sum of the sections of the orifices is between 5% and 40% of the total section of the head and advantageously close to 20% of this section. The smallest distance between two orifices.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
neighbors is between 50% and 150% of the diameter of each orifice and advantageously substantially equal to this diameter.
The diameter of each orifice is between 4% and 18% of the orifice depth and advantageously close to 10% of this depth. Each rib 13 preferably has an advantageously equilateral triangular section and its base is contiguous with two neighboring rows of orifices. Each groove 14 has a depth of between 10% and 50% of the thickness of the head and preferably close to 30% of this thickness. The width of each groove 14 is preferably slightly less than its depth and is advantageously close to 80% thereof.
Each groove 14 involves a small number of rows of orifices and preferably two rows adjacent to its walls. The grooves parallel to the ribs are separated from each other by two to fifteen ribs or orifices and preferably by six ribs and five orifices. The perpendicular grooves are separated from each other by five to forty orifices and preferably by nineteen orifices. The rectangular zones formed by the intersection of the grooves each have sides whose ratio is between one and five and advantageously close to two or three.
With such an arrangement, excellent operation of the burner head is obtained without risk of flashback or extinction.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown but embraces all variants. For example. And without limitation, the head can, instead of plane, be convex either prismatic or arcuate so as to accentuate the effect of the ribs 13 on the diffusion in all directions of the heat flow.
