<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The problem often arises in electrical apparatus of transmitting the rotary movement of an adjustment knob to a constructive element, for example a potentiometer, under vacuum or under similar conditions; the adjustment movement must therefore be transmitted through the thick wall of the vacuum housing, for example of the potentiometer.
Assemblies to solve this problem are
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
already known. They work, in part, electrically or magnetically, but such assemblies however require a significant expenditure in material. Therefore, preference has frequently been given to a mechanical transmission of the rotary movement to the potentiometer. In this case, however, maintaining the tightness of the wall presents great difficulties, in particular when large pivot angles must be transmitted or the drive must be able to rotate as many times as desired around it. its axis.
The invention proposes a transmission of a rotary movement of an adjustment axis through a thick wall, which allows, while maintaining the seal, to transmit a wide pivot angle. To solve this problem, it is proposed according to the invention to provide the shaft passing through the wall on at least one face thereof, with a projection lying outside the axis of the marble and around which is supported at the tightly closed end of a flexible casing which closely surrounds the shaft with its projection and the other end of which is rigidly and tightly connected to the wall. and
Other details / features of the invention will emerge from the description below, given without limitation and with reference to the accompanying drawing.
In a wall 2, having an opening 2 ') is placed a sleeve 8, which is for example welded in a sealed manner by its wing 8'. In this sleeve 8 is rotatably supported the shaft whose movement is to be transmitted from the face shown.
2 to the lower part of Figure 1 of the wall / to the face shown in the upper part of this figure, while maintaining the seal at the crossing points. To this end, the shaft 1 is bent, and moved away from its axis at 9, so that it has a part 10 disposed eccentrically.
On this end
11,., This mimed part 10 of the shaft 1 is rotatably supported a tubular part,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
11 is rigidly connected to the end 19 of the tube 18 and closes the latter, which is constituted in particular, by a metal accordion, at this end 19; tightly. The part 11 further comprises a protrusion 21, for example a rod of circular section, which engages in '- an elongated slot 311 of an extension 31 of a lever 3 (see FIG. 1a). The other end 20 of the metal accordion tube 18 is rigidly and tightly connected to the wall 2.
This rigid and tight connection can be achieved either by tightly welding end 20 of tube 18 directly on all sides directly to wall 2, or for example by welding tightly. this end 20 on the flange 8 'of the sleeve 8, while, simultaneously, the flange 8' is also welded on all sides and in a sealed manner on the wall 2. During a rotation of the shaft 1, the end 10 is therefore first caused to pivot circularly about the axis of the shaft 1. During this pivoting, the tube 18 also pivots correspondingly, but nevertheless opposes a torsion and therefore its end 19 rotates around the projection -10 of the shaft 1.
The part 11, which is rigidly connected to the end 19 of the tube, therefore rotates around the axis of the projection 10 and simultaneously pivots around the axis of the shaft 1. This pivoting. the part 11 around the axis 1 'of the shaft 1 is transmitted to the part 3, while the rotary movement of the part 11 around the axis of the projection 10 is not transmitted to the part '3,' 31, because the projection 21, connected to the part 11) is connected to the part 31 in such a way that the part 21 can rotate relative to this part 31 around the axis of the lqéaillie 10 (see figure la).
The pivoting movement of @ the part 11 is however transmitted by means of the part 21 and the extension 31-. to the lever 3, which is riveted to the axis 7 at 7 'so as to be secured against a pivoting and which therefore transmits the rotary movement of the shaft 1 to the axis 7, supported in the
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
socket 4, of the potentiometer.
The present invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown in the accompanying drawing, in which the axis of the projection 10 is offset by 90 with respect to the axis 1 'of the shaft 1.
On the contrary, it is simply a matter of the projection 10 being eccentric with respect to the axis 1 'of the shaft 1 and that, when this shaft 1 is pivoted, the circular movement resulting therefrom The end of the part 10 around the axis 1 'is transformed into a desired movement, for example into a rotary movement of the shaft 7 around the same axis 1', or vice versa. The movement of the end of the part 10 can also be transformed into another movement, for example linear.
It is however essential for the present invention that the end 10 made to pivot by the shaft 1 is eccentric with respect to the axis 1 and is provided with a casing 18, which can rotate, at one end, around of the axis of the part 10, is closed there in a sealed manner, for example by means of a part 11 and is connected at its other end 201, directly or indirectly, in a rigid and sealed manner, to the wall 2 Furthermore, the part 11 must be connected in any suitable way to the part to be driven or driving (for example the shaft 7). The direction of transmission is then arbitrary. Thus, the shaft 7 can be used for the drive, while the shaft 1 is driven or, conversely, the shaft 1 can be used for the drive while the shaft 7 is driven.
