L'étoffe représentée à la figure comporte, comme il est connu, un tissu d'endroit 1, un tissu d'envers 3 et une couche intermédiaire 2. Ces trois éléments sont maintenus ensemble par des adhésifs adéquats, par exemple à base de latex ou de résine.
La particularité de l'étoffe selon l'invention consiste en ce que la couche intermédiaire est constituée de résine à base de poly- uréthane, généralement connue dans le commerce sous la dénomination moltoprène. Cette couche intermédiaire peut être appliquée, soit sous forme de mousse, soit sous forme de plaque. L'étoffe ainsi réalisée présente une élasticité légèrement plastique; cette étoffe présente donc ie raideur suffisante à son bon maintien, sans qu'une rigidité excessive en résulte.
Un autre grand avantage de l'étoffe selon l'invention réside dans le fait qu'elle est perméable à l'air, ce qui n'était pas du tout le cas lorsque la couche intermédiaire était à base de latex.
L'invention n'est d'ailleurs nullement limitée à la forme d'exécution décrite ci-avant et bien des modifications peuvent y être apportées notamment quant au nombre et à la disposition des éléments intervenant dans sa réalisation, sans sortir du cadre de la présente demande de brevet.
