<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The process according to the invention consists in reacting a polyethylene glycol with a fatty substance (triglycerides) in the molecular proportions defined by reaction equation II, in the presence of esterification catalysts such as: lime, soda, acid phosphoric, in the proportion of 0.05 to 0.2% of the weight of the fat.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The transesterification is carried out with stirring at 205/225 C at atmospheric pressure, under an inert atmosphere in a stainless steel reactor to prevent the formation of colored metallic soaps; the operation lasts about two hours.
A final mixture is obtained, composed of triglycerides which have not reacted, of mono and di-glycerides, of mono and diesters of polyethylene glycol, the carbon chain R of which is not modified during the operations by cleavage, or alteration, migration of double bonds.
This mixture has the following remarkable properties:
1- They are miscible in all proportions, both with hydrocarbons, in particular kerosene, petrolatum oil, paraffin oil, and with natural triglycerides, in particular vegetable oils, giving clear solutions .
These products can also, in the pure state or in solution, give with water fine emulsions due to the "oil in water" type, opaque and non-translucent, relatively stable over time, while with most surfactants. Known active ingredients which are soluble in kerosene, only very coarse or translucent oil-in-water emulsions can be obtained.
2- The mixture is practically neutral; the acid number does not exceed 2 and a 10% dispersion of the mixture in water has a pH between 6.7 and 7.3.
3- The mixture has an antioxidant power, applicable for example to the conservation of mono or polyethylenic triglycerides, by preventing the formation of peroxides.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
4- The mixture exhibits no character of toxicity nor of irritant to the mucous membranes, nor of hemolytic arachide.

The contact of this oily preparation with the mucous membrane and the moist serosities takes place perfectly thanks to the hydrophilic properties of the kernel oil obtained according to the present invention. The oil spherules, which

are thus formed, do not prevent the movements of the cilia of the mucous membrane, while the simple oily solutions completely inhibit them,

This oily solution of vitamins has two important advantages over similar preparations: the first lies in the fact that this oil is easily dispersed in beverages, foods, etc., while common oily preparations remain attached to the walls of the container. ; the second relates to the stabilization of vitamin A by the kernel oil treated according to the present invention, which is an anti-oxygen.
Example IV:
The starting fat is virgin olive oil.
The mixture obtained according to the process according to the invention has the following characteristics:

The mixture thus obtained emulsifies perfectly in cold water, which makes its absorption by the patient much easier. On the other hand, the presence of olive oil treated according to the present invention promotes the preservation of virgin olive oil, and can also be an element favorable to the solvation of a medicinal body introduced into the preparation. .

The fluid, nonionic emulsion obtained is stable over time; it can be used as a nonionic cleansing milk, or as a support for a milk with vegetable oils (almond, avocado).
2- In pharmacy, this palm oil treated according to the present invention can be used in the manufacture of anhydrous or emulsified excipients, in that of suppositories, water-dispersible tablets, etc.
Application: excipient for ointment Hydrogenated palm oil treated according to the present invention 18 g
Hydrogenated palm oil, melting point 38/40 C 82 g .... 100g
The mixture obtained is homogeneous and plastic when it has been properly ground. In the anhydrous state, it serves as a vehicle for anti-biotics which are perfectly preserved there, also powders and all oily or aqueous solutions of medicinal principles. This same water-dispersible excipient can absorb 10 to 30% of its weight of water, while remaining in the pasty state.
It suffices to incorporate the water by grinding,
This nonionic excipient is not irritating, and has a great power of diffusion through the skin.

The mass obtained flows and comes out perfectly under the usual conditions for the manufacture of suppositories. This trap makes it possible to rapidly convey numerous water or liposoluble bodies. Anti-biotics keep perfectly there.
The diffusion of the medicinal principles is done quickly thanks to the hydrophilicity of this mass.
3- Stationery: Paper or wadding can be coated using hydrogenated palm oil and treated according to the present invention, either to cover the paper with a layer of hydrophilic fatty substance (cellulose wadding) or to cover the paper with a layer of water-dispersible fatty substance in which an antiseptic (chlorinated derivative) or any other, more particularly soluble and stable in fatty substances, is in the form of a solution.
This layer of fatty substance can be fixed on the paper either by calendering, or by spraying, then drying an emulsion of a water-dispersible fatty substance, obtained using hydrogenated and treated palm oil. according to the present invention.
