'faite d'une maitere plus molle.. par exemple-en une matière synthétique* ou notassent en caoutchouc dur auquel on donne la préférence par suit de son prix peu élevé et de ses bonnes propriétés.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Unprotected pipe fittings made of a hard material, in particular iron, steel or other metals, can, as is known, come in very different embodiments. However, particular difficulties arise in the case where an iron tube with a protective layer, for example against corrosion, must be used,
'Made of a softer material, eg synthetic * or hard rubber, which is preferred by virtue of its low cost and good properties.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
compared to those made up or all rail of a synthetic material, the tubes of this kind have the advantage, thanks to their outer casing of iron, of resisting depressions and overpressures, as well as to external damage and this,
also at temperatures of the order of 100 to 130 ° C. for which a certain softening of the internal protective layer is already inevitable. In the case of tubes of this type, the usual fittings are not satisfactory as regards the protection against corrosion of the junction points.
In this case, we must adopt the solution consisting, before the installation of the protective layer, to cut the iron tubes to the desired length and to provide them with the necessary flanges, in order to put the protective layer in place only when these operations have been carried out. when the protective layer is then put in place, also covering the connecting arids, nothing stands in the way of the final assembly. it is obvious, however, that this procedure takes time and requires repeated transport of the already cut sections. There is therefore a need for a pipe fitting which can be made on site from cut pipes provided with a protective layer.
A particular subject of the present invention is a method for producing a tight connection with a tube made of: a hard material, in particular iron or
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
steel, and presenting a layer of protection in one will marry! softer.
This process, in which a device for pressing the ends of the tubes is used, is characterized in that the hard material at least at one end of the tube is conically removed, removing the chips and while retaining the soft protective layer, this soft protective layer is pushed aside so that it pushes against the newly created conical surface, introduced; a sealing piece corresponding to the seal surface formed and then the pressing of the end of the tube.
The present method can, for example, be carried out with tubes in which the protective layer inside the tube adheres only slightly or actually only exists because a pipe-shaped object, of a relatively soft consistency is introduced into said tube.
The present process is particularly advantageous in the case of often used iron or steel pipes which have as a protective layer a layer of vulcanized hard rubber. As hard rubber besides many has a noticeable brittleness, desirable qualities the use of such tubes has heretofore encountered the difficulties mentioned above.
Devices which can be easily brought to work and which ensure the pressing of the ends of the tubes are already known and have already been recommended for producing locks between stainless steel tubes and tubes.

It is generally advantageous when using iron tubes protected by hard rubber to use for the coating of the sealing piece a softer material, for example with a Shore hardness of about 70 to 90. The sealing piece thus used, can, if desired, be very small.
However, it is also possible, in order to compensate for unwanted differences in length, to give the sealing part a certain axial length which it itself should not have on the basis of its sealing function.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows with reference to the appended drawings which represent, diagrammatically and simply by way of example, various embodiments of the connector for tubes according to the invention.
