Description

unique.

<EMI ID=4.1>

unique. The invention consists in supplying the working liquid continuously to the drum by a circulating process and in preparing and heating it in the drum.
The single-drum washing machine for carrying out this process, which constitutes an object of the invention, is characterized in that it is arranged for the continuous circulation of the working liquid or treating liquid and has a device for preparing this liquid. and heat it inside the rotating drum * This can be done advantageously by sending the water necessary for washing and rinsing and the additions for the formation of the detergent directly into the drum
and heating it from the outside. But according to a preferred embodiment, the drum can also be subdivided into the actual working chamber or laundry chamber and a mixing chamber separate from it but communicating with it and in which engages a washing device. fixed heating while water and additional leaching agents are fed directly into it.
Under these conditions, it is particularly advantageous to circulate the working liquid axially in the drum and to discharge it continuously through a weir during leaching and rinsing.
An embodiment of the single drum washing machine according to the invention is shown by way of example in the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 shows schematically in longitudinal section the essential parts of the invention and Figure 2 is a view of the rear part of the drum.
In the example shown the drum 1 of the washing machine has a slightly conical shape and is fixed by its rear part on the control shaft 2, as usual. The front wall 3 of the drum has a loading opening.

a weir which surrounds it concentrically and which is formed of a number of relatively large orifices 6 through which the spent working liquid can escape, but
-not the laundry. The actual working chamber 7 of the drum which receives the laundry is separated by a partition 8 from a mixing chamber 9 which can communicate with the laundry chamber through orifices 10 and is closed on the shaft side by a flange. or annular flange II open in the middle which constitutes the rear wall of the drum.
In this mixing chamber opening out the inlet pipes of the water supply pipes 12 as well as a

mounted on a fixed part of the washing machine so as to be located in the lower part of the mixing chamber 9, occupied by the washing bath. The heating body may be mounted interchangeably by means of any support devices indicated by the dashed line 15.
The width of the flange or annular flange 11 is set so as to extend significantly above the level N deter undermined by the overflow openings 6 during washing and

slowly, no liquid can escape from the back.
To expel the rinsing water by centrifugation, exhaust ports 16 are established along the peripheral edge of the front transverse wall 3, in number and dimensions such that during leaching and rinsing the level of the liquid determined by the overflow can be maintained by the appropriate addition of liquid.
According to a variant also shown in Fig.l, a draining device operating automatically can however be provided for the spin. In this embodiment, instead of the front wall 3, the peripheral wall of the mixing chamber 9 is provided with orifices which are covered by a subdivided angular covering ring.
18. The soft halves of the ring 19 (Fig.2) are held together and on the drum 1 by means of two res-

to carry out for washing and rinsing as well as for

do it in a completely automatic way. For the preparation
and heating no special mixing vessel is needed, saving space and material.
According to another variant, the working liquid can
also be taken directly into the washing chamber of the
drum 1 and mixed with it, the drum then being heated externally.
