<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Device, covering for buildings".
The present invention relates to a roofing device for a building intended to replace the usual tiles while nevertheless ensuring the exterior appearance of the latter.
According to the invention, such a roofing device consists of a plate made of metal, plastic, or any other suitable material, imitating the appearance of at least one tile, but preferably of two or more tiles. that time.
Two or three standard types of slabs can be produced, with slabs corresponding to only one tile being used in principle only for finishing work on roof edges, chimneys, etc. The plates corresponding to two or more tiles, on the other hand, will make it possible to produce economically and quickly any type of roofing.

The plate according to the invention may have longitudinal reinforcing and sealing bosses imitating the aspeot - bosses of the usual tiles.
According to a particular mode of presentation, the plate has a small longitudinal projection in the form of a rib allowing the abutment of the adjacent plates, while giving by its repetition on a leading plate, the illusion of several isolated tiles.
According to a practical embodiment, the plate has, at its two ends, in the longitudinal direction, means

pect and relief of a tiled roof. It is also possible to use plastics and, in general, any suitable material capable of fulfilling the role of a usual tile.
Each plate will correspond to several tiles in order to reduce installation labor. In principle, it will be possible to produce any roof with a minimum of waste, which can also be recovered, by using only three types of plates: plates corresponding to two or three tiles, plates corresponding to five tiles, and plates corresponding to one tile for finishing work. It goes without saying however that the number of "tiles" of a plate is not limited.
The. advantages of such a roofing system will be: its lightness, its watertightness, its good thermal insulation (radiation), its durability, its reduced cost and its great ease of installation.
Figure 1 shows part of such a plate corresponding to several tiles of the interlocking type. It is obviously possible to imitate any other type of tile (Spanish tile, English tile, Burgundy tile, etc.).
The plate has bosses 1 like the tiles; these bosses also ensure the stiffening of the plates, the end bosses also making it possible to ensure a tight connection between several plates of the same row. A lateral end 2 of the plate (FIG. 3) ends in a half-boss 3 which will be covered by the boss of the adjacent plate, this last boss, not shown, corresponding in fact practically to a complete boss 1, so as to properly cover the half-boss 3, the latter being able to be stiffened by a folding back 4 of its edge, which furthermore further increases the lateral sealing of the plate.
In order to allow a superposition of the plates of the various rows, as well as to allow the stapling between them of the plates, which will be discussed below, the diameter of the bosses decreases from bottom to top when considering figure 1.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Small longitudinal bosses run along the bosses 1 and the end bosses or-denial-bosses. At the ends of the plates, these small bosses constitute a stopper for the edge of the adjacent plate. Near the intermediate bosses 1, these small bosses 8 give the illusion of separate tiles.
To ensure the connection between the plates of various rows, the upper and lower edges of the plate are folded back to form an upper staple 6 and a lower staple 7.
The upper clip 6 consists of a folding of the plate towards the outside, while the lower clip 7, - is formed by a folding inward.
These clips ensure not only the connection but also the seal, even in the case of small slopes. Also, fold it up. ment constituting the lower staple 7 also gives the illusion of the thickness of a tile. This clip 7 may comprise along its rear face, a small orifice 9 for the flow of condensed water. The upper clip has, for its part, a cutout, 14 intended to receive a stapling tab 10 (FIG. 4) which nails or attaches to elements 11, such as battens, battens, etc., of the building.
The plate 12 of FIG. 4 therefore clings to the stapling tab 10 and the plate 13 then fits into the upper clip of the plate 12, and so on.
