<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The invention relates to a valve, in particular for gas, for example for stoves, ovens, etc., a valve of the type comprising a core capable of being driven by a plunger guided so as to be able to move the hearth in extended from the core axis.
It mainly consists in making such a valve include safety means such that the pusher can occupy two series of depositions for which, respectively, it drives the core or, on the contrary, it rotates freely without driving it, and that, in order to switch from one of these two series to the other, said pusher must be in a determined angular position.
It concerns, apart from this main provision, certain others which are preferably used at the same time and which will be discussed more explicitly below.
And it can, in any case, be clearly understood with the aid of the additional description which follows, as well as the appended drawings, which supplement and drawings are, of course, given above all by way of illustration. indication.
Figs. 1 and 2 of these drawings show in partial axial section and in plan view respectively a gas valve constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figs. 3 and 4 show, respectively, in partial axial section and in cross section through IV-IV fig 3, a valve established in accordance with another embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 5 illustrates in axial section another embodiment of the invention.
Figs. 6 and 7 show, respectively, in axial section and in partial perspective (for an operating position different from that of FIG. 5), a valve established in accordance with another embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 8, finally, illustrates similarly to FIG. 7 an alternative embodiment of the valve of FIGS. 6 and 7.
We know that it is advantageous, in valves of this type, essentially comprising a sprue 1, a body 2, and a pusher or operating member 7, to provide safety means suitable for allowing said pusher to be prevented from being able to operate. drive the carrot only under certain conditions, that is to say in particular when it is brought into a supported position. This is of particular interest in order to avoid any untimely operation by children.
Said means are arranged in such a way, according to the main arrangement of the invention, that the pusher, in order to switch from the drive to the non-drive by sliding, in particular on the extended axis of the core, must be in a certain position angular.
There is shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 an embodiment of a valve provided with such means.
The pusher 7 is slidably mounted on a tip 11 of the core, and it comprises at its base a shoulder 15 retaining with respect to a cap 5 screwed at 6. The pusher is subjected to the action of a light spring. 14 preferably distinct from that 3 tending to apply the core in its bore.
The safety means consist of a bar 12 carried by the pusher and suitable for coming, when the pusher is pushed in, penetrate
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in a slot 13 of the end piece 11, in combination with two notches 21 made in the cap 5, for the passage of the ends of said bar, passage made possible only for an angular position of the plunger and of the corresponding sprue, for example to the "Valve closed" position.
To ensure the drive of the core, it is necessary that, the pusher having been brought into said angular position, it is pressed so that said bar engages in the slot 13: it is then possible to handle the core in When the latter is brought back to its closed position, the bar is released by passing through the two notches 21, which thus play the role of a lock (it being understood that all similar means, acting at the way of a lock, could be provided). Once the bar has been released, the pusher turns freely without activating the sprue.
In any case, the pusher cannot be brought to its inactive position without the core itself having been returned to its position of closing the valve.
According to the variant of FIGS. 3 and 4, only one spring 3 is provided, between pusher 7 and sprue 1, and the bar 12, which is longer, coacts at its ends with two notches 21 provided on an inner edge 22 comprising by the plug or body 2. Another rim 23 guides the bar in the released position of the pusher.
Said pusher can therefore, in this variant, be present either under the edge 23, for its free position of free rotation, or under the edge 22, for the depressed driving position, the passage from one to the other. since these positions can only be achieved after having brought the ends of the bar 12 opposite the notches 21. Here again, a locking effect is obtained, giving rise to great security.
In fig. 5, the application of the invention to another type of tap, with a core of reverse taper, has been illustrated.
Said sprue 1 is held in place under the action of an independent spring 30 placed on the other side with respect to the pusher 7, and bearing against a cap, for example stamped, 31 held in particular by a ring 32. A grain 33 is advantageously interposed between spring 30 and sprue 1.
The pusher is slidably mounted in the bore of a sleeve 34 integral with the body 2 and it is likely, in its position pressed against the action of a light spring 35, to come and drive the core by a lug 36 engaging. in a slot 37 of the latter.
For the delimitation of the rest position and the actuation position of the pusher, two grooves 38, 39 are provided on the latter, in combination with a lug, for example a screw 40 and with a passage or a countersink. 41 between the two grooves, the operation being obvious (the whole being of course arranged so that the passage 41 comes opposite the lug 40 for a closed position of the valve). Fig. 5 shows the valve in the actuating position, the lug 40 guiding the pusher 7 in rotation, thanks to the groove 38. On the contrary, for the position of safety and non-actuation of the sprue, the pusher turns freely, the lug 40 then coacting with the groove 39.
Means may be provided for adjusting certain positions of the core, in particular that corresponding to operation in standby mode, these means consisting for example of an adjustable stop carried by the body of the valve and coacting with the pusher or with the core.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Very schematically, there is shown in FIG. 5 a screw stop 42 against which one or the other of the ends of a groove 43 of the sprue can come to rest at the end of its travel, any other solution being possible.
It has been assumed in fig. 5 that the arrival and departure of gas were made laterally at 44, 45. But any other arrangement can be adopted, in particular with axial gas outlet. In the latter case, the stamped cap 31 of FIG. 5 could be replaced by a part screwed into the body 2 of the valve and possibly combined with an injector.
Figs. 6 and 7 illustrate yet another embodiment according to which the guiding of the pusher in its sleeve 34 is assigned by means of a lug 49 integral with the first and suitable for coacting with two slots 50,51 formed in the second and communicating at 52. For the active position of the pusher, the lug enters the slot 51 (fig. 6).
For the neutral position, on the contrary, the lug penetrates into the slot 50, and the pusher can turn freely without driving the core. However, the spring 35 could be arranged so as to work, not only on compression, but also on torsion so as to tend to bring the pusher, in its neutral position, to a position for which 'lug 49 abuts against one of the ends 501 or 502 of the slot 50, this so as to create additional security, it being understood that any other elastic action could be used.
The active length a of the slot 51 corresponds to the angular travel of the core between its extreme positions. This stroke could be greater than 90.
In each case, arrangements will be made to match, to the characteristic angular positions of the pusher handle, appropriate markers. Two markers will be provided for example, which will correspond in particular - one to the position valve opening (lug 49 in slot 51 and in abutment against the end 511 of this slot, fig. 6), - the other in the pancake position of the pusher, for example that for which, under the action torsion exerted by the spring 35, the snout 49, in the slot 50, abuts against the end 501 or 502.
We can arrange for these two marks to be 90 from each other, taking into account the stroke of the valve.
It has also been assumed that the lug 49 could, in the aotive position of the pusher, come to rest against an adjustable stop 53 which can play the same role as that 37 of FIG. 5,
According to the variant of FIG. 8, the circular-shaped slot 50 of FIGS. 6 and 7 is replaced by a simple disengagement 54 of the slot 51.
Finally, the closure piece 46 may include at 55 a pipe connection, as shown in FIG. 6.
As a result, whatever the embodiment adopted, it is possible to establish taps whose operation results sufficiently from the foregoing so that it is unnecessary to dwell on it, and which present, compared with those of the kind in question already existing, many advantages, in particular - that of avoiding any jamming of the tap core, thanks
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the independence between core and tappet, - that of allowing operation in unfavorable conditions from a thermal point of view (valves subjected to strong heating), - that of allowing precise definition of the pressure elastic holding the core in place, this pressure no longer depending on the pusher, - that of ensuring easy removal of the core,
without having to dismantle the pusher, - and above all, thanks to the safety means provided, to prevent any untimely operation of the plungers, in particular by children, these means being such that, when the pusher is in the inactive position, the sprue has been left in the valve closed position, which ensures total safety.
As goes without saying and as it follows moreover already from the foregoing, the invention is in no way limited to those of its modes of application, nor to those of the embodiments, of its various parts, having been more especially considered; on the contrary, embraces all the variants.
CLAIMS.
1. Valve, in particular gas, with push-button capable of occupying, with respect to the core, two series of respectively active and inactive positions, in particular by sliding along the axis of the core, charac- terized by the fact that, for the passage from one of these two series of positions to the other, the pusher must be in a determined angular position.
2. Valve according to revendioation 1, characterized in that, during the separation between lug and pusher, in the aforesaid angular position, the core is in the valve closed position.
