<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Machines for pneumatic backfill generally have a cell wheel rotating about a horizontal axis. Pneumatic backfill machines are also known with a cell wheel which rotates around a vertical axis. This embodiment has the advantage that the machine can be moved more easily and can be adapted more easily to the local conditions existing in the vein and in the tunnel of the underground installations. In this case, the various vertical cells were closed by upper and lower horizontal shut-off plates, the introduction of materials and the admission of compressed air being done through the upper plate and the outlet of the materials through the lower plate. laughing.
The compressed air inlet and the material outlet were located one above the other, so that the cells were emptied not only by the effect of the gravity of the pneumatically pumped materials, but also by the effect of compressed air. Pneumatic backfilling machines are also known, the cell wheel of which rotates around a vertical axis, the cross section of this wheel decreasing upwards and the closing plate being formed by a corresponding cone. laying in which open, on one side, the material introduction hopper and, on the other side, the compressed air duct and the material outlet.
The object of the invention is to make these backfill machines pneumatic, with cell wheel rotating around a vertical axis, such that their construction is particularly low and not cumbersome and that the plate, crossed by the inlet and outlet orifices. material outlet and through the connection for compressed air, is easily adjustable and provides a certain closure.
In accordance with the invention, the cell wheel is formed by a double cone, the cross section of which decreases upwards and downwards and in the two conical walls from which the following connections open: in the upper cone the connection of the leading duct the materials to be transported and that of the compressed air duct and, in the lower cone, the connection of the materials evacuation duct,
While, in the heretofore known embodiments, the positive connection between the shutter plates was only possible by upper and lower cross members, held in place by bolts distributed around the periphery of the cell wheel, the shutter plates can, according to another arrangement forming part of the invention,
be held in place by a central support column and constituting the cell wheel in the form of an annular body which rotates around a fixed support column. The latter is then rigidly connected to the lower shutter plate while the upper shutter plate is mounted on this column so as to be able to slide axially on the latter. To allow this axial sliding of the upper shutter plate, a nut has been provided which can turn around the support column.
The outer face of the annular body, forming the cell wheel, carries, between the conical shutter plates, a toothed ring meshing with a driving pinion.
In order to absorb the transverse forces which act on the annular body, the latter bears on all sides on the support column using a cylindrical sleeve.
The cell wheel is tightly clamped against the upper and lower shutter plates and constantly rubs against them.
The weight of the cell wheel also acts on the lower shutter plate. To balance this weight, in whole or in part, we can
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
establish between the cell wheel and the lower shutter plate or the support plate of the machine, a chamber containing compressed air, this chamber being closed regardless of the position occupied by the cell wheel. The horizontal section of this chamber has dimensions such that a significant part of the effect of the gravity of the cell wheel is balanced by the compressed air. To form a chamber of this kind, it is possible to provide between a cylindrical part of the support column and an annular flange forming part of the annular body, an annular chamber containing compressed air and provided with upper and lower seals.
For lockage devices of the kind in question, the use of compressed air is characteristic for emptying the cells. The inventor has discovered that it is not advantageous to always use, as a means of emptying the cells, air the pressure of which corresponds to the total pressure which must be available in order to discharge the materials into the cells. installation pipes. According to another arrangement of the invention, a regulating valve is established in the conduit which brings the compressed air into the cell wheel.
Part of the compressed air is taken, using a self-regulating shutter member, out of the compressed air supply duct, upstream of the regulating valve, and is introduced directly into the pipe. conveyor in which the materials are introduced, by sluicing using the machine. The shutter member is maintained in its closed position by a force acting constantly, for example by a spring, but it opens when the pressure prevailing in the duct for supplying the compressed air between the valve. adjustment and pneumatic backfill machine, reaches a determined value
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the invention.
Figs. 1 and 2 show, respectively in vertical section and in plan, a pneumatic repackaging machine established in accordance with the invention.
Fig. 3 shows, in partial vertical section, the lower part of this machine.
The backing plate 10 of the machine carries the lower conical obturator plate 11 and the cylindrical sleeve 12 which surrounds the support column 130 The upper obturator plate 14, which occupies an approximately specular position with respect to the obturator plate lower 11, can slide, using the cylindrical sleeve 15, on the upper part of the support column 13. The threaded upper end 16 of this column carries a nut 17 with handwheel, which penetrates into the plate. upper 14 and with the help of which this plate can be held in place.
Between the two shutter plates 11 and 14 is interposed the cell wheel 18, having the shape of a double cone, this wheel comprising individual cells 19 and bearing with the aid of the sleeve 20 on the support column 13. The upper and lower seals are provided with wear plates 21 and 24. 22 denote the material introduction hopper, 23 the material outlet and 25 the compressed air supply duct. .
The cell wheel 18 carries, on its external face, a toothed ring 26 which meshes with a pinion 27 actuated by a motor 28 and by means of a slip clutch 29 and a transmission 30 with toothed wheels. conical.
The duct 31, in which the total pressure of the compressed air prevails, is connected by an adjustment valve 32 (valve regulating the operation) to the duct 250. 33 denotes the box of the nozzle shut-off member.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
34 in the delivery pipe 35. The connection leading to the nozzle 34 starts from the conduit 31 upstream of the adjustment valve 32. In the box 33 is housed a piston 36 which is held in the position shown in the drawing by a spring 37 when robient 32 is closed.
When pressure acts in the conduit 25, the piston 36 is brought to a position such that the two tubes 38 and 39 communicate with each other through the peripheral groove 40 formed in the piston 36.
Since only a part of the air pressure, used for the discharge, acts in the backfill machine itself, it can be made more tight and operates with less wear.
As soon as the seals formed between the upper and lower shutter plates and the cell wheel cease to be sealed by the wear of the support plates 21 and 24, the sealing can be reestablished by acting on the flywheel nut. 17.
Fig. 3 shows the lower part of the pneumatic backfill machine in which the cell wheel is supported, in part, by compressed air. Through the duct 41, which passes through the support column 13, air pressure is continuously maintained in the annular chamber 42 delimited, on the one hand, by the external face of the support column 13 and, on the other hand. hand, by a flange 43 provided on the underside of the cell wheel, this chamber being sealed by the seals 44 and 45.
