<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to a valve, the shape of which mainly allows a collective operation, rapid operation both on opening and closing on a plurality of similar valves.
Such a type of valve is sealed and nevertheless has passage sections such that only low pressure drops are to be considered. Furthermore, the construction of this valve isolates the gasket from the liquid whose flow is to be controlled. Finally, the tightness check is obtained in a very simple and very efficient manner.
According to the invention, the valve comprises a valve sliding in the body of said valve, this valve carrying at one of its ends an elastic valve which is applied on a bearing surface of the body of said valve through which said valve, the other end of the valve. this plug being provided, outside the body of the valve, with a longitudinal actuator intended to allow the plug to be driven into the body of the valve, this plug being provided with communication ports.
The plug carries two series of perforations communicating with an interior space of this plug, one of the series of perforations being included in a space of the valve body which communicates with the pouring spout, the other series of perforations being able to be brought, when of the depression of the plug, beyond the seat of the elastic valve.
The return of the valve to the corresponding seat results from the action of the pressure of the liquid on the end of the ball carrying the elastic valve and this return can be aided by a spring with adjustable tension, included between a cap of stuffing box which seals around the plug when the latter is pushed in and the underside of the thrust member, the position of which is also adjustable.
Finally, the plug and the body of the valve are provided, if necessary, with a locking member which allows the plug to be immobilized in the open position at will.
The description which will follow, with reference to the appended drawing by way of non-limiting example, will make it possible to clearly understand how the invention is implemented in practice.
Figure 1 shows the body of the valve in section.
FIG. 2 shows in section the various parts integral with the plug and this plug itself.
Figure 3 shows the parts of the cable gland in section.
Figure 4 shows the return spring.
Figure 5 shows a sectional view of the mounted valve.
Figure 6 is a rear view of this valve.
The valve comprises a body 1 inside which are bored two chambers 2 and 3. A shoulder 4, at the bottom of the chamber 2 and around a bore 5 serving as a passage for a valve, is intended to serve as a seat for a valve 6 of resilient material with good resistance to the calorific and chemical conditions of the liquid flow under consideration and, for example, of an elastic material such as synthetic rubber.
Opposite the bore 5 is a bore 7 for the front guide of the timber. Chamber 2 opens into a connecting flange 8 and pouring spout 9 opens laterally into chamber 3.
The aligned bores 5 and 7 receive the body of a plug 10, the front part of which has a threaded hole 11 intended to receive the threaded shank 12 of an operating button 13 with a rounded head. A transverse perforation 14 allows the introduction of a pin for screwing and adjusting the knob 13 on the housing body. The posterior part

of this valve body comprises a chamber 15 communicating by series of radial perforations 16 and 17 with the periphery of said valve.
The rear portion of the chamber is closed by a welded ring 18, into which can be screwed a flat-head screw 19 intended to hold the valve 6. The perforations 17 are arranged so as to remain in the chamber 3 during the operation. of depression or projection of the plug relative to the body 1. The series of perforations 16 is located in the bore 5 when the plug is in the protruding position and opens in the chamber 2 when the plug is pushed in and valve 6 has left its seat 4.
The bore 7 is extended by a threaded nose 20 inside which can slide a tightening ring 21 applied by a pierced stopper 22 which is screwed onto the threaded part 20. The ring 21 is tightened in a sealed manner, but with friction. as low as possible, a plastic insert 23 around the valve body. A spring 24 surrounding the valve body is pressed on the head of the plug 22 and under the button 13. The adjustment of the spring 24 can result from both the screwing of the button 13 and the screwing of the cap 22. The adjustment can also be made. spring 24 using shims under button 13 or on cap 22.
Moreover, as shown in the drawings, if necessary, a groove 25 is provided in the bore 7 to allow the passage of a lug 28 screwed into the valve body 10, this lug ensuring the retention of the valve in position. opening by simple depression of this plug and slight rotation, the lug resting on the front terminal shoulder of the chamber 3 at the outlet of the groove 25. A reverse rotation maneuver ensures closure.
The operation of such a valve is obvious. Such a valve can naturally be mounted on its own. It can be operated by hand or mechanically. Such a valve can be part of a series comprising a large number of valves and these valves are particularly well suited to the execution of collective maneuvers by cams, common support bars or the like. This is the case with filter press valves in particular, these filter presses comprising from 30 to 50 valves depending on the number of plates. The shape of the flange 8 is precisely intended for adaptation to such washing filter presses.
It goes without saying that, without departing from the scope of the present invention, it is possible to make modifications to the embodiments which have just been described.
