Fig. 1 une vue partielle en élévation, avec coupes dans la sous-garde et dans la crosse, l'arme étant en sûreté;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

IMPROVEMENT IN SECURITY MECHANISMS FOR FIREARMS.
The present invention relates to an improvement in the safety mechanism for firearms, and more especially for single shot hunting weapons, and it relates to a safety mechanism ensuring the setting of the trigger.
It is already known to block the movement of the trigger by intervening in the direction of the trajectory of the trigger for firing, for example of an element in the form of a small rod acting as a lock. the free end engages on or in the trigger, while its other end is connected to a spring plunger of known construction.
These devices have the drawback of becoming easily out of adjustment and further complicating the assembly because they are usually located in the axis of the assembly screw passing through the shank of the butt to the shoulder plate.
The aim of the present improvement is to obviate these drawbacks and that by a simple and foolproof mechanism which is characterized by a pivoting lever made at its two ends in the form of fingers, the lower one of which engages in a groove made in a safety lock and the other upper is held between two tabs integral with a push button.
In addition, the lower part of the pivot lever is offset and curved to allow passage for the cap screw.
The drawing appended to this specification shows, by way of example only, a single shot hunting rifle provided with the safety device according to the invention. We see in:
Fig. 1 a partial elevation view, with sections through the guard and the butt, the weapon being safe;
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 2 an elevational view similar to that shown in FIG. 1, the weapon being out of security
Fig. 3 an elevational view of the opposite face of the safety mechanism, and in
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the safety lock.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the trigger 1 is blocked by a blade 2, acting as a lock, sliding between the upper face of the guard 3 and a guide roller 4. This blade is extended by a rod 5, welded or coming from a part, in relation to a groove 6 with the lower finger 7a of a lever 7 pivoting at 8 on a support 9 fixed to the slide plate 10 of the push button 13, while an upper finger 7b of the lever 7 is guided between two legs 11 and 12 of said pusher.
The lower part of the pivoting lever 7, with its finger 7a is curved and offset to allow the passage of an assembly screw 14 passing through the shank of the butt 15. Similarly, the connecting rod 5 is offset with respect to the blade 2 of so as to correspond to finger 7a (Fig. 4) '
The tab 11 of the push-button 13 is crossed by a pin 16, one end of which serves as a stop for a pin 17 arranged in the extension of a piston 18 actuated by the key 19.
In the position shown in Figo 1, the trigger 1 is held in the safe position by the end 20 of the lock 2. To put the weapon out of safety, it suffices to give the push-button 13 a slight movement in the direction. of the key. The tabs 11 and 12 integral with the push button then drive the upper finger 7b of the pivoting lever 7 in their movement and cause the latter to pivot around the axis 8, which has the effect of bringing the lower finger 7a backwards. . This acts in the same direction by the rod 5 on the latch 2 and the trigger 1 is free to move (Fig 2).
It suffices to impart to the push-button a slight reverse movement so that the lower finger 7a of the pivoting lever 7 acting on the rod 5 brings the latch 2 back into contact with the trigger 1 and again to put the weapon in safety.
When the weapon is opened, after firing, the trigger will be automatically locked in the safety position, as is known, thanks to the piston 18 actuated by the key 19. The latter in its backward movement pushes the trigger. pin 17 which abuts against the axis 16 and prints to the tab 11, therefore to the push-button 13, a slight rearward movement, which brings the latch 2 into contact with the trigger 1.
When closing the weapon, by the movement of the key 19, the piston 18 is returned to its original position, while the pin 17 will not be in contact again with the said piston until the release of the safety device. 'army
